Don't forget the 10ml of oil in the lowers(grease is not working). It's the biggest difference to make the Suntour forks work like every other(RS, Fox). I don't like when reviewers don't do it and set the expectation for the viewers that Suntour forks are not performing good, especially in small bump sensitivity. Another problem is the negative spring, since it's coil and not adjustable proportionality to the positive air spring, so for different air pressure you need different coil spring rates. Unfortunately another reason for not performing at it's best in stock form. I thing the stock negative spring is for around 90-100psi.

Gotcha Teodor, I see were you are coming from. But we review things as they come to show how you should expect it to or get an idea. I can see changing it up now adding some more oil or thicker oil too

For me, Raidon34 requires more testing and takes time to be adjusted to ones personal preference. I currently have mine at 130mm full travel, pumped to 70psi (160lbs weight), making it plush for smalls and added 15ml of fork oil to the air chamber (ghetto token) to progressively support the bigs. I jumped mine on a 20feet gap and didn't bottom out. Needless to say, I'm impressed with the fork and brand and now consider jumping to Auron/Durolux category. I ride a dartmoor primal Enduro/trail hardtail btw

Man that's great, we ride the fork a bunch. It is a realtims review, but after the first ride we do ride on it more especially this fork. I will say it has broken on more over time and we do have it installed on the Marin at the moment.

That crash looked like it hurt bro, I cracked my ribs many years ago, never known pain quite like it, glad you're OK. You put those bars through a lot really, but personally I don't trust carbon bars, too high a risk of loosing my teeth 😂😂
Surprised the fork didn't rank higher, but still seems like a good option

Carbon bars are stiff and durable, but have three weaknesses:
Sharp impacts like that rock you landed on there
Micro cracks from over torqued stems and controls
Knock-offs which that one wasn't an original Race Face

  • @purplegarage05

One of the downsides of the cheaper suntour forks is that they have a factory set compression so better if you're an average or lighterweight rider. Definitely agree with the black stanchions looking great!

Guys you just keep bringing it with the HEAT at first I thought we had wolfdad on follow cam BUT WHAT A SURPRISE we got big sister Brandi and Kevin H on follow cam 🤯🤯🤯💪🏾💯 that's a video in its own but we got more people. I thought the Suntour fork would score a little higher then that, I have the 29er Suntour epixon on the Ardorx1 and that thing " soaks" up the smalls and bigs and I believe they are in the same price range. What breaks where you running you didn't seem to have confidence in them but that did stop you from sending it you was getting some air buddy 💪🏾 so dope just throwing that 29er around. Tick I watched that crash about 5 times and still don't know how you went down crazy how them bars snapped like that gald you was able to walk if off #wolfticknation that was incredible I can't wait to see the 2 wheel surprise gift big sister Brandi and Kevin H got for the #wolfticknation. Guys I'm just blown away by this community you have here and can't wait for the next one 💪🏾💯

Great review!! I have this fork waiting on one of my builds but I didn't have high expectations. I have the Axon which has a better and serviceable damper. I also have the 35mm Aion which has their PCS damper which is much better. So this looked like a nice bargain fork and you confirmed it was "ok". You also confirmed Carbon bars are not that great. Lol Glad you're ok😎

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS

This is why I will never use Carbon handle bars, sure they are light but they are not that strong and i have seen to many catastrophically fail at the wrong time and they are harder to fit to the bike as the bolt torque is very specific and to loose and they will move around but to tight even by a little bit and you risk cracking the bars that eventually break in the exact same place as they did in this video. For this reason i still use alloy bars as i have never seen them ever fail they might bend but never in away that sends you face first into rocks. Its unclear if they failed before the crash or after the crash but again that's another reason to stay with alloy because you can get back on the bike and coast down the trail with bent bars but you cant ride a bike with broken carbon bars

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  2 роки тому

I agree 100%. The Tick has made it back to the truck with bent bars several times. Just for clarification though, the bar broke after The Tick flew into them and may have given way enough to keep from breaking his ribs🤷‍♂️. Although I don't ride hard I will never trust carbon at any price point over aluminum or steel regardless what anyone says. Thanks man👍

I have the same bars. I'm 200lbs and I've beat on them with no issues. But let's be real here, they're not real raceface bars. I'm sure you're aware of that. Having said that, usually when a failure occurs right next to the stem like that it's a torque issue. In all honesty, do you torque then to 5nm religiously? If you do, maybe I SHOULD be concerned!
Love the videos. Keep it up!

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS

I've had some bmx bars break on me..not carbon either... can't imagine a longer skewer impaling me....on second thought...yeah.. I can! Haha!
I appreciate your willingness to test these parts and to pioneer the potential upgrades for my Ledge X1... (not that your doing it just for me) I'm not so self important...
Yeah...glad you're alright. Broken ribs aren't fun... I have a high threshold of pain...as well as a high tolerance for humor...(takes a lot to make me laugh)....anyways. I watched some stand up comedy while staying overnight with a broken rib due to Styrofoam (boogeyboard whoops while on vacation) could have died out in the water. Got pulled out with undertow while toddler daughter was playing in n sand while I'm pleading to Jesus not to leave my daughter with this terrible memory of how daddy had too much fun with something other than hanging out with her....anyways...forgot the joke this comedian told...while by myself rethinking my choices of how to spend time and literally....hurt so bad when this joke was so funny that I did laugh..and then cried....
That was 6 months prior to my back surgery...(also injured while on vacation) ...so now....vacations seem to hurt ....
I enjoy your videos! I can see that fork on the Ledge X1 just to mullet it out.

If you can score one, you should try the Suntour XCR 34 Air Boost. I believe it's adjustable (internally) from 120mm to 140mm I have one on my XC Voodoo 29er set at 130mm. I like it much better than the Raidon or the Epixon, and yes, I've ridden both. But everyone's preferences are different, It's just the fork I prefer in that range. I just think it'd be cool if you tested one...would love to hear your thoughts on it.

17:40 Have you thought about letting all air out and opening up the air chamber to put in spacers of some sort?, I know this fork does not have this feature, but maybe you can install something in there anyway? to get the small bump compliance while getting the support you need. Or is it a closed air chamber? if so you can't do that. But I think you sohuld be able to just take off the air assembly and install a spacer. I know Formula has sponge like spacers, so you could cut them to size or stack them, probably works in any suspension fork with an air assembly you can take off to open the air chamber. It's called Formula Neopos.

Hey guys. I just bought Manitou Markhor forks single crown qr for my specialized hardtail 29er. THEY SUCK. 29ER FRONT WHEEL 27.5 REAR WHEEL. I'M MOSTLY A DIRT JUMPER DOWNHILLER. Tire size 29 2.2 front 27.5 2.2. rear. Started off with a 29 2.4 front it seemed like when I was turning left the front wheel was turning right it had so Play bigger tire is for downhill 2.2 is for jumping also the rebound is very little the lockout doesn't exist. The lockout I use as compression. It seems to work. I don't really care about lockout but it works good for compression dampening so I'm able to mix the compression and the rebound together and I can kind of get the stiffness that I need I weigh 190 and I have 120 PSI in the forks. Dude and I paid 300 bucks for these things I'm about ready to throw them away I've had them for 2 weeks now. As soon as the cartridge blows they're in the trash. I should just probably buy a triple crown downhill forks from my hardtail. The only thing it sucks is when you're hauling ass down a steep hill the front ends all kush but your feet want to jump off the pedals it's kind of gnarly but I love it thanks guys

Coming over from BMX and looking into my first entry level HT going into 2023.
Seeing many entry level completes coming with RS Recon and a couple with the Raidon forks.
What would you guys suggest as being the better overall fork to roll with.
I'm about 6' and 250lbs at the moment. Hoping to shed the extra COVID weight by next year. Plan to just ride local trails thru the woods, and hit a few blue trails and such.
Don't care about the remote lockout, so just a one or the other fork type question. What would you guys recommend?

Hey brother, we do not recommend but.....If i were you 😉 I would look at a trave rc 34 from xfusion. Its a sick for but only 29er, and it's about $350ish but it feels that way! Now on a more budget lineup, the suntour epixons are very nice! There is one that is tapered and non and can be found for both 27.5 and 29ers....Depends on your bike though

I would rather be dead than have carbon on any critical area of my rig. End of! Not the frame, rims, crank arm, seat post and deffo not the handlebars. Where I ride in Shropshire, UK, I’ve seen one too many failures on the trail for my liking. For me, it’s alloy all the way on my e-mtb HT!

I guess the bar was fake. It could of course be faulty. But I saw a pro rider break a Renthal Carbon bar, but he probably rode at higher speed, he rode a downhill bike. I saw it In Ben Catho's vid don't remember the title.
I've crashed with Race Face SiXC35 carbon bars no several times. Now I have One Up Carbon bar in 35mm rise. I will see how it performs long term, the Burgtec Ride High 38 was way too harsh.
But comfort wise I can recommend Race Face Sixc35 and One UP Carbon, One up is stiffer horizontally, but flexes vertically, but both are comfortable. But I've not been able to test them against each other. But I think you can't go wrong with any of them comfort wise at least.
