Good overall video. Seems like it might be easier to just remove the wheel bearing (and replace it while you're at it) and slide it right out but maybe I'm missing something. Also, I find it easiest to loosen the axel hex bolt with the wheel still on, remove the center cap, and loosen it a bit, then when you get the wheel off it is much easier to deal with. BTW those axel bolts are a one-use item (Torque to Yield) and should be replaced every time it's disassembled AND I find that some cheaper off-brand parts have a longer bolt that may not meet spec.
Great video. What size bolts are the x6 m10? How long? Can you re use the same or do you have to buy new ones. Just ordered two refurbished cv axle GKN LOBRO/SPIDAN
There is a metal shroud over the top of the drive shaft fixings gearbox end that needs to be removed/loosened before moving the shaft assembly to the left side
Great video. I have recently bought the same car. Knocking sound though only when reversing and turning wheel to the right. Makes the noise intermittently under passenger footwell. CV joints got replaced in Jan before I bought it. Is the change you did on this video different from changing the CV joint? Sorry if that makes no sense I have extremely limited knowledge of car mechanics. 😂
There are two cv joints I believe, inner and outer. I replaced the outer on mine but it ended up being the inner joint. So it’s best to do the whole drive shaft. I bought mine from GSF
He says what year and model at the beginning of the video but you need to check the exact fit regardless. There is also conflicting information on this half axel part from various suppliers as the part numbers have changed for Audi/VW over the last few years.
@@rayromych5534no, you can do it with only half of it off. Do everything in the video but don’t take it off from the inner pats. Just take the driveshaft out of the hub and you can replace the cv joint. Then put it back in to the hub and put everything back together like the hub bolt, track rod end, anti roll bar link and the lower control arm bolts.
Thanks for this, I believe i may have a driveshaft issue... i have a strange noise which sounds like a "wow, wow, wow" noise at low speed and within the 1500/2000rpm range.. it seems to get louder going up hill and when the car is warm too.. do you know if this sounds like a draftshaft or maybe a gearbox issue? You can hear the noise clearly in the passenger footwell, but from the drivers perspective it sounds more central, as you may know sounds travel weirdly in cars.. I have had the CV joint and wheel bearing replaced the passenger side too.. any help I would greatly appreciate it.
Did you get it sorted mate? I've got a friend who's got the noise like you are describing, just in his case it seems to be coming from the back of the car and doesn't really match the speed of the tyre rotation

How much do you charge to get the drive shaft changed
Awesome video! could you please tell me the torque spec for the 6 bolts plus the one on the front? thank you.

How is the part holding up? Womdering if I should go OEM or off brand.
Since the video has been uploaded I haven’t had any issues and it’s done about 20k miles. Hope this helps. The aftermarket one was a lot cheaper.
Hello brother what would it cost me to replace this was wondering if you would know?
Got a a6 64plate c7
@@shubnabegum8420Same as me, did you get a price for it?

Hi, yes I had the same issues, I replaced the whole drive shaft as it was more cost efficient. The issue you are having is with the inner cv joint.

Really appreciate this and going to try and claim on my warranty. Thanks again.

It seems good why did you replaced it and what are the symptoms you noticed?
Clicking sound when turning. Very loud
Hello, what specificatikn of car you've got? Engine, gearbox, drivertain. Depending on that the required parts may be different.

Are them 6 bolts definitely loosened clockwise? 1:48
No, anti clockwise. lefty loosey righty tighty.
@tonynorth5278 yeah thought that, moron in the video giving wrong info
If I need to change just outer CV joint - would I have to do all this as well?
No, you can replace outer cv joint without replacing the full drive shaft but then you run the risk of the inner cv joint being bad too.
If you unclip the outer cv boot, then you can slide the cv joint off and replace it. You may need a new boot which are not easy to put on.
@@290_ZAK Sorry, I mean do I need to take out whole drive shaft to only replace outer cv joint

I believe it sounds like a gearbox issue. Probably a worn out gear of flywheel.

I changed my cv joint still clicking do i need to do what u done here?
Hi, that’s the issue I had. Replacing this fixed it for me. So you might want to do the same.

GSF Carparts
Is this a common problem with these types of Audis?
Yes, it is common on the A6 and A7
