Imagine being told your child is alive but in a coma, knowing that the other girl is dead and they had a funeral service for her, then when the girl you think is your child wakes up and says she is actually the other girl. How awful it must be realizing that they had the funeral for the wrong person and buried your daughter and you didn't even know it was her. I feel so bad for her parents.

I can't stop thinking about the parents in that situation with the students and the car crash. One family lost a daughter, held a funeral for her, spent days grieving, only for her to miraculously come back to life. That must've been an amazing feeling for them. On the other hand, another family had their daughter, who they believed was lucky enough to have survived the crash and were waiting on her recovery, ripped away from them, finding out that she had been dead all along.
That was just heartbreaking, I hope Laura received a proper funeral after that. Thinking about how her body was there for a funeral that wasn’t even held for her is just depressing.
@@saradeeee I’m assuming that after a car crash her face was scarred, bruised and probably swollen. It sort of feels like the parents must of almost known it wasn’t their child in the hospital bed, but been in denial. It’s impossible to imagine being in that situation.

Due to shipwrecks and wartime attacks on ships, none of Guillaume Le Gentil letters he had sent to the Academy or to his relatives had reached their destinations. It's honestly sad to be quite honest.
Vsauce is really smart for recognizing there’s probably some depressed people trying to find out how to “disappear”, and dedicated the end of the video to trying to stop them
I'm ''Missing missing''. Getting to that part of the video resonated with me. I wasn't when I first watched this video when it came out, but I have been now for nearly 5 years. It just kinda happened. Mind, I'm living comfortably, I have a partner and by extend a new family.

Anna V I'm not trying to insult you, it's a stereotype that french people are a##hole's, i'm playing off of that stereotype. I don't actually mean to offend you, just trying to the best out of a bad situation( a poor guy lost almost everything to witness an event, yet he didn't even get to).
For those of you who want to disappear, please don't. You would be terribly missed, you are loved, and statistically speaking you are irreplaceable in the world we live in. You're needed and valued, and this world would be empty without you
My great great Uncle was a POW in WWII and his wife married his friend bc they assumed he was dead, I guess. He didnt find out she remarried until he came home. She went back to my Uncle, but the other man committed suicide. He was also in the War.
Miachel’s videos are just like psychedelics. They start with fun and spectacle, then get heavy, and often dark, then the insane amount of information you’ve been taking in starts to coalesce and make sense. Finally, as the message becomes clearer, you are overwhelmed with real hope, a deep sense of purpose, and an understanding.
Really ? To be honest i did not even understood the point of the video. It's not clear or structured correctly for an informative video. Basically if you do not have a extended social life you could die tomorrow and no one would notice. Big deal. Nothing new or interesting about it. I learned nothing. If you want to watch something more interesting, Curious Droid is pretty good. The Action Guy is fun to watch too.
@@LordZero666 Umm, because it's not an informative video. This is a sort of motivational video. As the end suggests. If you want hard facts look elsewhere. This is Vsauce, a place where learning is fun and engaging and videos have lessons in them and purpose. I think this is a great video. It presents interesting stories, it has a positive side, an optimistic outlook and a dark side. The point is very clear. Vsauce wants to make informative videos that have an optimistic outlook, that lift your mood up, that make you interested in subjects by asking strange questions and he's *great* at it. The purpose of Vsauce's videos is to engage first and foremost. They are no made for the ones already interested in learning about things, they are meant for people that otherwise wouldn't click on an educational/informative video. They are meant to attract as many people as possible to learning.

I thought I went missing for a while when I was like 7. I went to this place and I made a bunch of new friends and just forgot about my home. It was only after decades had passed that I realised how my family must have felt when I left. They must have thought I was dead. After saying goodbye to all of my friends, I finally gathered the courage to go back home. When I returned, however, everything was exactly the same, and not a single person even missed me. It was as if I was never gone at all. *Narnia sounds a lot fucking darker now, huh?*
Ye but isn't the world we live in like 1000x slower in time than Narnia, bc in the film they say they were gone for hours, opposed to months or years. hmm
The kids were only gone for a few minutes in our world. Time is different in Narnia. What I think would suck is being a king and having a lifetime of knowledge and respect then being treated as a child when you get back, the idea in child rearing at that time "children should be seen but not heard" I always thought that would be incredibly frustrating.

Like, the, Shatner comma, spoken, but...drawn out, tics and all. This guy gives Tourette's a bad name. Tourette's people can't help twisting around. This guy can. Sheesh. Still, an interesting vid.
The first two minutes of this video legitimately has one of the most well-constructed introductions I’ve ever seen or heard, especially in a UA-cam video. If I were an English teacher, I’d play this in class as an example of how to write an introductory paragraph
@@JanKirb In my opinion, an introduction doesn't necessarily have to directly relate to the body of a work. One of the best methods my English teacher taught me was to start with an anecdote. In cases like this, where the anecdote doesn't directly relate to the body of work, it functions even better as a hook for the viewer. It keeps the viewer watching/reading because they are curious to see just how the intro relates to the topic of the work.
They get sucked into any slight gaps in the design, and end up somewhere in the body of the thing. Since they are so small, they are susceptible to getting sucked through the tiny crevices in the design of the dryer and/or washer. If you open it up, you will find them all. I've opened up enough of them to figure this out. Most repairmen are well aware of this as well lol
Its the fear of the dark that makes us appreciate light, and its the cruelty of reality that makes us seek the light. In other words, its dark and everything we do is to mask the dark and depression, it all depends on how fast you buy it.

I was recently on a school trip, I was the camera guy who took all the pictures for the trip. Now we’re making memory albums of the trip, and out of all the pictures that were taken (more than a 100 pictures) I was in 2 of them. I can’t stop thinking about in a few decades, my old classmates doesn’t know I exist.
@@scrungedigger8625 probably not. Well, you'll forget the pictures but not the people. I'm about two decades beyond my high school years but I still remember all my friends and many rando's I never got to know. Your memories don't get disappear in your mid-30s. To the OP, I wouldn't really care whether you were in the school trip photos or not. The people from school that remember you later on aren't going to be made up of the people who see you in a yearbook photo, it's going to be the people you interacted with and became friends with. (and there will probably be some people you don't even know that remember you for the rest of their meaningful lives. I still remember a few girls I had a crush on who probably no longer remember who I am so the reverse could easily be true of you for someone else)
For those of you wondering about the woman who was found after 3 years, her name was Joyce Vincent, a Caribbean-Indian 38-year-old Brit living in a bedsit in south London. This actually happened to me to a point. A girl had been stalking me, when she approached a friend of mine trying to get information on how to "track me down" he screwed with her, told her I had been killed in a car accident, and he SOLD it. She cried, thought I was dead, and proceeded to talk to people about my death. I show back up around my professors after a semester off, and they're all going "Omg.....we....we thought you were dead". I scared the CRAP out of them. Like I started saying. Me and Mark Twain have something in common, the rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated.

Liar. What kind of person says this without a legit source? If you think you’re the person’s friend then you probably should’ve shown proof to people with a link. Don’t you find that fucked up?
Eh.. Good intentions, not applicable to all. It's case by case scenario of why people may end up killing themselves. Honestly, just let them. It's their choice. Only if the person committed major atrocities against their fellow man would i instead recommend a slow and painful death. But all in all it's their choice, i just hope they tie loose ends before the die as to not die with regret. Anyhow, hope you all have a lovely day/night.
Honestly, the documentary made about Joyce Vincent was one of the most moving things I've ever seen. The filmmaker literally pieced together scraps of information about this estranged woman to find out who she was. It's narrated by the people who for a time had been close to her and it's truly heartbreaking. It's one of the most uplifting, yet tragic documentaries out there. I wish more people knew about it.

Hmm. When did that happen
To be fair, it wasn't like he had a carrier pigeon to let them know where he was. He probably knew something like that would happen after being gone for 11 years.
Due to shipwrecks and wartime attacks on ships, none of Guillaume Le Gentil letters he had sent to the Academy or to his relatives had reached their destinations. It's honestly sad to be quite honest.

Miachel’s videos are just like psychedelics. They start with fun and spectacle, then get heavy, and often dark, then the insane amount of information you’ve been taking in starts to coalesce and make sense. Finally, as the message becomes clearer, you are overwhelmed with real hope, a deep sense of purpose, and an understanding.
wow.

Yup
Not sure I agree. It didn't have much to do with disappearing people, did it?
@@JanKirb In my opinion, an introduction doesn't necessarily have to directly relate to the body of a work. One of the best methods my English teacher taught me was to start with an anecdote. In cases like this, where the anecdote doesn't directly relate to the body of work, it functions even better as a hook for the viewer. It keeps the viewer watching/reading because they are curious to see just how the intro relates to the topic of the work.

Is it on Netflix?
@@martinianagbi6129 It's called 'Dreams of a Life' but I'm not sure if it's still on Netflix.
Wow that sounds interesting, I'll definitely have to look into that.
They don't disappear, they just get a new dust filter for their Hoover max extract pressure pro model 60.
