- Millions of years ago huge forces ripped apart the Earth's crust creating seven spectacular continents. Over time, each continent developed its own remarkable wildlife, full of dinosaurs.
66 million years ago, these continents included Antarctica which was still connected to what is today Australia, forming the last fragment of the former super-continent Gondwana. India was also once a part of Gondwana but was now fully isolated and heading north. Just as today Asia, Europe, North America and South America were fully established continents, but they had yet to aquire their modern conturs. Large parts of the lower continental shelfs were flooded by the high sea levels that followed the warm temperatures of the latest cretaceous period. From time to time certain continents like North America and Asia would also reconnect through temporary land bridges, which in turn allowed animals to migrate and expand into new habitats. But once these connections reclosed populations became seperated and evolved in their own unique evolutionary paths, creating an almost endless diversity of Dinosaurs; many of which we will never uncover or understand. The deep past is shrouded in mystery.

this is what we need for a season 3, to explore the rest of the globe in some special places we've been to and ones we haven't, and to see some of the strangest, the largest, and some of the most unexpected of creatures to have ever lived on our planet, we need to return for one last time, to a time where nature had put on it's greatest show. we need Prehistoric Planet 3.

They have the five continents.
Although that would leave out the popular NA species, and I know they’d hesitate with that.
I was thinking the same. However, I think Antarctica+Australia has a bit of a weak fossil record at this particular time. I guess they could throw in North America again if, god forbid, they do an extinction finale.
@@PaleoEdits, Which, of course, is unlikely to happen, because they don't wanna shock and disappoint fans and viewers with extinction events, with something as beautifully-made as Prehistoric Planet.

Poor Australia gets excluded as usual, but it's completely understandable! We haven't found any Maastrichtian dinosaurs yet in Australia.

yes, this is a rather nice fan-made trailer, however, it is Ironic that they missed out Australia, because during the Maastrictian, there are few or no Dinosaurs to be found here.
Indeed. But then Australia and Antarctica were still connected from what I've read, so one might as well consider them as one at this time. I don't think calling it Gondwana is appropiate either, seeing as it refers to a wider paleo continent.

Interesting to speculate what kind of Dinosaurs, pterosaurs and marine reptiles lived there.
