This is a driving tour of LA I made in 1985. Was posted on my 1st channel Wksufreshair. I own no rights to music played in my car during the filming of this video.
Isnt it crazy to think Richard Ramirez could have been on that same freeway, its so crazy he was just roaming around, and none of his victims knew that they would be gone soon....

Born and raised in LA, and got my driver's license in 1985. Watching this footage is like a first-person point of view of what I experienced driving through the city at that time. Very cool! Agree with those that say it largely looks the same, with more traffic and more skyscrapers. Skid Row has always been there, though I haven't been to LA since the start of COVID-19 to see how the homeless situation's increased.
I live near La but I'm young so I never experienced this era of the city. The current homeless situation is pretty terrible. You're almost guaranteed to find at least one homeless person nowadays.
Man, this video is so surreal to me. I was about two-years old when this video was made, and to see some footage of LA when I was a toddler is priceless. One of the things that caught my eye and that was so 1980s-centric about this video was the footage of a 1984 Neoplan RTD bus driving through the streets of Hollywood. That bus in this video had just been put on the streets a year before this video was made. Thank you so much for this video. For years I've seen still pictures of 1980s LA but not too many videos of 1980s LA.

One of the best vehicles of the 80's was the old Chevy Caprice cars with the chrome bumpers, v8 engine and box shape, I had 3 of them over the years...they were beautiful

I lived at the Hastings Hotel in December of 1985 and used to walk all over Hollywood when we lived there it is interesting how many thing's change but are still the same... Hastings Hotel has since been demolished it was the golden era of Hollywood in the 1920s plus Rajis was a Music haven for Guns N Roses Nirvana, Love Pygmy Circus, Jane's Addiction...
