I have about 1000 sqft in-ground garden space. I’m in a much different climate, SE Georgia, and I’ve had a pretty poor summer garden. My spring garden did pretty well. I struggle with root knot nematodes and heat and humidity over the summer. Most farmers around me use chemicals to deal with the RKN but I try to just use marigolds and resistant varieties so it’s a battle. My tomatoes did especially poorly so that was a bummer but it’s not a good climate for them. Tropical Storm Debby dumped 14” of rain on me in 2 days and killed almost all of my beans, tomatoes, tomatillos, ground cherries, and sunflowers. It was pretty much a garden catastrophe, so I’m just glad for anything that’s still growing. I lost 15 of my rosemary plants, all but one. I was trying to grow a hedge… I’ve not had good luck trying to root them in water so I must be doing something wrong there. Thanks for all the information you share in your tours!
It's such a journey every year isn't it. And so hard on your heart to see things you've put so much time and attention into die. I'm so sorry. I edit and curate every year what I'm willing to try again. Sometimes its not worth it. Sometimes I just need a year off to let my heart heal. Sometimes I need a new strategy (covered growing, growing in pots/raised beds, shade cloth). I SO feel you. I think rosemary is a long game and there's something about the growth stage that matters I haven't figured out yet. I've had it root in a week and I've had it root in a month and I've had it just die and never root. I never know what I'm going to get. Thanks for watching!
So love your garden tours. You are great with the presentation.
Your tour is very helpful. Thank you so much! I have a hot dry climate too and learning all I can about how to garden.
