Greys’ entry-level rod series, GR60 rods, are lightweight and versatile to accommodate a variety of casting strokes, fishing techniques, and angler preferences. These are great rods for anglers just getting into the sport of fly fishing and offer fine performance at a price-point that’s tough to beat. Greys makes these rods from a 3wt all the way through to an 8wt rod and in single-handed and switch rod models.

The greys gr60 really punches well above its price range.....just pretty darn good at everything.....Was blown away for the price
Torreón I believe is the type of carbon matrix mix that Greys use ( at least that’s the guff they tell us here in the uk ) hope this helps cheers best wishes from dear old Scotland
Exactly. Like Redington used to advertise "Toray" back in the day when Toray was a company providing Redington certain materials back in the day. I believe the company (Redington or Greys) is advertising this because they have a perception this is an upscale material for this item.
IDK, seems the "cool factor" rating is a way to artificially skew the scores in order to justify higher priced spending. Sage gets 10. Greys gets 5. IMO, reviews should be based on quality and performance only.
Had a GR 60 10' # 7 which I used in tighter streams for Trout and Salmon here in Denmark. I can't praise this rod enough. I have owned rods 4 time the price; Sage, Hardy Etc. Gr 60 10/7 is a Fast rod, which do wonders, with short Giuideline ULS+ heads 16 gram. I sold the Rod and bought more expensive, just to try it and regretting. I'm now trying a GR80 10/7 for this season. I consider to buy a swift rod GR 11.1 /8 from Greys as well (for wider rivers). Just so much better than many aggresive promoted and expensive brands.
The GR60 is a fantastic rod at any price point. We are glad to have Greys back in the states.
Jeg har lige købt den i #8 10' da jeg vil prøve laksefiskeri i år😀
Same story here, Sold the Hardy Zephyrus and kept the Gr60👍🏻
Ben, the way you describe the performance of this rod, it sounds super similar to how you would describe the performance of the Aetos. To me, the GR60 is a wee bit crisper and wee bit more powerful than the Aetos. Both of these rod models are great all-around/versatile rods.
Thanks for putting together these great videos!
Come on Ben, what line were you using?
Good Rod 👍🏼
From angler Indonesia 🔥
Greys did a great job with both the GR60 and GR80. We're happy to see Greys is back and producing awesome rods!
Thank you Ben , nice rod , beautiful price .
One of the best values out there
i haven't but will look for it.
So you decided to do a review and not bother reviewing what toreon was
Thanks for the review...I have a good deal on the GR60..$160.....is it worth the jump to the GR80 overall? Im novice-intermediate streams to rivers 8" to 20" trout.... Or is Aetos best bet? In hand the Greys looked better. Dont want a rod that wont go the distance in larger river holes or with larger trout...or would get the Shadow. Any advice? Budget $400 or less....
Hi Armen, the GR80 is going to be faster and have more power than the GR60. Both are great options but I would go with the 80 for an all-purpose 5wt.
@@Tridentflyfishing Well Im impatient and got the GR60 lol..and it is considerably faster than what I had...prob making it a great step up into more progressive action. Do these rods (9" #5) like heavier line in the Rio Gold Elite or just keep it at 5? Thanks much....
Is this GR60 okay for saltwater?
I wouldn't recommend it.
Great rod for a newcomer or kids just starting out. Who would pay $800+ for a newcomer to the sport.
i wish i could double haul as easily as you do.
Practice! Have you watched our double haul tutorial?
Greetings.
What line is used on the gr60 in the above video?
Thanks in Advance!
We used the Rio Gold in the video. The GR60 would also pair well with a lighter line such as the SA Amplitude Trout or Rio Technical Trout.
Do your research on the rod before you give it a review ..
The cork quality really bad
For the price, it's fine
How can u say the cork fine
When u see it in the video u look shocked really bad cork I have old
Rods 20 years old with better cork
Handles
What a piss poor presentation
You have no idea
