Wagner said that Weber was a great influence on him,he enabled Wagner to see the direction he should be taking with his music.
BTW Weber was Constanze Mozart's first cousin, small world.

+ A Paradox !! Wow! Thank you for sharing that. I check it out and that is true! Weber being Constanze Mozart's first cousin is knowledge I appreciate. Weber has been my "favorite" composer primarily as a band director. Weber's music for Horn, Clarinet, Bassoon, etc. are masterpieces for those instruments. His Concertino for Horn is incredible. All those Clarinet pieces, such great teaching aids for good students. (and they are fun to play).
A player needs to master the instrument; these make you feel you have if you play them well.

Glad you pointed that out. Within a few seconds of listening, I was wondering if he influenced Wagner. I'm not a musician and don't know musical theory, so it must be apparent from just listening. Being related to Mozart's wife did not surprise me, though I hadn't known it. I could be wrong, but reading history of 18-19th century musicians, it seems that such a relationship wasn't unusual, as it isn't unusual for modern-day athletes to marry one another or be related. I don't know if it is as true for musicians today.

Just to add that I don't think Weber actually knew Mozart personally:~
      Weber was born in 1786,
      Mozart died in 1791.
However,he might have known his cousin Constanze (Mozart's wife) she didn't die until 1842.

Just by curiosity, didn't you and Wolfgang ever have unpleasant brushes or let's say, moments of egos clashing and probably even heated discussions where insults are traded liberally? Did you ever have moments and think that your skills were and always had been superior to Wolfgang's?

his work does not sound like it.

and would have some class of whatsoever.
this is just amateuristic blabber, that does belong in the lake.
