a one-man orgy .. with arms flying .. feet dancing and body rocking! Bach's creation takes you over and puts its pelvis to the throttle; you dissolve as the alien now thrills us with the sound of his ravaging organ while he's swaying to the rhythm of the cosmic beat .. mr balint karosi .. keep playing .. continue forever to serve the muse .. for you are now her slave best wishes
I love you're expression. It seems very fluid and lyrical, but not at all in the classical or romantic sense. I love J.S. Bach and after watching most of your videos, I am in awe of your talent and your ability to bring to life the compositions of the genius organist and composer from the Baroque. Thank you!
he oído esta fuga en muchas versiones y ésta es una de las que más me gusta. Me gusta la articulación tan clara y la registracion transparente. Otras versiones de sonido más lleno no dejan oír las voces. El pedal muy preciso, me gusta mucho cómo toca.
Bravo to organist Karosi. Bravo to the organ builder. The JOY of the heavens and the intellect and soul of Bach shine through this performance. Thanks for posting!
Yes, this is really good! Thank you for not chance manual or stops while playing this fugue! There is so many organists who need Reger-sound at the end. Balint Karosi made my day playing whitout ritardando in the end. The last chord is perfect. I have to searching for more Bach from this organist! Flowers! Sorry for my bad english.
You are the greatest Bach organist I have ever heard. I could listen to this piece over and over again. Your understanding of Bach and the mastery you have of the organ shines. I hope you post more videos. Thank you!
A very good rendition of the fiendishly difficult G minor "Great" fugue. Bravo, bravo. I thought the organist was very fluent and confident. I shall now go seek the Fantasia. For those interested, I can highly recommend Simon Preston's recording on Deutsche Grammophon 435381-2. This interpretation has striking similarities to Simon Preston's. Many thanks for posting this clip - wonderful stuff.
This is marvellous! I have listened to more than 90 recordings (I think) of this fugue. Karl Richter is my "hero" in Bach-interpretations, especially the recording from the early/mid -60's at Jægersborg Church, Copenhagen. And this recording/interpretation is outstanding too, in my ears! I really enjoyed listening to this!! Thanks for sharing!!! :) I'll search for Toccata & Fugue too, played by this brilliant organist! Anybody that knows if it's "posted" here? (Excuse my rather poor English) :)
I've had the pleasure of playing this organ, and although that church looks like a caboose, the organ is FANTASTIC. The 8' plenum in that space is really remarkable. The action is clear and responsive! The organ is unfinished, though, if I remember correctly. Next stop, Church of the Advent!
Zseniális. Nincs olyan felvétel esetleg, ahol Karosi Bálint Bach-tól a "nagy" C-mollt játsza? A BWV 546-ost, azt a monumentális remekművet, prelúdiumot és fúgát. Szerintem sokan szívesen hallgatnánk az ő előadásában.
Wonderful! Great exuberant tempo. STOP BREAKING ALL PEDAL NOTES! You also can't phrase and articulate pedalines if all notes detached. But love the detached fugue subject notes also continued in the pedal. Love your phrasing and articulation. No reed in pedal if none in manuals. Fantastic. Thank you. I needed that. You have made my day.
yeah, that's right, but it's sequence of democracy. When Bach lived, Princes supported artists like Bach, today folk rule, and city councils support only "artists" of pop-culture or techno, hiphop etc.
Do you not agree that it is unbalanced with reed in the pedal but not in the manuals? Why have more in the pedal? I dislike the trend many seem to be following like unthinking sheep that pedal notes be separated. I like separation for phrasing and articulation, but so often the musical line is ruined with the notes ALL separated. Connecting them requires more planning and effort but it is more pleasing.
The tempo is good: it make this long-streched theme more comprehensible. His pedal play is virtuosic: no retarding or delaying; Excellent. Unfortunately he "runs trough" the fuga instead of giving a proper phrasing, which may be sensed as "too fast." He does not use cadences or the completion of a musical thought as points of rest or relaxation.
Once more, after listening one Fantasy by the same organist, why does he use a reed, it would have been good at the end of the fuga. And there is not progression at all, it is a pity in a fuga, remaining on same keyboard and same stops from beginning to end, when we know that Bach liked to change keyboards in a performance... Let's forget this one...

A concert organist myself, I must say I find this interpretaion very refreshing and alive; very close to how I would play it myself. Thank you!

I think FLC is very fortunate to have such a gifted musician - very impressive performance.
I love those staccato notes in the beginning...
What a delight!
A subtitle and well balanced, inspired rendition
The very best
Thank you
kedves Bálint!
gratulálok, keresetlen, szép előadás volt!
kergyuri
Excellently played! And on a wonderful organ too!
Inspiring playing and articulation. More please!
Toujours parfait! Merci!
excellent rendition of this piece, and one of the best i have seen, really enjoyed the clip, thanks for posting.
Excellent organiste découvert en écoutant sur Internet Pipedreams (American Public Media) Une très belle interprétation. du Grand BACH
BRAVISSIMO! I really loved it!

Ahhh, he plays this piece like it's supposed to be played: savagely fast. Well done indeed!!
Well done. This really is a GREAT piece.

Very well played - I love this piece!
BRAVO, great interpretation!
Excellent - my favorite version on you Tube great interpretation pretty sure that the great JSB himself would have approved well done Balint
Very good indeed. I like the registration, nice and clear.
Great job! I love this piece!
The best one ever composed!
very well played.
Very good! I like the registration. Thanks for sharing!

yes, the tempo is perfect - it dances and the articulation is clear, so we hear everything.
perfect.
Bravo!!!!
Very enjoyable!
il joue bien ce petit:)
My mind is blown.
heavenly
We don't know how he plays BWV 543, but this is played very well.
Bach debió ser un gran matemático, la presición de sus notas es casi armonía matemática pura.
mine is the long pedal tone at 3:00 and the way the bass moves up from it in sequence at 3:14
Zseniális.

You have a recording of Bach !?!?! That I would love to hear lol ;-)
Wonderful!
Great exuberant tempo.
STOP BREAKING ALL PEDAL NOTES!
You also can't phrase and articulate pedalines if all notes detached.
But love the detached fugue subject notes also
continued in the pedal.
Love your phrasing and articulation.
No reed in pedal if none in manuals.
Fantastic.
Thank you. I needed that.
You have made my day.
@billy4you2 - thanks to you, too, for a great comment! I thoroughly agree.
yea, but 4:15 is the climax of the piece. all voices are interacting at full counterpoint at that point.
4:15 is my best part!
Agreed 110%
On this organ and in this church it is not too fast, but if you play this piece in a large cathedral on a very big organ, how is your tempo then?
Bravo. Curious: what'd you think of the flat pedals?
There are different parts in a fugue and he should change manual at 1:48 when the "divertimento" begins. Sorry for my bad english too!
giovanni rinaldi, I believe that Karosi try to restore this old music, that's the reason why he don't change manuals.
excuse me... Which are the rhetorical figures you refer to? And where should they they occur, instead of being broken appart?
yeah, that's right, but it's sequence of democracy. When Bach lived, Princes supported artists like Bach, today folk rule, and city councils support only "artists" of pop-culture or techno, hiphop etc.
Where's the 16' ?
Avevi un appuntamento dopo l'interpretazione? Per suonarla im questo modo esitse il computer

Regarding the registration, I have to disagree. That's standard for a Baroque plenum. It helps give the pedal independence and clarity.
Where is the video of fantasy ?
Just a little fast but very good at all. Go to download the score...
@Machru To me a little fast,or the ok tempo
Who is the organist??
The tempo is good: it make this long-streched theme more comprehensible. His pedal play is virtuosic: no retarding or delaying; Excellent.

I agree with you. Not muscular enough, pedal notes are too short.
I'll try again: Who is the organist??!
Dude. Wth. The description
@Esosphere 135 :)
that's a Frobenius
I miss the 16'. Would have more balls.
Once more, after listening one Fantasy by the same organist, why does he use a reed, it would have been good at the end of the fuga.

Ennél tökéletesebben nem is lehet előadni egy művet. Ezt még Bach is megirigylné.
