My Man it's been almost 6 months since picked a left handed 5 string. 60 years old and put at least 2 to 4 hours a day. My family think something is wrong with me!!!¿¿ Thank you for caring enough to keep the lessons gone. Thank you..
Jim, i know you probably get this all the time, but you have no idea how grateful i am for your simple, easy to follow, no bulls**t! straight to the point lessons 😁 i never dreamed i could ever play banjo as my background is in irish traditional music, but here i am one week on playing cripple creek relatively okay! I cannot express the extent of my gratitude to you in writing, but thankyou thankyou so much!!! 😁👍 Cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪
@@JimPankey ah you have been? Im delighted you were here We used to have an excellent bluegrass festival here in my hometown of athy, County Kildare Sadly the festival is no more but there is stil a very strong community of bluegrass musicians here. We may even cross tracks some day hopefully! Thankyou again sir!
I played there in 2012 and 2016. First time with Curtis Blackwell. Second time with the Hamilton County Ramblers. I played the Woodbine Festival in Athy with the Ramblers.
Jim, have you ever considered doing a tutorial of Ricky Skagg’s “ You can’t hurt ham”? It’s a really nice banjo song that would be loads of fun to play. I started with your lessons from the beginning, and I’m looking forward to learning this one. Regards, Bradenton Bill
@@JimPankey hey Jim, when are you going to buy a new camera? I was wondering when you're not going to have to look sideways no more and lean down into the camera, other people make great videos but they don't have to look down and sideways and look down up into the camera, they're just kicking back in the room doing their normal thing the camera gets everything. I was just wondering is all. I figured if it was me doing one of these I'd have to have a camera wouldn't have to keep leaning down looking up into the camera so I can you know laughing out loud, okay chat at you later. Harvey on the west coast signing off. Lol lol
Jim, I’ve learned how to pick this in G but at our last jam, our singer wanted to sing it in D. I can’t capo to D so am I stuck with just rolling through the cords in a D tuning?
It's pretty much a right of passage for a banjo player to stumble their way into a break in a different key than they're used to playing. Since you're familiar with how the melody works with rolls in G, I bet (with some trial and error) you can find it in D. :)
Another great one Jim! Thanks! I would like to ask you a question. I'm looking for a banjo around $1,000. Which one would you recomend Deering, Recording King, gold tone ect.? Thanks and have a blessed day!
RK35. I, too, had a banjo budget in that price range. Jim has several videos on the RK35 and I took his advice and got one. It was a fantastic decision and I have never regretted getting one. I absolutely love mine. It has great tone, playability, quality hardware, and beautiful aesthetics. Once I popped a Scorpion bridge on it, it just came alive. Have fun!

I love that melodic lick on the end there! That's a cool way to end it.
Thanks :)
Good job - very doable approach to a cool song
Thanks
Thanks Jim your the best
☺️
Whoa, Thank you so much for making this video!! I'd never thought I'd see someone make a video on how to play it.
Glad I could do it. 😊
Your camera presence is really getting smooth, great audio on both voice and banjo! Thanks for another tutorial!
Thanks for watching 😊

I'm glad I've been able to help.
Welcome to the club, my family calls me a banjo nut. I admit to it.
Thank you Jim. What a pleasant way to break up the afternoon (it's afternoon for me). Very enjoyable.

Brilliant once again jim 👏👍👍

Another great video Jim. Wonder if you might put one up for Petticoat Junction? Keep on rolling! 😊
Petticoat Junction is problematic… I’ve considered it though.

Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Absolutely love these tutorials! Could you do a version of Church Street Blues? I know it's more of a guitar song, but I'd love to hear it in a banjo
I don’t play it on banjo… don’t think I ever have.
