Zombie Liu Kang is so badass idc what you say. a zombie shaolin monk utilizing chains as weapons and is immune to damage is too cool

No matter how many characters has died on Mortal Kombat,Liu Kang dead is still the most unexpected and saddest one.
Exactly he even won the Tournements in MK 1-4 and then died in 5's Opening..
He was resurrected by Dark Raiden when he reanimated him.
Zombie Liu Kang will always be my favorite MK fighter. I doubt they will ever bring him back as DLC but I hope so.

As a kid I skipped the intro and thought you had to unlock him. We unlocked all the characters and that’s when I realized he really did die in deadly alliance.
Back when games where fun
Not one of their best decisions to kill him off like that. But in the other hand i understand why Midway went with that direction. It's hard to keep the franchise alive if there's always a main protagonist who saves the day no matter how strong the main villain is.
The first time I saw them snap Liu Kings neck this shit scared me when I was a kid.

This is why I'm not happy with Mortal Kombat 11, Ermac has potential for good but they killed him off screen and didn't bring him back.
I mean, what did they even do with Ermac during the netherrealm era? He never won a fight (despite being made of warriors souls into a living weapon) and he does not really think.

Several of his endings in games show him being good, including here and MK 9. Then they kill him off screen in MK X to bring Shang Tsung back. He could be one of the stronger fighters but it's all dependent on who they decide to write as the winner.
Imagine playing this game for the first time and skipping the intro only to ask yourself why lui kang isn’t on the roster 😂
this was 6 year old me 😂😭 man I was shattered to discover how lui kang died. The whole time I thought Nitaras locked silhouette was gonna be Lui kang. The head band the long hair? Boy was I hurt and disappointed.

Also the fact that Liu was still stuck as a soul and was never able to reunite with his corpse and later on after the pyramid of Argus eruption Dark Raiden and Liu fought once again like their previous battles before them across different timelines and Raiden most definitely killed Zombie Liu

Could've fixed his neck whenever he wanted, but deliberately decided to wait until he caught up with the bastard that broke it to begin with, then snapped it back in a way that says "remember me?".

Deadly Alliance remain the only MK game where bad guy wins. Is like when Liu Kang die, all hope is lost

Armageddon ended in a dark manner where Shao Khan actually won and Raiden only "won" because he reset the universe, MK 2011 is not the same as Armageddon which means in that universe and game the bad guys won.
Speaking of MK 2011 the good guys really lost hard, 80% of their forces were slaughtered and converted to Shinnok's servants and their defenses were breached.

However NRS just simply retcon it for the sake of rebooting the franchise via MK9. They don't even explain how the hell Shao Kahn escape Onaga. Is just stupid. I don't even care about Armageddon plot anymore because of the reset timeline. For 2011, Raiden win against Shao Kahn. Doesn't matter how many good guys die in that game, at the end Raiden win, so good guys still win. For Deadly Alliance, they all lost and got killed. Nobody win against Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, not even Raiden. And at the climax, even Shang Tsung and Quan Chi got killed alongside Raiden when they desparately try to stop Onaga. That why I say Deadly Alliance plot is the only MK game where bad guy wins. They mop the floor all the good guys here.
@@shawziiz5031 yeah, that's the problem with creating a villain so powerful to the point where no one can defeat him, I mean ok if that's what they were aiming for but it must've left a sour taste in the mouth of fans if the franchise had ended like that, thankfully Mk9 rebooted the mess they did.

His apparent death was quite sad.
Deadly alliance was one of the best story lines. I loved the plot twist. And back in the day, the 3d arenas were legit.
Even though I grew up with Deadly Alliance/Deception/Armageddon (As well as the classic games)
I have to say that although the storylines were great in the 3D games, the gameplay SUCKED!!!
All those overly complicated combos and fatalities....PLUS, for me, fighting games should be either 2D like the classic games, OR 2.5D like Super Smash Bros. I hated the 3D arenas.....Deadly Alliance is my LEAST favorite main MK game......although Deception is one of my FAVORITE MK games (for some reason)
I remember when I first got a PS2 and this game in 2002, the graphics blew my mind, and so did seeing Liu Kang getting his neck snapped in the opening cinematic. I also found "Immortal" by Adema on the disk and I still listen to that band to this day. Did anyone else complete the Konquest mode and unlock Blaze and Mo-kap? This game is a classic.

It's weird to now know that when Quan chi was escaping the netherrealm he was at the time running from scorpion during that part in konquest where he was being chased by scorpion.

Not to mention but Quan chi was stuck in the 5th plane of the netherealm where his powers are weakened but scorpion was unaffected by it. Scorpion was on his ass.
Kang's death in deception was shocking but now become a troop of new timeline as he died several times.

My heart was broken when my bicycle kicking boy died. When I saw this man as a zombie with bloody chain hooks I was so excited. Not even upset anymore. One of the biggest comebacks ever.

I was kinda bummed to find out that Zombie Liu Kang was just a different skin and not a seperate character who actually used the chains. I really wanted to see him eat someones face off as a fatality. It would have also been cool if you can then unlock the original later.

@@Efri3nd Yes. Liu Kang's alternate kostume in Deception, Unchained (PSP port of Deception with some added stuff) and Armageddon is the good old Liu "I'm Still Alive" Kang. :D
He does do a Creepy Fatality in Mk Deception.

Technically Shujinko started armageddon by causing the resurrection of Onaga in Deception. During the konquest in deception Shujinko gives Blaze a memory potion to remember his mission thus causing armageddon. Poor guy tried to save everyone every inch of the way but ends up making things worse.
Technically before that. He Helps Scorpion Track Down Quan Chi which Cause Quan Chi and Moloch and Drahmin Protect Quan Chi and He Escapes Causing the Events of Mkda Intro to Happen( If Shujinko, Moloch and Drahmin weren't there Mkda Opening Never Happens).

the saddest part is with an introduction like this I was expecting zombie Kang to be more a significant force and one of the strongest if not the strongest fighter in the game with a revenge driven chaos and against all sides in the battle.

Meeting Zombie Liu Kang in Deception's Konquest mode was one of my favorite moments in Mortal Kombat. It's too bad it's not in the video.
Yeah The Original Time line Liu Kang has been through the ringer first he thought he lost his best friend in MK3 then he got tag teamed and killed then more then Likely watched his all of his friends all get killed by the deadly alliance and turned evil by Onaga then His mentor dies and then gets revived/corrupted and then Dark Raiden brought his corpse back to exact his rage and vengeance on people and then he had to watch his friends die AGAIN in the Battle of Armageddon and forced to go to heaven after Nightwolf got killed.

Me too, and they went with this multitimeline bullshit a lot of franquises do, and once they do that there is no going back, it gets too convoluded.
