This is the plan I roughly tied to execute on Cattaraugus Creek in Western New York State. Hoping to try again with a bit more clarity in what I'm doing. Thank you for the video.
Loves y’all fly shop! Stopped by a few weeks ago on a portcall and everything was amazing! Can’t forget about giving a shout out the man of shop, STORM!
just starting out with a switch rod. the info i got on that setup was go one higher on the reel than your rod. ex; I have an 8wt echo switch rod with a 9/10 greys fly reel. they say this will balance the system better. in my opinion this setup casts beautifully and thats coming from someone who has little to no knowledge of casting. my instructor did though and it was truly impressive,
Outstanding video! More UA-cam videos on fishing should utilize the diagram you provided at the 16-minute and 10-second mark. It is invaluable when putting it all together and summarizing the information in any fishing video. Great work!
Could you recommend a few medium fast action rods and large arbor reel combos (that we could buy from the shop) to check out? I would love a dedicated steelhead/Great Lakes migratory indicator setup.
Our favorite is the Echo ION XL. We even offer an outfit featuring this rod and our favorite line for this style of fishing (Scientific Anglers Anadro).
So many great rods on the market... Nymphing for Steelhead it's tough to find a better deal than the ECHO ION XL. Lots of 8wt rods out there on the market are designed for distance casting and too fast/stiff for roll casting.

We filmed it but had some audio issues… hoping to get an on-the-water episode out ASAP!
Great information in this video. What’s your personal favorite rod that you use?
