@donstoner4725 I was spoiled by the E. Power Biggs Bach albums played on the Harvard Flentrop. I do like some Handel operas, though. (Have you read "Handel in London" by Dame Jane Glover? She directs the Music of the Baroque Chorus and Orchestra here.) From Chicago, U.S.A.
This organ is excellent: many years ago, my mother gave me a CD with a selection of Bach's organ works performed by Joan Lipnicott, a true delight! I hope I can know this organ.
I’ve always loved the organ. Our Church organist of 60 plus years and my Uncle played so well. My Mom could also. I guess their influences helped inspire me.
The toccata and fugue in F is a tour de force with excellent execution underpinned by 16' in the manuals and 32' in the pedals. There's another In Dulci Jubilo, BWV729, left out but probably more well known than the one here.
@@bkarosi I see, I have watched most of your other programs and will go back to catch up or revisit them again in due course. They form a wonderful collection and introduced some remarkable organs in the US.
Thanks for the suggestion. There is the repetition or volta indication. Checking the manuscript, the last bar/measure can be considered ambiguous because there is no repetition sign - |; :| -although it allows the possibility of playing either this way or not. Very peculiar, indeed.@bkarosi
Performance practice in Bach has changed over the last few decades. In the past the legato line was important, manuals and pedals, now just about every note is detached.
I tell you what pisses me off. When I went to these same churches and organs to make videos just like this they did everything they could to KEEP ME OFF those organs, but this guy gets an invite to every single one of them. Do you want to know why nobody plays the organ any more? THAT'S WHY. (The AGO had 22K members, now it's 11K) They keep doing this and now Westminster Choir College has gone under. The St. Thomas choir school is going under. Other church music programs and churches are losing members and money like crazy. Because this is the way churches treat you, and people are throwing up their hands and leaving. The damage is done, and it's NOT coming back. GOOD. I am done with the church, and so are many of my friends, and family.
I've had similar experience but not in the US. It was a bit of hit and miss. Two churches just bluntly refused to let me play. A university college chapel I had better luck when I wrote and asked the professor. Another church I offered to help out in their regular services and the organist said yes straight away. I suppose they are very protective of their valuable assets and want something in return but could be more generous to outsiders who are musically proficient and would not do any harm. What's ironic is the one church which refused me they only had an electronic organ, not even the real thing!
I'm sorry that so many places have been unwelcoming to you. I admit that I don't know what that has to do with Mr. Karosi, but you're right that churches and universities ought to be more welcoming. As the current professor at PLU (where this was recorded), I can assure you that you would find an open door. If you're ever in Tacoma, drop me a line!
Loved that you provided your registrations.

@@bkarosi Köszönöm szépen.😇
Bravo! I never miss an opporunity to listen to you play -- hope to hear you in person someday. Highly enjoyable and informative videos!
A beautiful recording of fantastic music. You can't go wrong with J.S. Bach!
"There is nothing better than Bach", Minnie Veldman. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Chicago, U.S.A.
Give me Handel . There are times I find Bach laborious.

Thanks for including the stop list.
I miss these Bach recitals very much. Glad to see one before 2025. And of course, looking forwards to the next one until the end! Kudos to Dr. Karosi
KÖSZÖNÖM SZÉPEN! BOLDOG KARÁCSONYT!
Wunderbare Musik, gelungene Wiedergabe. Danke fürs Teilen.
Merry Christmas Mr. Karosi!!!

Thank you Balint. A fine performance of great music on a magnificent instrument. A very happy Christmas to you and all the best for 2025.
🎄
Wonderful in every aspect. Thank you very much, Balint Karosi, for this beautiful live Christmas video!
Wonderful playing, on one of the 2 or 3 best organs in the U.S.A.! 😁
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Hope to see you again. Please come back to Duke Chapel!
I very much hope to return!

Love BWV 540. Been working on it on and off for the better part of a decade, we'll see if I ever get it to playable...
Nagyon szép volt ! Köszönöm szépen!
Really cool kind of my backyard! Beautiful organ
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Balint!

Thank you! BWV 729 was part of another, earlier Bach Recital

Best Wishes for the New Year from Finland. Enjoyed this much. What type of organ is this?

Happy new year!
Hi, Balint. A doubt to clarify, please: all scores I have of BWV 603 don't have repeat or volta sign. Does some edition have it? Happy New Year!
Check the Barenreiter

Technically Brilliant, if a little robotic. What an instrument though, suits you very well.

You’d be better to call the actual organist if you want to play the organ
