    I usually pay between $7-15 USD per shrimp, when starting a new tank. The most expensive shrimp I’ve purchased were deep blue bolts at $25 each. They started breeding within 4 weeks and breed blue bolts at a pretty high rate. Most of those are deep, but some are the lighter standard blue bolt. Not sure the exact percentages. They also produce some shadow pandas that have a very rich blue and like those just as much!

      Thanks for sharing. This is great information. I just sold my bluebell colony and didn't realize there were over 60 in there

    I suggest trying Malawa shrimp, they are very hardy caridina and great cleaners. Their appearance is closer to amano shrimp.

    From my experience since I know this ornamental shrimps till now, to be honest if may I am, the most beautiful shrimps which amaze me "when I see them by myself" Is red bee from Japanese farm/breeder, I don't say others is bad or something like that, but I see different focus which make Japanese can really amaze me and other hobbyist, while the other enjoying looking for new color and pattern, some Japanese really focus on the quality which results on bold colors, thick, and even bigger.
    I see the same with their koi fish.

      Amazing comments! I agree about the quality from Japan breeders

    I've kept ghost shrimp and had a self-sustaining group in a community fish-tank for a year or so. Most I've paid $8/shrimp for Painted fire-red cherries @ local pet store. Current ones I have were about $3.50/shrimp...mediocre/high grade. The Skittle shrimps are mostly very young juveniles and range from high to low grade.
    I'm in my first go around of keeping a shrimp only tank...and My shrimp had shrimplets 3 days after arrival. Shrimplets are about 8 days old, and are prevalent in the 5 gallon planted tank. With the right lighting you can just barely catch glimpses of color starting to show up on their mostly clear bodies.

    Awesome video, any idea how long it'll take to go from wild form shrimp to ornamental style shrimp? I am keeping caridina formosae as reference

    Hi there, I did not understand why shrimps are sometimes dropping their eggs. Could you please tell me more?

    • @revix9465
      @revix9465 Рік тому +2

      hi I’m not him but shrimps aren’t supposed to drop eggs they r supposed to carry them. all dwarf shrimps aren’t supposed to drop them so it’s either that the shrimp aren’t good mothers ( funny I know ) or something is wrong and you should check it ouy

      Yes I'll do a video. But could be many factors like young mom or stress or wrong water parameters or too many males. The key thing is they produce eggs around every 3 to 4 weeks during breeding season. So if this time doesn't work, leave it and try a few times more before adjusting things

    Do you use tap water for all your shrimp tanks? Since the vancouver water parameters are perfect

      @RWAquariumPages  Рік тому +1

      Great question. I used to but then got a rodi unit on sale and use it. Need to watch out for chlorine and also heavy rainfall. So I find rodi semi safer

      @@RWAquariumPages i see. I can only imagine how much time one would be able to save if it was fully tap water.
      Love the royal blue Orange Eyes btw! Hope i can get those very soon

      @Shrimp Culture a lot of local refers just use tap water and they're really picky about their water. The issue I have with my oerbt is I feel they're too dark with a blue sheen but not totally black like black diamonds. Oh well
