There has never been a singer like Glen Payne. Perhaps the most crystal clear voice you'll ever hear. But more than that, he communicated music better than anyone ever has.
This quartet gave the world something very precious... the Word of God in song like it was supposed to be sang, ...ANNOINTED!! I'm so thankful for people who obey God and let Him use their talents to His glory so that we as christians can be encouraged and that a world of sinners can be saved. I can hardly wait to get to heaven to see Jesus and the Cathederal Quartet! In His Hands Always }i{ ~ Scott
I used to listen to Cathedrals CDs on my way home from college. It was only about a 3 hour drive, but lonely for a young girl, who was having a lot of questions about the faith she'd been raised with. I'd sing along to those songs, and feel renewed when I got home safely, which I always did. Thank you, Jesus, for parents who loved you and loved to sing your praise.
You can feel the love that George and Glenn have for each other. They spent many, many years together. Both are in Heaven rejoicing together with Jesus. But, while we are on God's earth,we have a hope of "Then Came the Morning" no matter what we are faced with as God's Children in this 'old world. He knows what's going on and He is still in control..............Gwen Weaver
After listening again to this version, I am impressed with the attention they obviously paid to interpreting the song, to dynamics, and vocal blend. Some of the turns and twists in the dynamics are almost gut wrenching....very impressive. And some people say all southern gospel is just always loud.
@@lindaherman1899 The Cathedrals' careful attention to dynamics is one of the reasons they are my favourite SG group. They really gave their best to the Master. I honestly don't hear it from other groups.
Used to spend a lot of time having discussions about who was the best this, that, or the other. Some descended to arguments. Finally when I got old I thought The Lord does not see one as better than the other. It is the message and the power of the Holy Spirit to use these great men of God to bring real joy into people's hearts while they sing about His Son. They are all the best in one way or other and I love to hear them all and what each brings to a particular song. Thanks to them all!
Fantastic song performed by a truly anointed group. I love when Glen Payne gets excited (3:42). I miss Glen and George, but, I would never ask them to come back. They're singing in that Heavenly choir with my mom.
Absolutely amazing! I could listen to this stuff all day long ... oh wait i already do. Glenn is superb and the surrounding vocals can't get any better. You just have to love Danny at tenor on a song like this.
What an incredible song. Glen Payne is greatly missed. The way he could weave his way into a song and make it his own. In my opinion there's just been a handful of singers who could do this the way he could. His version of this song is my favorite.
WOW. I have the studio version of this with Kirk Talley singing tenor, but it is out-shined by this live version. Danny is amazing and so spirit filled in his singing.
I sing Basso and My FRIEND..George Younce..A REAL Christian!!!..a Real Man!!..a Real Patriot!..:) We Love You George..my Favorite Basso. :) Many fine men here..Danny Funderburk, Roger Bennett, and Glen Payne and George Younce..BOTH Good Friends..Gospel Singing At It's BEST! :)
Yep, you sure can tell Danny is singing about what he truly believes. And that what makes him so great. Not only his great voice and singing ability, but the fact the he loves what he sings.
Beautiful, powerful song and singing! The clouds had vanished before the "Son", praise God. That's what He can do for your life... drive the clouds away and bring peace unto your fears... Amen.
3 things that make this version AMAZING....Slowing it down, Danny sustaining high D's full voice, and then Glenn keeping the 2nd tenor part on the ending, something he only rarely did when Mark and Scott were there to do the heavy lifting under those high tenors. But that was the Cathedral sound-hearing Glenn belt out an F or G under the tenor with George knocking the bottom out of the chord! Those were the days!
Glenn Harris It's interesting how opinions very on Cathedral lineups. I thought the last version of the Cathedrals with Ernie and Scott was the weakest they ever had. As far as sheer power, I don't think anyone would argue that Danny's era was the best. However, for me, I think the best blend they ever had was with Kirk Talley singing tenor. Just my opinion. All the best to you.
Saw them sing this song in person many years ago at an all night sing. Classic Cathedral Quartet. Amazing voices. I remember George Younce saying of Glen Payne, 'he always hit the notes right in the middle.'
Wonderful, marvelous hymn. I didn't know the Gaither's had written it. This day after resurrection Sunday was perfect timing. Praise God, praise Jesus, praise the Holy Spirit
It doesn't. It says "“In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.” Note "began to dawn toward" . He was already risn. :-)
@BnCSGMusic about 8 years ago, i had the opportunity to attend a week long "boot camp" style school of gospel music at which Danny Funderburk was one of the teachers. he is absolutely a class act all the way, very gracious and humble. his heart is so tender and sold out to what he believes. he does love the music, and the Lord with all his heart
I'm saying with the with the gospel Aires and I can tell you the cathedrals were and inspiration to our music and God bless them being able to hear their music and we could send it to brought us closer together and and with God plus the gentleman that now with thank you very much the family's it brought it is so much closer thank you very very much god bless dale kistner
They all walked away, with nothing to say, They'd just lost their dearest friend. All that He said, now He was dead, So this was the way it would end. The dreams they had dreamed were not what they'd seemed, Now that He was dead and gone. The garden, the jail, the hammer, the nail, How could a night be so long. Then came the morning, night turned into day; The stone was rolled away, hope rose with the dawn. Then came the morning, shadows vanished before the sun, Death had lost and life had won, for morning had come. The angel, the star, the kings from afar, The wedding, the water, the wine. Now it was done, they'd taken her son, Wasted before his time. She knew it was true, she'd watched him die too, She'd heard them call Him just a man, But deep in her heart, she knew from the start, Somehow her Son would live again. Yeah, that would be right. I wasn't thinking. Something Special was '82 I think, that had this song on it. This is by far the best version I've ever heard anyone do of this song. Glenn singing from the heart and Danny skying really send it over the top. There's also something very pleasing about just bass and piano.
My wife is a Fan too Amber Noah, our 15 year old grandson sings right along with you. He's like Papa she's got something don't she!! Out of the mouth of babe's, like the Word says. I said yes son, that's the Holy Spirit moving in a willing vessel. The Spirit is No respecter of person's Who do ever will.
GREAT SONG [[]] I WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING ABORTION UNTIL I DIE OR FLY ! YOU CAN HELP . LET THE SUPREME COURT KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. IT WILL HELP . [[]]THIS IS MY MISSION FROM THE LORD .[[]]
There has been a lot of singers to sing this song but this is the very best
One of my favorites sung by the Cathedrals!
There has never been a singer like Glen Payne. Perhaps the most crystal clear voice you'll ever hear. But more than that, he communicated music better than anyone ever has.
I think David Phelps is in the same company regarding communicating song.
Three nails plus one equals Forgiven, thank you Jesus Christ for what you have given us!!❤❤

Praise God!
The fact that the crowd stayed in their seats is unbelievable. The end of this song would be a time to get up....standing ovation worthy for sure.
Agreed! I would have been on my feet shouting and praising God! A phenomenal song, and wonderful singers!
Those people should have been jumping for joy. How could they stay in there seats????????? Wow!!!!! Perfection, Cathedral 's

This song reinds me of how Jesus saved me. Why he loves me I cannot understand, but i love him for all He's done for me.
My husband passed a few months ago these songs give me hope thank you Jesus

This is awesome!!! These wonderful voices and spirit can never be replaced!!! I miss George and Glen tremendously! What a blessing!!
Glen Payne was a great man and a wonderful singer. I loved him.
Love this Song
Praise God!
Glenn's father lived one street over, when I was growing up. I still get chill bumps when I listen to this song.
My most favorite quartet ever. I learned of them when I was in grade 8. Now I'm 42. I sure miss those guys.
I sure miss The Cathedrals!! I love this song. It says so much!
I miss these guys so much. I'm just so thankful and blessed that I got to see and hear them, in person, back in the 70's.
This line up was probably the best. I know there are other opinions, but I really like this group.
WOW!,WOW!
After listening again to this version, I am impressed with the attention they obviously paid to interpreting the song, to dynamics, and vocal blend. Some of the turns and twists in the dynamics are almost gut wrenching....very impressive. And some people say all southern gospel is just always loud.
I read somewhere, there isn’t another quartet that can do this. They seem to do it with every song!!
@@lindaherman1899 The Cathedrals' careful attention to dynamics is one of the reasons they are my favourite SG group. They really gave their best to the Master. I honestly don't hear it from other groups.
What meaning beautiful!
That is what Easter is all about!
Thank Lord!
Praise God!
Thank you Bill and Gloria, your songs have been inspirational to many, the world over. Thank you for allowing the LORD to use you.
Best Cathedral lineup.
The greatest Quartet + 1 that ever sang a gospel song I truly miss George Younce. He was the best ever
Yes...and so grateful that we can still hear them on here....
My absolute most favorite gospel quartet, through all the years and all their changes in singers
Used to spend a lot of time having discussions about who was the best this, that, or the other. Some descended to arguments. Danny is nothing short of awesome
The best lineup of the cathedral quartet
The BEST version of this beautiful song I've ever heard. Missing George and Glen...
Sure do miss George Younce and Glen Payne! See you in heaven, singing at the feet of Jesus!
Fantastic song performed by a truly anointed group. I love when Glen Payne gets excited (3:42). I miss Glen and George, but, I would never ask them to come back. They're singing in that Heavenly choir with my mom.

Just a fantastic song by a great group.

Bart Fey Don’t forget Mark Trammel
Yep, you sure can tell Danny is singing about what he truly believes. And that what makes him so great. Not only his great voice and singing ability, but the fact the he loves what he sings.
Love this song and love this group, thank you!!
this is the best formation of the cathedral quartet
These guys are amazing and so is the song! GO GOSPEL!
Listening to this Easter April 12 2020 during the Corona pandemic ... The song couldn't be more encouraging
Ezra Samuel Amen Happy Resurrection Day!!! Thank You Jesus!!!
He is a loving God. He WILL get us through this

+TruthHurts58 I think Scott had a great Baritone, tied in my book with Mark Trammel, but the best tenor goes to Danny.
Saw them sing this song in person many years ago at an all night sing. Classic Cathedral Quartet. Amazing voices. I remember George Younce saying of Glen Payne, 'he always hit the notes right in the middle.'
His vocals scream perfect pitch. It’s noticiable in Hard Trials from 1997 Texas
I agree overall but the live video off of climbing higher and higher there's some pitch issues with Man I Used to Be
BEAUTIFUL SONG AND VOICES AMEN!
So beautiful...….brings tears...!!
Wonderful, marvelous hymn. I didn't know the Gaither's had written it. This day after resurrection Sunday was perfect timing. Praise God, praise Jesus, praise the Holy Spirit
***** You SDA?
+Diane Burtnett Then why does the Bible say it was on the first day of the week?
It doesn't. It says "“In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.”
Note "began to dawn toward" . He was already risn. :-)
Amazing I love this song

Praise God!!!!! Some churches believe it is praising the singer not God when they applaud or give an ovation.
Yeah, that would be right. I wasn't thinking. Something Special was '82 I think, that had this song on it. This is by far the best version I've ever heard anyone do of this song. Praise God that morning has come

Beautiful
One of my favorite Easter/Resurrection Day songs.
the video is from "An evening with the Cathedrals"
Is one of the best
You are absolutely correct....Glen had that edge or "cut" that Scott doesn't have....Mark came close, but nobody can touch Glen.
boy I miss George, Glen, Roger wow what a great quartet

Danny Thunderbird, words Describe
This Song was originally about creation. It goes: God made the morning shadows vanished before God's throne...
The Spanish translation of Then Came The Morning was made by one of the nuns in Mother Teresa's order who was from the Indian port city of Madras.
GREAT SONG [[]] I WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING ABORTION UNTIL I DIE OR FLY ! YOU CAN HELP . LET THE SUPREME COURT KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. IT WILL HELP . [[]]THIS IS MY MISSION FROM THE LORD .[[]]
Don't forget that is Roger Bennett on the piano
