SAVAGE308SNIPER Let me propose an argument: Michael from Vsauce1 goes off topic most of the time because that's his style of presenting a message to the viewer. It arguably has made him considerably much more popular than the other Vsauces.
I remembered when I was 3 that I had my ice cream smacked out of my hand by my sister, but as I got older, that memory became that the ice cream was actually a fork, than a toy, than a baseball, than my sister became my dad, than my cousin whom I've never met, than my next door neighbor who wasn't even around when I was 3. When I went back and saw a home movie of this event, it turned out that it wasn't ice cream, and it wasn't my sister. In fact, nothing was ever knocked out of my hand at all. I was given a piece of cake, and threw it at my mother. How in the hell did I remember that...so incorrectly?
+Zodyrus Sevaron Wow. I remember dropping a stuffed bird toy into a pen of penguins at a zoo once. My mom says that the railing on the pen was too high and that there was no way I could have just accidentally dropped it, so she'd pretty sure I threw it. I also remember mostly-accidentally dropping a necklace down inside a glass pit that allowed people to view the ocean from a boat, and I am sure that I was thinking about how terrible it would be if I accidentally dropped it, since it was new and I would probably never get it back. I think that when we are very young, we don't yet know how to keep thoughts and actions separate. So you throwing cake may have been an impulse that simply became true because of untrained self-control.
Everyday we do something different, we die or commit suicide when we get bored, load at a certain save... choose a new job? Try different careers? Date different peoole? It's basically time travelling
crystallite king Are you trying to make me check back _again_? I'm not falling for it! Except if it really does, and I'm making a fool out of myself here...
+Nixel * raises hand * I checked... it's true... his shirt changed color twice... and he was wearing two earrings and an eyebrow ring for the majority of the video...
If only I could save in real life, the shit I would do just to reload it like nothing happened. Or just press the quit button if im not up to playing the game of life...
But think about that: Everyone would reload all the time (if everyone can do this ofc) you could never know if the moment you live through you did not live through like ten thousands of times - and if it will live or if someone will reload the entire stuff. God thats deep shit.
When there was the clip of the guy asking for directions and the person asking changed, I thought that it was insane that the old man did not notice the person was different. But then Jake puts me in my place at the end of the video... :b' Thanks Jake
So basically...All memories may be fake and just planted in each on of us. We have no certainty that we existed prior to today, seeing as memories can not only be false remembered, but also added without any apparent conflictions. We may have so many memories that never happened.
Maybe what is going on right now is just a false memory. Maybe you never really typed this, and your brain is creating memories for your life, and you aren't even in the real world yet.... Think on that.
We can sort of disprove this theory with Occam's razor... We know that every false memory, action, and event EVER requires a ton of assumptions if they were planted in us yesterday. The idea that our life isnt a false lie requires a lot less assumptions :)
Problem is absolute certainty is a joke. It can't be obtained, you can never "know" anything. Which is why when we say certain and know, we actually mean we are certain we mean certain to a high degree, or highest degree we can be certain of something. You can take some level of comfort though. The existence of irrational numbers at the very least proves we do not exist within a simulation such as the matrix or a simulated universe.
"Humans believe in life as it is presented." Technically, we could be the simulation of beings so highly advanced, that their reality is beyond our comprehension. Like how videos game characters lack the ability to do exactly what we do. On the other hand, perhaps our own limitations show that life is real. As if it were not, we could do anything, like in a dream. Or is it that dreams are the reality and we only remember glimpses of them. Maybe our human limitations while awake show it is not real. As in simulations, you can't possibly give it the same sense of awareness or freedom of movement as we have. However it is, it might be that we may never know, what it is.
we couldnt describe you because we were focused on what you were telling us. it is like you are reading for a test and the teacher asks you something differend, but not irrelevant
OK NOW I'M SCARED I ASSUMED THAT HE CHANGING CLOTHES AND HIS EAR JEWELRY DURING THE VIDEO WAS SOMETHING VERY OBVIOUS BUT TURNS OUT ITS NOT WHATS WRONG WITH ME
***** I agree with your comment I noticed only the ear ings not the shirt or the nose but my mind is saying that I did kinda notice the noise (or something different with his face) not sure if true I don't think so.. interesting how that happened.
Zmansk88 Yeah, when he mentioned that he changed his shirt, I was looking for a "nose ring", then he said "eyebrow ring" and I was like, "Dang...even when I look for it, he STILL got me.".
I think most of the problem with memory is that we're not paying attention to everything while it's happening. There are so many individual "things" in the room with me right now (from large pieces of furniture to individual dog hairs on the carpet), that it would take me a week to go through and really take a hard look at everything that's in my field of vision in a split second. We have no choice but to ignore everything except for what feels important to us at the time.
i have a really good memory, but one problem is, i have trouble remember order of events. I'll remember everything about something that happened years ago, but can't remember the order it happened.
That was neat what you did at the end when you changed your shirt and stuff. I didn't even notice that at all. It is interesting how many small details we miss.
In order to truely save like in a video game, we need to be able to save not just us, but the state of the entire universe :) Then we need a handy-dandy cosmic load/save menu. Imagine being able to save just before that job interview and keep reloading until you get the job!
As did I, but, in all fairness to me, I was also looking at my tumblr dashboard on my phone as I was watching and it's mostly lol gifs...and gay porn....
I didnt notice the shirt changing, thats something that can happen in a video though, but I really couldnt help but notice the earrings and the piercing in your eyebrow suddenly missing in the last shot, even before you mentioned it.
I had to go back through this video and re watch just to see the color of his shirt had changed and the jewelry went missing. Not sure if I created false memory's or that I'm just not that observant. lol
After the last footage Jake came back and I noticed his eyebrow peircing was gone, I thought "oh, he's doing the thing he's talking about! He's trying to trick me!". I didn't notice the shirt; however, I wasn't looking at it.
Generally, when I don't remember what just happened, I interpolate what happens now, what I remember from before the moment I don't remember, and what has happened on a similar moment. It works, but generally I remember new things that happened there, and I need to interpolate again.
Mei Ling and Snake had an argument on this idea in MGS. Mei Ling, the one who saved your progress argued that one should be able to save one's memories but Snake detested that idea for the same reasons argued at the end of this video.
I heard when that happens, a remedy is to quickly shift your eyes side to side. Supposedly that stimulates the connections between the two hemispheres of the brain and helps it to better process information at the moment, which in turn should help you remember what you were doing.
Have you ever walked into a room and found a vampire? No, not the sexy kind, but a foul creature with bony limbs and ashen skin? The kind that snarls as you enter, like a beast about to pounce? The kind that roots you to the spot with its sunken, hypnotic eyes, rendering you unable to flee as you watch the hideous thing uncoil from the shadows? Has your heart started racing though your legs refuse to? Have you felt time slow as the creature crosses the room in the darkness of a blink? Have you shuddered with fear when it places one clawed hand atop your head and another under your chin so it can tilt you, exposing your neck? Have you squirmed as its rough, dry tongue slides down your cheek, over your jaw, to your throat, in a slithering search that's seeking your artery? Have you felt its hot breath release in a hiss against your skin when it probes your pulse-the flow that leads to your brain? Has its tongue rested there, throbbing slightly as if savoring the moment? Have you then experienced a sinking, sucking blackness as you discover that not all vampires feed on blood-some feed on memories? Well, have you? Maybe not. But let me rephrase the question: Have you ever walked into a room and suddenly forgotten why you came in? Source: /r/shortscarystories/comments/1inv0n/next_time_youll_know_better/

Apollo Robbins did perform the "shirt changing" trick too in a TED conference... But it was live!
"The mind of the subject will desperately try to create memories where none exist."

He changed it 3 times, just checked.
Same.
thedeadliest robloxia you sure? i only saw black, grey, then white, but because he started with black, he only changed twice? right?
Same here, his piercings are the reason I watch his videos. It's nice to look st
i noticed that 100% of this content is from Vsauce1

I bet 95% of the people that watched the whole video went back to the beginning to see if they had really missed the change.
You genuine how did you know
I know I did.
I did
Its funny cause I noticed
i just noticed the piercings but not the T-shirt color until he mentioned it in the video
Saw the ending.... Back to the beginning...
Woooaaah...
I saw the R's.
Not the S.
I love how when he said that the color of shirt changed by the end of the video, everyone just flips back to the beginning of the video XD

Jonathan Alexander Ah, ok. Thank you, I didn't catch that.

There's a game called Remeber Me. Where you change major events in peoples' lives by altering there memories, and changing their history.

I'm used to say I like Vsauce more than Vsauce2 and 3 but this one is pure genius!!
I didn't notice the shirt change or the eye brow ring. But I did notice the ear rings because they sparkled a little.

I did not notice the different color of shirt, but I did notice your earrings and eyebrow ring was missing
I immediately noticed the rings were gone, but not the shirt... XD
I didn't notice the shirt change but I honestly noticed all the rings vanishing.
I admit I didn't notice the shirt, but I immediately saw he wasn't wearing his earrings and brow ring.

I noticed the rings, but not the shirt, probably because I focused on his face.

A better question, "Can we LOAD in real life?"
You can't
YipYapYoup
Perhaps, but there MIGHT, just MIGHT, be a way. After all, just the other day I thought it impossible to SAVE... but now...
Thumbs up if you replayed the video just to look for the subtle changes
I didnt notice the shirt changing, thats something that can happen in a video though, but I really couldnt help but notice the earrings and the piercing in your eyebrow suddenly missing in the last shot, even before you mentioned it.
I didn't notice the different shirt, but I did notice the piercings were gone

Hey, Game Theory in Vsauce? Awesome!
Totally missed all those subtle changes in his appearance. Reminds me a lot of Brian Games.
After the last footage Jake came back and I noticed his eyebrow peircing was gone, I thought "oh, he's doing the thing he's talking about! He's trying to trick me!". I didn't notice the shirt; however, I wasn't looking at it.
Same here. :)
Generally, when I don't remember what just happened, I interpolate what happens now, what I remember from before the moment I don't remember, and what has happened on a similar moment.
It works, but generally I remember new things that happened there, and I need to interpolate again.
I actually saw his earrings but I didn't know it was gone
Did anyone else go back to the beginning of the video to see if he was wearing the different things?
I noticed the earings!
Mei Ling and Snake had an argument on this idea in MGS. Mei Ling, the one who saved your progress argued that one should be able to save one's memories but Snake detested that idea for the same reasons argued at the end of this video.
