Dang! Guess there was no building inspector when that old floor went in! Fail; Fail; Fail!!! Where I am you wouldn't get away with putting rebar on the base either, has to be lifted to make sure it's encapsulated. But the nice new floor should far outlast the old skimpster! I agree, the double cut looks better than the standard grid. Nice job.

I really respect your craftsmanship - keeping and raising skills in the construction trades. Working colored concrete is a new one for me. There are lots of good jobs out there for people who are ready to learn and work. I thought it was funny the way you described the yellow trowel as "made somewhere in Mexico." A few years ago I went to the Marshalltown factory hoping to find an outlet store. No luck with the store, but I could hear the workers talking inside. Hablando español. We should probably just add Mexico to the United States and complete a marriage that's already happened.

Most concrete plants charge a clean out fee for colored concrete pours. Because if you went to pour a driveway with no color and it turned out pink from leftover dye you'd be upset. So they have to deep clean each truck you use to remove and extra color.

I have been looking to buy in the Tulsa, OK area and there was this one contractor that had a whole neighborhood development to build. He poured the stem walls and then, after passing the slab rebar inspection, pulled it all and went to the next home.

Color is the same with stamp concrete, shade lines can be tricky, best thing to do is build a tent to pourinside so u don't have a shade line
