I love this song. When I hear it I think back to when I was just a small boy growing up in West Virginia. My Father was a coal miner, my Mother just a house wife, however both of them were Christians and loved the Lord. I can still see and hear Mommy calling for me to come home and eat because it was Supper Time. Mommy will have been gone ten years on the 18th. of this month and I miss her and Daddy so much. I am 63 now, I will always miss them.
my dad sung this song all the time when he passed away it was sung at his funeral to this day I can close my eyes and see him singing it and I know one day we will gather once more for supperime
Such a testimony if strength and God's love, I sang at my moms, my dads my sisters, my brothers going home services, takes great courage to honor your loved ones with your gifts ......May we all be joined together with our loved ones one day where Jesus says, no more sorrow, no more pain no more sickness, no sickness , no more parting every again. We don't always know what God's plan is, but we know he has one. Even when we are hurting. Thank you for sharing dad's,
I love to hear this song it reminds me of my papaw before he passed he loved this song its hard to think I'm going to meet him in heaven with Jesus I can't wait till that day comes
when my auntie passed away it was hard for me to keep going without her and i would playing outside. When it was my papaw turn to go home to be with lord and my auntie. i sing this song to honor them. I break down crying thinking about them but ik they are waiting for me in heaven

«Suppertime» Ira F. Stanphill Ira Forest Stanphill (1950) (February 14, 1914 - December 30, 1993) was a well-known American gospel music songwriter of the mid-twentieth century. Suppertime 1. Many years ago in days of childhood I used to play till evening shadows come; Then winding down an old familiar pathway, I heard my mother call at set of sun. CHORUS: Come home, come home, it's suppertime. The shadows lengthen fast. Come home, come home it's suppertime, We're going home at last. 2. One day beside her bedside I was kneeling And angel wings were winnowing the air. She heard the call for suppertime in Heaven And now I know she's waiting for me there. CHORUS: 3. In visions now I see her standing yonder And her familiar voice I hear once more. The banquet table's ready up in Heaven, It's suppertime upon the golden shore. CHORUS:
My Dad use to sing this to us kids back in the 50's. It gives me "Glory Bumps" to hear George sing it! (and a bit of a tear in my eye)

One of the most beautiful songs, ever!
But Slim Whitman's version is much more beautiful!!!
