I’m right there with you on getting better at maintenance. Just like I have several unfinished sewing projects, I also have some unfinished plant projects. But this year is going to be different at least, that’s the goal! 😂 For now, I’d rather focus on taking care of the plants I already have instead of adding new ones. Glad to hear you enjoyed Notion. I hated it. LOL! Give me Excel spreadsheets all day long. Great reflection!
I think in the plant community we been delaying with trying to be more intentional and having less. I know that for the last two years I been trying to get better at displaying my plants and giving them a better environment like pots and soils. I been doing more gardening 👩🏻🌾 so I entered a new world where I must learn
As I commented in another video I too am having to down size. I also suffered the thrips issue. This is what brought me to my knees with how many plants I have. I finally got a spray from the nursery. It had to be used three times first 7 days then at 14 days and again at 14 days. THEN I also treated the soil with Bonide granules. Each total spray down for every plant I have took me 19 hours. After spraying the plants had to dry before I could put them back out into the house from the two bathrooms I was spraying them in. This finally worked but it totally kicked my old butt. It also destroyed many of my plants. Thankfully it worked. I no longer put my plants out on the front porch. I had half my front porch enclosed to make a sun porch for my plants year round. Just tonight I had to chop down my variegated Burl Marx. I totallychopped off the main stem and made 4 cuttings. I have the all green planted in the same pot. It will be fine . It just hurts mentally to have to butcher such a gorgeous plant. I do not set goals unless they are mental daily goals of what I hope to get done.
I feel like for me 2024 was survival mode, in all aspects of life (financial, as a parent, as a person, as a plant owner) Praying for 2025 to feel more fulfilling and less just trying to get through
I’m getting my first greenhouse cabinet 21:32 tomorrow 😆 I was thinking of doing the same of putting the light in front. The only thing is I wouldn’t want anyone to be tripping over it. Still figuring that out
I am embarrassed to say that I have done nothing with the Gigas from you besides water the moss. My Painted Lady and PPP both need complete restarts. My Esquelleto has been living in fluval since I chopped it 2 years ago. And I restarted a few hoya on Saturday due to mealies. 2025 is definitely the year of managing the collection I have! And if (when) I inevitably buy new plants, I really need to get rid of ones I no longer "love".
hahaha that's totally fine! I literally have so so so many plants to repot and put on poles and chop up... goodness. I'm part excited, part overwhelmed to tackle all of it.
Plant burnout? No, been avoiding it by downsizing in time (when the care starts to feel like a chore in stead of fun) Approach to plants: downsize by 20 species… plus a one in = one out policy (so if I want 1 new plant Ill have to rehome 21 in total) Specific goals: aside from blooming more Hoyas, not really 😅 Resetting plants: not really, but will have to keep on top of chop&propping and trellising
@ I find it difficult to keep a sane approach when “the whole world” seems to be influencing to get moremoremore… But listening to that will make noone happy (not for long term anyway) We definitely don’t have to be/become minimalists, but being intentional, knowing what we are getting ourselves into… it helps in staying happy and enjoying our plants 🪴🪴🪴 Plants are the best!

I totally relate to that. I hope that you will find more rest in 2025!!

@@sproutswithjoy SAME.
I totally understand you.
Sticking up to some certain plants we are already experienced with should be the goal and mastering their care
🥍 😉

that's good to hear! I think most of us plant hobbyists need to practice that kind of intentionality 💕 that's how we can keep doing what we love!
