Kinda unrelated to this list, but I can't believe it's almost been a year since watching your review of Night Swim. It's been a pleasure to watch your videos this past year. Have really grown to like your review style.
The ending of The Wailing is so worth it!!! Genuinely so terrifying and not in like the jump scare way but in the way where you end up feeling like evil lives among us
@@PossessedbyHorrorthe wailing is better on its last act. The beginning is sooooo slow I agree with you 100% I had to watch it twice cause I fell asleep the first time I watched it
I’m obsessed with hearing about your goal to watch every found footage movie! When I became obsessed with found footage films as a teenager I said I was going to do the same (seemed a lot more possible back then with the amount of them out though lol). It’s the genre that got me into horror so it’ll always be special to me
Hi sarah, ive used letterboxd for a couple of years now and im proud to say ive rated 100 movies that i watched this year.95percent i hadnt seen before , i love to discover movies and I watch movies from 1970s and beyond to this year. Also there are like 25 extra movies at least that ive seen that ive watched without subtitles ie 70s80s japanese movies.or other movies that i put on in the backround while im using my pc.
You are actually my comfort UA-camr. I love putting on your videos in the background when I am cleaning or crotcheting or doing homework. Let’s just say you got my through finals week haha.
Hearing that your daughter is obsessed with Finding Dory is so funny to me. I was a baby when Finding Nemo first came out, and according to my mother, it was the only movie that would get me to calm down.
You gotta finish The Wailing.. I get the issues you're having with it, but once you get to the end, the way everything comes together is just *chef's kiss.* There's a point in the story where the main character stops being a such a buffoon and becomes a very desperate man.. I wanna say more, but dont wanna spoil it. Just trust me on this, I think you will like it once you've seen the entire thing.
The wailing is definitely a slow burn & very atmospheric. I liked the movie forsure, I want to add it to my physical media collection but wouldn’t be quick to pick it up for a watch again. (If picking from other movies) HOWEVER if someone was dipping their toes into K-horror/J-horror I’d recommend it.
Finish The Wailing! Start over, dark and alone! Cold and raining would be the perfect ambiance too. It is SO good. I applaud you for starting The Uglies. 😆 it looks horrible. Little 14 yr old me would’ve been so excited.
My Top 6 older movies - First time watch: 1. Moon 2009 2. Mad Max Fury Road 3. Re-animator 4. Return of the Living Dead 5. Sunshine 2007 6. Better Watch Out
I watched The Wailing last night based on what others have said in these comments and it’s one of the best horrors I’ve ever seen. There is real sense of dread all the way through. You should give it another chance!
10:04 I know it’s older now but, speaking of space and sci-fi, have you seen the three body project? I mean I guess it’s a mini series rather than a movie but would love your review of it!!
Reason to finish the wailing: the last 30' is the most intense 30' i have ever encountered in any movies. It twisted me in the gut and it kept me thinking all night about WTF did happen
I just wanted to say how deeply I appreciate your content. Horror movies have been a huge part of my life, and your videos have introduced me to so many incredible films I might never have discovered on my own. Your passion for horror shines through every video, and watching them has become a comforting ritual for me-especially before bed. Your soothing voice has this amazing way of calming my anxiety, even when the topics are dark. Thank you for everything you do and for being such a light for horror fans like me. I truly hope 2025 is a kinder, brighter year for you. You deserve all the peace and happiness in the world, and I’ll always support you and your amazing work!
Least favorite from this year was The Grudge (2019). It was such a disservice to the originals, but I did rewatch the Ring (2002) because of you and I forgot how much I loved that movie, so thank you! Looking forward to your top 50 for this year
I'm on the edge of my seat for part 2, especially to see where my fav (paprika) lands on the rankings!! The worst movie I watched this year was probablyy The Gingerdead Man. But at the same time it's a great movie to watch with friends and laugh about.
I didn't watch a lot of movies in 2024 (hoping to do better in 2025, maybe I'll try to watch 100 new movies too!) but my least favourite movie was Longlegs. I appreciated the visuals and the concept but I hate where they took the ending so much and thought they could have done a lot more with Longlegs' character.
I had to turn off VHS beyond I watched it when I was really high and it was just overwhelming. I plan to finish it when I'm not as baked it was really interesting.
I remember one time back in the day, I went to see the first Hostel in the theater by myself, just BAKED af. While the story was progressing, I remember thinking to myself, "I might have made a mistake, I might have made a mistake...". But as it went on, I kinda settled into my comfort zone and ended up really enjoying the experience. 😝
Hi! Every so often you mention books that you read and I was wondering if you have a Goodreads account? I would love to follow what you are reading as well as what you are watching! 😊
I'm glad to see someone else enjoyed who Apartment 7A. I know it doesn't really add anything to the story that we couldn't already figure out, but it instantly become a comfort film for me. I loved the actors and the setting, and the dreamy sequences. I found it to be a surprise little gem and I'm glad I gave it a go. 😊
i've seen around 250 movies this year, so would be hard to rank them lol. So i'll just share my favorites from each month: The Killing of a Sacred Deer (January) Enemy; To Die For (February) Mad Max 2; Mad Max: Fury Road (March) It Follows; Locke; Game Night (April) Dune: Part Two; Natural Born Killers; Under The Skin (May) Dressed To Kill; Candyman (June) Sunset Boulevard; Ratatouille; Funny Games; Coherence (July) Sexy Beast; Train To Busan; Team America: World Police (August) X-Men: Days of Future Past; Furiosa (September) Alien; Aliens; Scream; Carrie (October) The Substance; Predator; Late Night With The Devil (November) Citizen Kane; Timecrimes; Fantastic Planet (December)
Oh my god I LOVE lair of the white worm!! I totally get why you would DNF it, I knew a bit before watching from one of my favourite movie podcasts so I was prepared and I think that helped 😂
Gasped when I saw the Gentlemen on your list… it’s in my top 5 all time favorite films😭😭😭 Your opinion is still valid even though you broke my heart a little bit😂😂
I loved The Wailing because it kept me trying to figure out where the hell they were going with it the whole time. Also, In A Violent Nature is my # 2 movie of the year. My heart is hurting (currently on # 77 in the video, but already been wounded twice haha).
I'm with you on Joker 2; I didn't mind it. I'm hoping to hit 200 new-to-me movies by the end of the year, but so far my least favorites are Maria, One True Loves, Snow Falls, Lovely Dark and Deep, Mother of the Bride, Miller's Girl, Argyle, and Daddio.
While it seems like a hot take for it to be ranked that low, I get it. I saw it in the theater when it came out and I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. It's grown on me over time, but it's definitely not a favorite.
pretty surprised about the wailing! i get how it can be a little boring but trust that the journey is so worth it! its somewhat of a demon/exorcism movie so i feel like you would like it. its so different.
Man idk how this is making me feel about watching 290 movies this year alone that I'd never seen. I have no life apparently lol Favorite of the year in horror for me is The Substance. Favorite non-horror: Thelma.
Lair of the white worm is a weird one but I like it for that reason 😬 It's from a novel by Bram Stoker if I recall correctly.. Have a lovely Christmas! 🎅🧟🧛
I get it with DNFs-especially The Wailing. I love that movie, but I have tried to watch Citizen Kane 4 times. This is a movie that is loves by everyone! I couldn't get through it.
When I watched The Wailing for the first time I literally as soon as it ended, went online and bought it on blu-ray. Yes slow burn but good slow burn with awesome pay off.
I actually really enjoyed Tarot! I don’t know how to explain it but It’s the type of movie that would have been a top fav if I’d seen it in high school. I’ve just seen so many movie in the 20 years since that it was completely predictable. I really hope there are some newer to the genre folks who loved it!
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve tried to watch the wailing because everyone always says how good it is and I just can’t. I love slow burns, but for some reason I just can’t get into this movie.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. The exorcist: believer. Trap didn't even finish that one and don't really plan to. I think that's it lol. Great video! 😁 i love your content
I think i watch too many movies... Also about the wailing, if there's one slow burn movie that made me think it was worth the wait after finishing it, it was that one. But that can be a personal feeling
I actually have a goal of watching 100 previously unseen horror movies next year. 🖤 More watches overall (goal maybe 300..?), but 100 unseen horrors. :)
I watched Birdemic because I was making a zine about birds on film and…. wow. Like I knew it was going to be bad but I saw things on screen that I really didn’t think could be that terrible 😂
I haven't seen Spaceman, nor have I read the book. But I do know that it is based on a book called The Spaceman of Bohemia, which came out in 2017. Project Hail Mary came out in 2021, so if the stories are the same and if the movie follows the plot of the book, then technically Spaceman came first.
My bottom rated movies this year were - FearDotCom - Shake, Rattle and Roll Extreme - Spiral: from the book of Saw - Blink Twice (hot take, apparently) Also please continue The Wailing!! I wouldn’t even say it’s necessarily one of my favourites but I do feel that by the end it’s such a good journey and there’s a lot to appreciate and chew on.
Can't wait for your review of The Wailing once you finally finish it. I saw it a few years ago and thought it was kind of *meh.* I'm always surprised by how many people absolutely love it.
Can't wait for part 2! :)) The worst movie I saw this year was Found (2012) low budget indie horror ( i guess) It felt like it was made by an edgy teenager.
I love The Wailing because it is a possession film from the perspective of an entirely foreign culture! Horror, for me, is at its most interesting when it tells me about another culture's fears, practices, values, etc. And it effortlessly breathes new life into a genre that is so chock-full of Catholic/Judeo-Christian possession flicks. I would kill for an annotated copy of this film with cultural and historical notes. I felt the same way about 2021's The Medium (inspired by The Wailing) and Impetigore.
I may have to steal your Letterboxd wrapped idea 🤭 I will give you credit if I do, but I'm intrigued to see what my stats are now. The worst films I've seen this year are: The Sleep Experiment, The Grudge (2020), and Blair Witch
Ouuu the wailing should be in one sitting it gets really fast in the second half and is worthwhile. its building the twists and turns. really have to finish it the ending is on of the best horror movie endings of all time, it puts you in the shoes of the charcter where there’s a decsion to make that can’t be reversed and you as the auidnece could choose wrong. its haunting and devastated me. first half is to get the details you;re not prepared
I finished The Wailing and still didn’t like it. Though that could just be because I was so bored and checked out emotionally lol. I’m sure it’s good if you’re in the right headspace, and because everyone else seems to love it, I’m just glad to hear someone else was as bored in the beginning as I was. I might try it again because it’s been a couple of years for me. 💕
Least favorite 2024 films Moana 2- honestly, I took my kids and just did not care about the story at all. It had a lot more potential, and Lin Manuel Miranda's music was greatly missed. A Quiet Place: Day One: well acted, didn't hate it, but it just doesn't live up to the other A Quiet Place films PROBABLY Red One: This was my boyfriend's pick and outside of my wheelhouse of what I enjoy in a movie. It was fun enough, and I was entertained. It's doesn't live up to the potential of a holiday classic for me. It's not a movie that I'm going to want to watch every year for Christmas.

Okay I’ll keep going!!
@@PossessedbyHorrorthe wailing is better on its last act. The beginning is sooooo slow I agree with you 100% I had to watch it twice cause I fell asleep the first time I watched it
The Wailing has one of the best and creepiest depictions of a demon I’ve ever seen. Absolutely love that movie.
Thank-you for all your effort putting this list together. Very enjoyable.
The wailing one hurts. It’s my favorite horror film. The ending/reveal is soooo good
The wailing is an incredible film
The wailing was good
Agree, I also found it incredibly scary
True😢 I love The Wailing, so so much 😊😊😊 One of my fav horror movies ❤
Funny you say that because the ending ruined it for me.
I’m obsessed with hearing about your goal to watch every found footage movie! I love this idea! Watching a 100 new movies is a great goal; I am going to steal it for 2025 😉
Please do this every year!
4:16. Brooooo. I thought I was the ONLY person in the world to rate a movie wit a “DNF”. Hell yeah. That’s why I love this channel💙

What are those Japanese movies please? 😊
Ive been trying to get thru the first 30mins of The Wailing for 4yrs now. Totally feeling ya there! 😅
I was also so surprised how much I loved apartment 7a!
I'm excited for part two of this video 😁
you tried watching the The Wailing Four times!!!! ok you are now my favourite horror youtuber. Ive tried to watch it twice and gave up!

Cant wait for part 2 and the horror listing!
Predator is a classic, at least for me. I still remember seeing it as a kid and absolutely loving it. I still love it!
My Top 6 older movies - First time watch:
1. Moon 2009
2. Mad Max Fury Road
3. Re-animator
4. Return of the Living Dead
5. Sunshine 2007
6. Better Watch Out
Omg those are all amazing!! You watched some good ones this year.
Moon 2009 was fantastic. I need to rewatch that one. I remember being mindblown by the reveal at the time.
I love this! As an avid movie watching I’m going to do this in 2025!
I watched The Wailing last night based on what others have said in these comments and it’s one of the best horrors I’ve ever seen. There is real sense of dread all the way through. You should give it another chance!
I definitely will!
Thank you for mentioning Exhuma! I loved it so much!! 🖤
@anuja9729 I've been considering watching this... is it actually scary?
Exhuma was one of my favorite movies this year! The way it just keeps going past what you think the actual plot is. Ugh so good!
@Megs1921 Thanks! I'll def check it out then :)
@mollyt1296 yes yes! 💯

I saw Lair of the White Worm on tv some time around 1990, remember it being reasonably entertaining!

The idea of watching 100 new movies in a year is great, might sound crazy but mine is to watch at least 365 Horror movies a year. (currently at 396)
I'm on the edge of my seat for part 2, especially to see where my fav (paprika) lands on the rankings!! The worst movie I watched this year was probablyy The Gingerdead Man. But at the same time it's a great movie to watch with friends and laugh about.
Troll Hunter is a great found footage movie. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did!
I Love these long horror lists! Thanks for the fun
My partner and I watched the wailing last Saturday and we loved it. Watched a whole explanation video and everything
Love the Adam Cesare - Clown In A Cornfield Shout out! Great books.
I didn't watch a lot of movies in 2024 (hoping to do better in 2025, maybe I'll try to watch 100 new movies too!) but my least favourite movie was Longlegs. Hi! Every so often you mention books that you read and I was wondering if you have a Goodreads account? I would love to follow what you are reading as well as what you are watching! 😊
Yes I do! I think you can just look me up by “Sarah Hawkinson” 🤗
I was also very entertained/surprised by Troll Hunter.
Troll hunter is so good! And that scene in the cave is quite scary!
Assassination nation sounds right up my alley so definitely adding that (and daddy's head) to my watchlist
Come to think of it, I had the exact same issue with the Wailing, but Holy sh*t! That 4th time blew me away! I love that movie!
I love that you included Predator and Finding Dory. They're not necessarily horror, but they're entertaining 🙂
i've seen around 250 movies this year, so would be hard to rank them lol. So i'll just share my favorites from each month:
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (January)
Enemy; To Die For (February)
Mad Max 2; Mad Max: Fury Road (March)
It Follows; Locke; Game Night (April)
Dune: Part Two; Natural Born Killers; Under The Skin (May)
Dressed To Kill; Candyman (June)
Sunset Boulevard; Ratatouille; Funny Games; Coherence (July)
Sexy Beast; Train To Busan; Team America: World Police (August)
X-Men: Days of Future Past; Furiosa (September)
Alien; Aliens; Scream; Carrie (October)
The Substance; Predator; Late Night With The Devil (November)
Citizen Kane; Timecrimes; Fantastic Planet (December)
Oh my god I LOVE lair of the white worm!! I totally get why you would DNF it, I knew a bit before watching from one of my favourite movie podcasts so I was prepared and I think that helped 😂
Thanks for the idea of watching every found footage! I too am a found found footage junkie no matter how bad it may be
For your list of found footage movies, Curse of Aurore is one you may not have heard of.
You need to do a video of Fern’s favorite movies 😂😂😂😂
Oh man where do I start lol. At least her favorite right now is Coraline 😅
@ great choice! Possessed by Horror audience approved 🤩
I was really shocked by Spaceman, in a good way! By the end I was balling and in my feels 😭
The wailing is so goood definitely in my top 10 list 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Lol its funny u mention it, i only saw "The way of the Gun" like last year and yes, it is very good.
Can you share your found footage list to watch next year so we can watch too?
i agree with the strangers it was so bad😭i loved your rant video on remakes
Gasped when I saw the Gentlemen on your list… it’s in my top 5 all time favorite films😭😭😭
Your opinion is still valid even though you broke my heart a little bit😂😂
I mean it’s well done and everything just not my kind of story 😅
I loved The Wailing because it kept me trying to figure out where the hell they were going with it the whole time. Also, In A Violent Nature is my # 2 movie of the year. My heart is hurting (currently on # 77 in the video, but already been wounded twice haha).
I'm with you on Joker 2; I didn't mind it. I'm hoping to hit 200 new-to-me movies by the end of the year, but so far my least favorites are Maria, One True Loves, Snow Falls, Lovely Dark and Deep, Mother of the Bride, Miller's Girl, Argyle, and Daddio.
Predator that low is wild to me.
It's like the greatest action movie of all time.
While it seems like a hot take for it to be ranked that low, I get it. I saw it in the theater when it came out and I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. It's grown on me over time, but it's definitely not a favorite.

Kudos, Sarah!
Talking about finding dory on a horror channel shows what kind of parent you are and that’s a win IMO
Joker 2 needs to be given the NES E.T. treatment
For some reason, I find the absolute hatred of Afraid to be highly entertaining.
Finish watching The wailing...it's sooo good ❤ from Australia 🇦🇺
I kind of love finding Dory! I think she’s the loveliest character and it always makes me cry for some reason🥲
It made me cry too 🥺
Hey 👋 Sarah (. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁🎠🎄🌈🧸🎅🏻🤶🏾👼🏻👼🏿☃️🧚🏻🎼🌹🧝🏿❄️🕊️❤️💚
When I watched The Wailing for the first time I literally as soon as it ended, went online and bought it on blu-ray. Yes slow burn but good slow burn with awesome pay off.

I loved the front room 😈😈😈
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve tried to watch the wailing because everyone always says how good it is and I just can’t. I love slow burns, but for some reason I just can’t get into this movie.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. The exorcist: believer. Trap didn't even finish that one and don't really plan to. I think that's it lol. Great video! 😁 i love your content
The mouse trap was hands down the worst film I’ve watched this year and honestly one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen
😂😂 foe real. It's on some app I didn't even know was on my smart TV when I looked it up
I think i watch too many movies... Also about the wailing, if there's one slow burn movie that made me think it was worth the wait after finishing it, it was that one. But that can be a personal feeling
i totally forgot about assassination nation such a campy movie
Ive Loved Pedator since I was a kid 😂 I had a thing about Arnold back then!
Hahahahah I had. to laugh so bad that you gave Afraid 0.5 stars hahahahahah love it
I actually have a goal of watching 100 previously unseen horror movies next year. 🖤 More watches overall (goal maybe 300..?), but 100 unseen horrors. :)

I love when you say “boring” “terrible” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same😆
My bottom rated movies this year were
- FearDotCom
- Shake, Rattle and Roll Extreme
- Spiral: from the book of Saw
- Blink Twice (hot take, apparently)
Also please continue The Wailing!! I wouldn’t even say it’s necessarily one of my favourites but I do feel that by the end it’s such a good journey and there’s a lot to appreciate and chew on.
i tell everyone to watch Exists. I really enjoy it
Can't wait for your review of The Wailing once you finally finish it. I saw it a few years ago and thought it was kind of *meh.* I'm always surprised by how many people absolutely love it.

As a Norwegian, Troll hunter is amazing, but you kind of need to know the fairytales about the trolls for it to be a bit more funnier, but it is good.
Keep going on the Wailing I loved it, but it was a slower build so I understand.
👏👏👏👏👏yeah!!! More you!!😊
my least favorites i’ve watched this year are strangers: prey of night, trap, stop motion, time cut, and abandoned
Least favorite 2024 films
Moana 2- honestly, I took my kids and just did not care about the story at all. It had a lot more potential, and Lin Manuel Miranda's music was greatly missed.
A Quiet Place: Day One: well acted, didn't hate it, but it just doesn't live up to the other A Quiet Place films
PROBABLY Red One: This was my boyfriend's pick and outside of my wheelhouse of what I enjoy in a movie. It was fun enough, and I was entertained. It's doesn't live up to the potential of a holiday classic for me. It's not a movie that I'm going to want to watch every year for Christmas.
i also gave horseman 3! but i watched it a couple years ago. the ending was not as grand as i thought it would be
