I know Magnus says that lead climbing is boring to watch. But, I beg to differ. I have really bad knees, and I don't boulder. So when Magnus does lead, it gives more motivation to go try more difficult routes! Love these videos
Agreed
Couldn’t agree more…..
Agreed! But I think it also comes down to mixing it up. If Magnus was only doing indoor lead it would get boring. I’m actually somewhat “burned out” by his indoor bouldering content. I think mixing up indoor lead, bouldering and also outdoor climbing would be great. But that’s just my preference and I know his other content gets a lot more views so we will probably see more other content.
+1
I have a bad knee too
Magnus on 8a+ " I'm now just really pumped so I have no chance "
Also Magnus " To end things off tho, am gonna try to campus this whole 7a"
Ye right, was laughing my ass of 😂
My highest grade ever was 5.11c and I worked for it. To see you campus a 5.11d is both inspirational and soul crushing at the same time.
same feeling, watching in awe, while crying inside
no kidding. Years of effort for me and to see him do it so easy, means I will never be great, but I still love it.
@@smuir6104 to be fair to yourself, it was many years of hard effort for him as well
This is what happens when you start climbing as a child. Heck. It’s what I’m gonna do with my kids lol
incredible show of strength. Crazy. Love it. Hate it.
I've started climbing a few months ago and Magnus had a big influence in that. But what amazes me is how EASY he makes it looks. Because of how strong and technical he is, it makes the hardest route seems like it's intermediate. Its crazy.
Honestly, my first time at the gym I thought I'd have an easier time with the holds but Jesus, did Magnus skew my perception of climbing and how hard it is - but it's fun so it's worth it.
I've been climbing for a while and it's a weird mix of motivational and demotivation to see him fly through something that I would struggle to establish on.
Keep it up for 20+ years and you’ll make it look easy too!
that is ssoooooooo true
@@yami2227 honestly I feel the same
Magnus just casually defies gravity, great work with this video! A nice change to see you back on sport routes.
2022 is going to be good with more Magnus gym content like this! Looking strong man! 💪
So true. Nice to see Magnus on a rope again 🧗
i cant wait to see magnus and marte do some outdoor climbing as well. Though, magnus does look really strong indoors and seems a little more comfortable too. Get that 7A Marte!!!
Well at least half of your wish was granted with Magnus free soloing with Alex!!!
13:07 so funny seeing him run up the stairs
You look so happy when you lead climb :) That campus route was insane! Interesting filming angles, including the split screen ;)
I loved seeing his camera guy running up and down the stairs. Lot's of hard work, however, I appreciate it. Tell them both thank you
Loved the split screen, yes. It's easy to underestimate how overhanging routes like that are.
Was that Marcus doing the Ninja Warrior-level camera positioning? Awesome video! Great team effort.
Nice to have some straight up ropes climbing again, and of course Marte is the real star of this channel, lets be honest
Let’s goooo Marte! I’m working on getting there this year too. Does she feel nervous falling on lead? I feel like that’s a major factor for me in my lead grades. Hopefully we’ll both make it happen this year 💪
Hazel findlay has some excellent stuff on fear, I'd recommend it.
@@hotbeefo awesome! I’ll check it out for sure.
That would also be quite interesting to cover!
I also feel like I'm really limited by my fear or uneasiness.
Would be interesting to hear from Marte how she deals with it.
Also the YT channel "Hard is easy"!
Massive campus. That last reach looked impossible but you got so close.
Looking forward to martes 7a.
impossible that far into the route. I think its pretty free for him if it was in the beginning :D
I just sat shaking my head all the way through that...so incomprehensible to me in terms of relative strength and grip endurance...incredible..
Wonder if he could have done that with a figure four? (Is that allowed when campusing? I mean, you're not stepping on any holds?)
I can't believe the great condition you're still in. I know you work hard and all that, but for a "retired climber", you're still crushing at a top tier level.
Marte will absolutely climb a 7a 2022!! That campus was insane btw 😅🤯 cant wait for the video with Pete!
If you can campus any lead route you are stupid strong. Magnus you just did that after trying 2 challenging routes, one you didnt actually complete. Your conditioning is insane and it was a great idea really fun to watch although i thought you were crazy before you started it
I pretty much always find the lead climbing way more visually spectacular than bouldering, but the campusing all the way through the roof in those wide shots that show the scale of the wall is such an insane image that it's breathtaking.
I really like the two camera angles to help us judge the angle of the wall! Sometimes I can't tell if you are upside down or climbing straight up.
Great video of impressive climbs! 💪 I also enjoyed the off commentary a lot where you explained parts of the route and the multi angle shots. Looks very professional and makes it a joy to watch.
Oh, and good luck for the 7a, Marte! Great to see you improve so much and not be (too much) discouraged by Magnus.
The fact that you are giving the cameraman a workout with running up those stairs as you climb is great and hilarious 😅
Super impressive on the first climb. Getting me excited for my climbing session tonight!
Go get it!
YES! Loving this lead climbing content... It would be super cool to get more videos with tactics for lead climbing (e.g., rests) & follow along with your endurance training. Impressed / inspired that Marte is projecting 7a already.
I just wanted to say THANKS YOU for everything you did so far in the climbing scene. You are the reason why I started my own French Climbing youtube and it literally changed my life. I am really grateful and wish you the best for the future!
Are you kidding??! The campus one was jaw dropping! I'm also really looking forward to watching more Marte climbing, she'll crush that 7a!
I have major shoulder problems and I've already had two surgeries and going in for a third so when I see you do this and you're getting up there in age and you've never had a major injury I consistently cross my fingers and very happy for you.
Marte definitely needs to do a 7a! Cheering her on!
My favorite part was just the two of you sitting on the ground talking!
Lead climbing is very satisfying to watch. The crux, the transitions, communication with the belay, even the rests combine to the effect of a chess match where bouldering is a watching only an interesting move.
13:06 i love how we just see this dude running up the stairs to probably get the shot of him climbing. also the gym looks sick. i love how to wall bends around the corner.
Great video, and yes the campus lead route was insane. I really liked the side by side video btw. I wish the IFSC used that during lead comps.
I've never dropped what I was doing so fast to watch a video before. Love when Magnus drops new content. I've just recently became a subscriber and I can't get enough of this content. Keep up the great work man 💪🏼
That campus route is top of my list of cool stuff I've seen so far in 2022
"Now I'm just really pumped, but to end things off I'm going to campus this 7a" - Magnus
Hey Magnus just wanted to say watching your videos is so entertaining and delightful to watch! Your personality with whoever your climbing with is always just wonderful! Just wanted to say I hope we see more lead videos this year their so fun to watch and I can’t wait for marte to get a 7A
Amazing video magnus! Never underestimate how entertaining and motivating just watching you climb can be. Injured my wrist and it sucks cause I can't climb so watching you is the best I can get! Love this
love your videos, always make my day and get me excited for my next climbing sess
Magnus vids turn rest days into “when does the gym open” days
Video quality is just insane Magnus! Love it! Thanks for all the hard work and content.
Excited for Marte to crush a 7A this year!
I loved the camera guy running up the stairs to get a good shot
I need more of these types of videos. I love watching lead climbing and quality filming like this is hard to come by. Really hope you will consider doing more of this🙌
Sometimes I forget how crazy magnus can be but that campus route was pretty impressive.
Started watching you yesterday. Cant stop! Love you man
absolutely killin it magnus💪🏼 Casually almost campused a route at the end of a session. Just makes me realize how much room i have to improve
much love from north carolina ❤️
Man magnus! Can’t tell you how excited I was to see the caption for this video have the words ‘lead climbing’ in it! Love this kind of climbing content!! Thanks Bro for the vids!!
You really just keep impressing with your videos, you never stopped improving. The split screen and different angles are great.
this split screen with dfferent angles is great to see how hard the climb really is !! awesome video !!
I LOVE this kind of video. Just climbing tall routes and simplicity.
Okay, since watching you campus that 7a (or 7a+, l forgot), I can't stop smiling until right now, even after the video has finished, because I just can't believe that amount of strength and power right there XD. You are literally a superhero!
Love watching your lead videos! I also liked hearing your commentary over the video on the first route, it's interesting to hear some of what you're thinking about as you climb. Marte should definitely try 7a :)
Always great to see some route climbing videos! I’m sure you’ll love ice climbing if you try it!
Love seeing some rope climb-graceful and solid. It's always hard to tell how bad a hold or section is, but when I see your back turn red from the blood rushing to the muscles, it's the indicator that what you're doing requires A LOT of strength and stability. Always very impressive.
I recently got into topropeing and seeing you lead climbing is a huge motivation! And seeing Marte progress is a really fun part of the channel and also quite motivational! She should definitely try and go for the 7A. Keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to the upcoming videos ❤
Thanks to Magnus. I started bouldering 2 years ago. End of last year i started doing top rope. This year my goal is to lead climb. All thanks to Magnus, i am ever motivated to go to the gym to keep trying and push myself harder every time. Thank youu. Keep inspiring and keep doing you! Love from Malaysia
Unbelievable strength!! That climbing wall looks gravity defying I can’t believe you can do what you’re doing. I’m not a climber lol these videos just motivate me to work out and I like Magnus :)
Really good video. I enjoy the climbing with voice over and the lead climbing. Thanks for the added effort over bouldering video.
That was crazy to watch! You inspired us to start climbing again 2022
Way to go with your new resolution, caffeine would be a challenging thing to give up! You two have got this!
Also, watching you campus made me realize just how much strength the human body can have! Crazy dude, good on ya!
Thanks to you for making more climbing videos lately. We love campus and we are all with Marte for her first 7A !
Always love your vids Magnus, Keep it up!
Seeing this level of skill and strength is super inspiring, I just want to go to the gym and train!
Video production and editing gets better and better with every video, my guy 🎥💛
You are inspirational, truly.
Thanks for amazing and entertaining video.
I've been addicted to this channel for about six months now. Linked to it through the "Solo" movie which did the usual UA-cam rabbit hole thing. Fascinated by watching these climbers overcome so much with such humility. Very inspiring. So much so, as a woman who could collect Social Security and weighs 1.5 X what Magnus weighs, I went to a bouldering gym my son belongs to despite the idea being ridiculous. I made sure I stayed out of the way of the kids, but when a V0 or V1 opened or the side climbing wall was open, I just tried it. Falling off the wall is the best part because unlike the young, when I fall even from 3 feet I roll. But that in itself gives me confidence. Hey, I can fall. I've gone 3x. Made it to the top 3x on the easiest routs. I get gassed after about six attempts. Done for the day. But I love the culture. Nobody bothers me or looks at me like I don't belong. A few kids even talk about the wall as if I were one of them. (And I know a little jargon thanks to this channel.) Brought my nephew with my son and we spent about 2 hours there. My nephew never climbed before in his life but he loved it. I've only got ten years on him but unlike me, he's in fantastic shape. It's the climbing and the strategy puzzzle we love. So a great day for the three of us. Such a great cuture. I've done a lot of sports young but honestly, there's something really cool about climbers. Unlike any other sport, everybody is on the same team against the wall, which has its own personality. Just a great sport.
Magnus, your forearms are national treasures. I'm lucky if I can campus 15 feet up a boulder route, and you just flexed on that black 7A like it was nothing. Good for you.
I love these route climbing videos, you should definitely make more, I'd defo watch them!!!
The campus lead is so impressive. Great idea and great effort.
Great video as always. Marcus deserves more recognition for his filming! The way he's running up the stairs to get the best view👏
I loved the commentary starting at around 3:22. I don't know much about climbing, so hearing the voice-over describing what's going on from the Magnus perspective was very cool. I don't think the videos of lead climbing are boring, but I think having the Magnus voice-over makes it 1 million times cooler
I'm not even a climber, but I've been hooked on your videos the past few days.😁
You have great energy and amazing content. Keep it up and good luck with all your bouldering shenanigans.
I love having commentary during lead climbing! Makes it even more enjoyable to watch
Crazy man! Keep up the hard work, it shows in everything!
Hey Magnus, just wanted to say some of my favorite episodes you have filmed have been your lead climbing videos as well as the guests that join you (thinking of Pete, Heinz/Nathan).
You have inspired me to start bouldering with the desire to eventually get into lead climbing! So while these video may get less views than other videos, they tend to be my favorite.
Ohh, that was so good! Loved the campusing at the end! Saas Fee is in two days ... woohoo! And finally another video wiith Pete! So excited already for those videos!
Of course we want to see Marte climb 7a :) Also, you're a beast, man. To get close to that level is my dream. Awesome video 🔥💪
it's great that you're so humble. that was insane making it as far as you did.
First of all, big shout out to the camera crew. Those guys deserve a lot of credit!! Secondly, the campus attempt by Magnus was absolutely insane and makes for legendary footage in years to come.
Really enjoyed watching this one 👍
r/praisethecameraman
@@whytie57 Seems like a crew of them. The angles and distance they were getting was perfection
I didn't think it was humanly possible to campus a lead route to that height... 😱you are a beast.
Look forward to more climbing videos with you and Marte! The girlfriend and I enjoy watching all of your videos including the military ones. Keep up the great work!
I think it might be interesting for you to go through your solo climbing routine. Especially for your subscribers who are wanting to improve. Amazing video, looking forward to your next video and the next. Keep up the great work.
Your videos are so inspiring :) Me and my sister got seperately into climbing bcs of your videos a year ago ;D
Great video Magnus, you are really savage! Continue doing videos like this.
Always Is a pleasure to see you! Thanks for all mate! 💪💪💪💪
You're awesome!!! Really enjoy watching your videos! 😃
i am just 1 minute into the video and had to pause because I already recognise, the editing is soo gooood. Good job and thanks for all the videos!
i went bouldering for the first time 2 days ago and absolutely fell in love with it. i just can't wait to be back in the gym tackling challenges, but i just can't cause i'm too sore. but it's good cause otherwise i would be there everyday and spend way too much money on it. as soon as my muscles recover, i'll be back in the gym for sure, i just get my high by watching your videos in the meanwhile.
Your channel and climbing is so inspiring. I just want to go climb now.
Your videos motivate me to get out of my confort zone and try harder routes. Great content!
Power and technique blended perfectly into pure style! That was fun to watch
I'm loving the editing. Well done!
Incredible to hear marte already going for 7a. Like the lead climbing vids!
Great video. I love watching you lead climb.
Great video Magnus! I know that filming lead climbing is a lot more hassle than bouldering, but it’s so cool to watch lead projects like that 👍 Filming style and camerawork excellent as always.
Good luck to Marta with her 7a proj for ‘22!!
This is my fave videos on your channel love lead climbing vids
The split screen showing both the close-up shot and the drama of the total height is fun to watch. Kudos!
Amazing video Magnus! Liked the different camera angles :)
Me : happy when I finally finished a top-rope 6a.
Magnus : campus a 7a while pumped.
This man is an alien.
love to watch you lead! you are such badass so inspiring
Super cool to see the split screen with the two different angles! Gives more of a perspective on how overhung the wall actually is
Enjoyed this video a lot. The commentary on the climbs was a great choice in particular. Would be very cool to see Marte try a 7a.
Love watching you climb.
Loved the split screen with the close up and wide shot at same time.
Boulders and this that done. From a fan's standpoint, these long climbs help me be mentally part of the process. I can see the future holds and problems and watch Magnus solve them for me. I really enjoyed this video. ---- Coffee is a special treat for me. I'd rather have a nice cup instead of a dessert, even when it's black coffee. Good luck with your resolution. Same for Marte!
Love the lead climbing!! Would definitely watch more!
13:57 "It's so much further than you think" he says, with the attitude of a man on a tough jog 😂
