    Three months ago I adopted an 11 year old cat who weighed 11.5 kg. When her owner had to move to a retirement home, Charlie ended up at the local SPCA. She was there for 8 months before I met her. Her size astonished me, but her confident personality charmed me. I don't know how she first reacted to the shelter, but she adjusted very well to my home and dogs. She is on a diet and now weighs 10.6 kg.
    Sumo needed a better chance with far more time in a quiet foster home with an experienced person who could medicate him.

    Why would you not give "Sumo" back to the owner with the instructions on how to feed him? She needed to keep him indoors and feed him much less food. You could even have given the owner help with the food.

      My mother had a huge, very fat cat. She had health issues because of her weight. The vet told her that her weight would kill her. My mom wouldn't listen. She felt that over feeding the cat made her happy (the cat). Lol. The cat died. Some people don't listen to directions if they think their way makes pets happier.

      They couldn’t have given the owner help with the food. I agree the vets should have had the thought they could give Sumo back to his owner to with the instructions on how to feed him. She needed to feed him much less food. The vet said he was used to being in a house.

    That woman shouldn't need a choke chain to control her dog--she needs to do a lot better job of socializing, training, and exercising it.

    No need to put Sumo down. My cat is picky, you just have to try different foods. We did for mine.

    Shame on you all!!! That fat cat deserves so much better than all of you gave. Why not a good foster parent like the leg cat? I've done obese cats and depressed cats and it takes heart. Not an oh well attitude. I'm so hearts icky for that poor boy. You could have should have done better

    They should have tried a real foster that knew cats! I had one I had to use heavy leather work gloves to give him his medication. No excuse to put a sweet boy to sleep. Vets with a heart would have done more out of compassion! I'm not watching anymore of their videos. Amputation when the leg could be fixed. The swan could adapt and go back to his mate!!! EVIL people they are.

    • @josefine7095
      @josefine7095 9 місяців тому +1

      I get their point tho. They have limited resources and for all we know that lady was the only one available to foster him. The swan could adapt, yes, but it would not have been capable of defending itself. It could be that the leg had atrophied beyond saving, or that they simply didn't have resources to have it rehabilitated for a long period of time. These people love animals and want to help them to the best of their abilities. But sometimes their resources are not enough for them to be able to give each animal the 100% care they really need, and it sucks.

    • @TVobsessed
      @TVobsessed 9 місяців тому +1

      Exactly, that swan was already adapting and living fine. It's so sad

    Here's my issue. Three cats, one is obese, one is slender, and one is okay. But they all eat at the same time so I'm a little bit perplexed!? I guess I should stand there and watch them eat and then pull away the bowls and then offer the bowl back to the one that's slender? Good thing I don't work full time!! Because I have to wait a couple hours for the slender one to not be intimidated to eat because of the other two. SORRY, 1st world probs!!

    • @littleblackcar
      @littleblackcar 8 місяців тому

      You feed them separately. One of my cats needs prescription food. I feed her locked in the bathroom and the other one just in the hallway, then put the food away. The big cat can't bully the smaller one, who doesn't need the fancy food, away from her meals and they don't eat each other's food.

    I'm not watching any more of these videos. I enjoy seeing animals rescued & having great outcomes, but to be so-called experts, these SPCA staff members certainly seem to approach things differently than the rescuers I usually watch. I've seen some hard cases become completely socialized & rehabilitated, & go on to wonderful forever homes. As I said, I'm not watching this channel anymore. Too disappointing.
