For some reason, I regard your videos as the gold standard. When I watch others, I judge them based on what you would do. I silently scream at them, "You call that a restoration? You literally sanded it down and painted it. Ridiculous!".
Sand? "Grind the shit out of..." would be more accurate to describe what they do, butchering the tools. 50+ years of rust took less metal off than some of these so called ""restoration"" channels
I really enjoyed the narration of this video. It adds so much of your train of thought when restoring this project. Thank you and keep up your excellent videos. Mike
man, I don't know if I'd want more of these, on one hand the extra info is nice, but these kind of vids are more just mindless hypnotic images of tools and whatnot, it works with minimal narration
I agree. He's so good at showing what he's doing that there's nothing that _needs_ to be said. It kinda feels redundant if he explains what you can already see. But maybe I feel that way because I'm used to his videos without commentary.
Mustie1 or Darren, The best mechanic of UA-cam, I think it's right to describe what you do, even if the visual narrative does the most, in your work requires a vocal comment to specify. You two are my favorite channels.
Interesting, thanks for that. I first watched the silent version, then this one. Its hard to say which one I like the more. If I had to choose, I would favour this version with your vocal comments: 1) It's extra content, and it's informative 2) The voice is recorded at the exact right volume level 3) Just the right amount of speech and information, still not disturbing from watching. => I like it very much, great thanks !
I was totally surprised to hear you speak, when you watch something that is not narrated then you hear the person speak your voice is not what I imagine, you really have s great speaking voice. I am always amazed at your a ability to take on a task an then the end result. THANK YOU I ALWAYS ENJOY WATCHING.
Since I have always watched them without narration, it is super nice to have narration. You'll have to through us cheapo's one every now & then. Thanks love your video's.
Sometimes it maybe better to leave things as they are but you bring these things back to life you make it so they can fulfill their purpose again. We really enjoy watching you work.
I like the narration! Its nice to hear your thoughts on it and what you're doing for those of us who are interested in this work but dont do it ourselves.
For someone with my level of knowledge of anything mechanical, making the average slug look well educated, the narration is fantastic. Another beautiful restoration.
I personally like the narration on the videos. It gives more insight to what you're thinking while you do them. I do love your work and I look forward to every video.
Have always loved HTR classic but this narrated version is fantastic option. Definitely gave helpful information for the uneducated (i.e. me) to learn the correct part names; get more history on the tool, it's use and the company itself; and more on what your process is. Hope you do more narrated versions, really dug it! CORRECTION: Might have to become a patron then!
I can't recall hearing him sayin' ehya or you bet. And he's Canadian? 😉 Now I can die in peace. I got to hear my favorite restorer's voice! Thank you so much for what you provide.
Dude now i like this better. You took the time to explain. ... without being a jackass... great job man. I like having the explanation better than just watching without one. It helps to know some of the history of the tool.
To be honest - I think I like the non-narrated videos better. It is very "meditating" to watch, and also it is kind of the signature feature of your chanel (most other restauration channels have lots of Music and talking).
Thank you for your great video. 👍I thoroughly enjoy the voices over it is so good to hear a true tradesmen explains how and why he did it , I am a tradesman off over 30 years experience and l have seen same so call tradesmen who haven’t a clue why they should do it and to see their work it’s terrible they have no pride in their work , looking forward to another great video thank you
Thank you for sharing your videos and your restoration work. You have almost reached 500k, reached that goal, the future has no boundaries. I hope to see your future videos, or made by others always like yours, who have inspired dozens of UA-camrs, however you remain the best. Greetings from Venezia.
Hi . I actually liked all the videos of yours spishly the tools and the techniques you used in it , and l liked the funny things and actions you did and the tricks you done. I admire the wide knowledge you have. I wish to you the best and hope you 'll presents more videos .
Good timing on this narrated version. I had a problem reattaching a steel plate on a vise. They used drive screws but your lathe just used brass nails. I'll try that. Thanks.
Maybe a bit of threadlocker on the tool rest screw would keep it together better? Doesn't seem like it ever needs to come apart, so red threadlocker would be a bonus as it would match the paint! I like these narrated videos, it really takes your standard videos to a different dimension hearing you talk about rebuilding these. Meditative vs informative, it's a nice change of pace.
Ive got a crane lathe that ive been trying to setup to make 11inch banjo drums so more lathe videos would help me out love your videos and i will get one or two of those awesome wrenches soon keep up the work!
Nice to hear your sultry tones but seriously eh, you do such a good job with the silent videos I can understand what you are doing each step of the way. Two thumbs up!
If your going to fill that tub Eric... Then make a fine mesh screen first for it that you can put in the bottom and lift out with some string or summat... That way if you drop owt in it...you can easily get it back without having to go fishing or diving...
Too bad, I’d watch more of these, but just love too many channels to pick one to Patron. Keep up the good work though. PS: I support all of them by paying for UA-cam Premium so I do put my money where my mouth is. Thanks for the content.
I actually like the narration and hearing your thought process throughout the project. I know there's a lot of naysayers out there but how about releasing two versions of your videos from now on? Who knows maybe the narrated ones might become more popular.
So I have watched the other video. Now I’m watching this one and it’s way better. I’m always wondering what your thoughts are while your working on this stuff.
Not hating but i like your non narrated videos, your actions speak louder then words, sided with your sence of humor makes for awesome vids..... keep up the good work, just because its old and busted doesnt mean it can't be great again 👍👍 and you prove that one tool at a time.
Great videos. Minor point, but this is not a treadle lathe. Treadle lathes became bench lathes with few if any changes, just a motor was added below or behind the head stock. The look of this lathe is definitely post treadle era.
I have a Millers Falls miter saw from probably the same era. It uses the exact same grey/red color scheme as your lathe. I believe you may be right that this one was built or finished by Millers Falls, after they acquired the company. You should get one of the MF miter saws for your collection. They are awesome.
Dude I wish I had money to spare. I would definitely pay to hear this every time I watch. Been watching for over a year.
Guys, he’s speaking Canadian. *turns on captions
You always wanted to hear Ray Romano narrate restoration videos.
I hear more Ron Swanson.
@@HandToolRescue I was expecting Red Green...
@@HandToolRescue you sound a lot less like Ray Romano now - new camera maybe? PS - this episode needs more Nick Cage
Definitely Ray Romano.

A Red Green Possum Lodge narrated version would be very Canadian Eh!!

@Mike Nunyabizness I feel I've ran across your comments before. Good show!
Trey Cook same here, lol
Yeah me too

Word! The red cirkle of perfection!!
I really enjoyed the narration of this video. It adds so much of your train of thought when restoring this project. Thank you and keep up your excellent videos. Mike
Welp...didn't know I needed your sultry voice in my life but here we are...
Let my sensual voice soothe your ears.
@@HandToolRescue How many Patreon dollahs do we need to give you to a complete narration of Dune? (With additional commentary)

Happy to see this.
I kind of like the narration. It explains how he got it apart an what he had to do to restore the peace.
Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your Patreon videos...having a narration is more informative --
Awesome!
Nice voice-over, nice lathe.

I refuse to believe this is what you sound like. I will continue to hear you as a 1980s wacky cool uncle character from a sitcom.
