    I have learned more about picking locks, (something I knew nothing about 1 year ago), for free watching this channel than I ever expected. The only downfall joining the lock picking sport/hobby for me are all the cool tools I want to buy, this one is top of the list and one day will be riding in my truck with me. Have fun all and happy 4th of July to all.

      Yeah. You`ll see when you get started, that "all" the tools and picks, you dont have. Is the ones you think will make you a better picker... This is a rookie "thing" among locksporters, buying a lot of shit, that you dont really need.
      (Or maybe its just me, who has a lot of pick-sets, that I dont use or maybe use 1-3 picks from??)
      They dont make you a better picker, only practice and experience do that.
      So if you want to make your wallet a favor, dont buy all kinds of pick, sets and other tools. But f.ex make your own (this can be really cheap and a lot of fun)
      and you`ll be suprised, how easy it is to make locksmith/sport tools, that cost several hundred dollars, for a few bucks.

    Very new to lock picking. Bought a cheapo set of picks on ebay and keep picking the same 5 locks over and over again. Learning a lot from you and The Lockpicking Lawyer. This tool is really impressive. Gonna have to get a Kronos tool.

      Maybe some, but I think most of those locks have key ways that cause problems.

    • @AngryHatter
      @AngryHatter 6 років тому

      As long as the keyway is open it can open most any schlage/kwikset I have. But when you grab a Euro lock (Newstar etc) with a constricted keyway you'll have problems.

    The gadget lover in me always wanted to try electro picking... But, I can get a lot of manual picks for what they ask for this! - I've checked this out at Multipick, but didn't really realize how much stuff the, Kronos came with! The plug spinner, and circular tensioner, 18650 batteries, yet even more accessories, and replacement items. With the tools to maintain the unit to boot! All in a tidy case. I like the ease of the 18650 batteries, a lot of punch in that package. Love that German engineering. Bill, thanks for the updated review!

    I bought the big orange spinner! I agree that German engineering is second to none but the orange one has that huge spring and it's really hard to break ANY spring! I bought the southord epg when I first started, buddy of mine has the Kronos and I could open better than him "of course I practiced and we all know it makes perfect" but it's not a magic tool! You have to practice with this just like you practice with new picks

      Don't let this fool you. I bought the Kronos based on Bill's original review. I used it for a few days and sold it. Honestly, I messed around with it a BUNCH and couldn't get it to open anything but some 4 pin master locks and the occasional 5 pinner with no security pins. I tried it on a whole host of locks that I have no trouble single pin picking, and in some cases, raking. I don't know how Bill gets this thing to work so well, but at the very least, using it seems to take some skill of its own. I did mess around with different amounts of tension as well as adjusting the travel on the pick. I had very, very little success with it.

  • @frollard
    @frollard 6 років тому +8

    I thought the way to defeat an electric pick was a mix of spring strength so they wouldn't oscillate at the same speed...

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  6 років тому +11

      Yep, that is one of the most common defeats. Another is to use pins of widely varying masses - like one aluminum pin. THAT messes with it too.

  • @AngryHatter
    @AngryHatter 6 років тому

    That you turned me onto the Kronos...Bless you, damn you. (It is expensive but if you enjoy laughing at the lock that had previously frustrated you it is worth it)
    You also imparted the rhythm used to great effect.
    I have seen people with EPGs that depress the trigger as though it was all that kept them alive. (or that vibrator of legend)
    That...on...off...on mamba you do is perfect.
    Incredibly well made, easy to use with an light learning curve. (I opened stuff within seconds of setting the Kronos up where snap guns took quite a while to learn)
    Now I am trying to learn nuanced use.
    The restricted keyways in the UK for instance.
    (I have a Newstar that is kicking my butt)

    I’ve g the wentt gun and the only problem iv had is with assa cylinders possibly with the heavier springs and being fitted on Propertys where you don’t have the same access around the lock
    Most euro cylinders probably 6 minutes maximum
    That looks like a nice gun and works well thanks for the video keep it coming

    High Bill, great video!! Sound was still there, but I agree, it's a gremlin, only there when you speak (maybe try not running a filter on the audio track? Not sure), but it's not distracting.
    Also, I accidentally entered the drawing twice, as the UA-cam name confirmation is covered by the submit button. I'm using mobile chrome. Tried multiple orientations in both "desktop" & mobile modes. Just wanted to let you know so I don't get banned from the giveaways. Keep up the great work!!!!

    My only question is what is the thickness of the pins? I imagine it won't do well on paracentric keyways.

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  6 років тому +3

      You're right, of course. If the keyway is too paracentric to allow the needle to swing and gather momentum, then it won't work.

    That XTAR charger takes much longer to charge up a 2600 mAH 18650 battery (I happen to have those for my e-cig, and the same 0.5A charger). It takes a couple hours to fully charge. I don't mind it, really. I got this idea from somewhere: slower charging also wears the battery in a slower pace. I don't know if it is true or not, but I am hoping it is.

    Mr. Bill, when you insert the needle into the lock, do you just rest the needle against the pins, or do apply any upward pressure against the pins? I have a manuel gun, but i have not practiced very much with it.

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  6 років тому +1

      I hold it as far below the pins as the keyway will allow. That gives it time to gather momentum before striking them. Kind of like punching your little brother - the more windup you have, the better.

    Now, if they come out with a saw-tooth blade, Bill can use it to open all those candy wrappers that have been befuddling him.

    Will this do T pins, what about dimple locks? It looks a great piece of kit Bill and I’d really like one but the price puts me off a bit, guess it’s time to work smarter not harder! Thanks for a great review.

      I suppose if you keep your tension light you can get through T-pins, but it won't work with dimple locks because the keyway is too narrow for the needle to gather up enough momentum to bounce the pins.

    How well does it work for more complicated key ways? I would assume that the needle needs quite a lot of room to move.
