      Thank you so much - and thanks for watching and commenting, yes, this issue that I had has now totally disappeared, and we are enjoying the Land Rover again. It’s wet season here, and there will be a few trips to the watering fields in the next coming days to go hunting, hopefully it will be with no problems at all now. 👍👍
      Drive safely
      Best regards
      Rene.

    A good idea is to seal the unit with sikoflex .

    • @techtips101
      @techtips101  Рік тому +1

      Yes that is a good idea 👍👍 I will do that next time I get them both out (TCM and ECM), it is soft enough to disassemble it again without damaging the unit too 👍👍
      great idea 👍

      @@techtips101 yes, you can get it apart again, you could always warm it up with a hair drier or similar. We all do this fix in Africa to save our ECUs etc.

      @@overlandi5056 very good idea, can inform you the Land Rover survived the hurricane Ian, but was extremely flooded - but hat a few Po codes and now running flawless again :D

    Mine doesn’t have that ground screw as well inside the ECM as well. I wonder if it actually doesn’t come with one?

    I'm sure it's battery acid on the plastic bit in between the tcm and ecm

    • @techtips101
      @techtips101  Рік тому

      Could be - however the Land Rover is build with such poor plastic quality that the fairings below the windows dry rot over the years in hot sun - this causes a leak running straight down onto the module creating the issue I had. Of battery acid would do the same, to a certain extend, but I haven’t had any leaks there, so in my case it was excluded quickly.
      Thanks for commenting and watching though, and the Mandy has been running great since.
      Drive safely, best regards Rene

      That's good she's running well. Mine still giving me shit ive pulled and checked every fuse in the engine bay fuse box and behind the glove box. Checked every earth point I could see, unplugged every wiring harness plug checked and cleaned and electrical lube on everything, Just got the clocks/instrument cluster bk from being repaired it needed to be fixed as I had a light on all the time. I'll put the clocks bk in tomorrow if i still have no joy, gona do the cambus test through the obd port and go from there

      @@liamdtraxxas2011 what is the exact problem ? The LR3 does so many weird things for small problems too, and many times it seems so simple but yet so distant to solve.

    Could the ECU affect the clutch fan? I've put in two different clutch fans and both are spinning at engine speed. The only code is fan circuit.

      Thanks for watching, I am a little unsure if it would, but I would NOT be surprised at all since it has a feeler in almost any circuit associated with the engine.
      hope that helps Best regards Rene

    What's the module under the glove box in a 2007 land Rover lr3 hse?

      Thanks for watching and commenting :)
      It is the Body control module (BCU) always check the connectors on this module since if it has been exposed to water leakage, the connectors can corrode and it will normally be visible, as green residue on the connector in the plug.
      A new BCU is in the neighbourhood of 115usd - 150usd as we speak.

    My lr3 ecu got water in it as well, pulled it out and actually poured about a cup of water out of it, dried it out inside and still won't function or communicate with my scan tool, I assume it has failed at this point, do you know what cheap software would be capable of coding a used box? Or am I stuck with the dealer or a 2,000 dollar land rover specific scan tool? Thanks

    • @techtips101
      @techtips101  Рік тому +1

      Oh that is a tough one - how about getting one from a used car - doner car from a scrap yard or eBay maybe. - the electronic chip inside do not like the water and that’s why it’s most likely dead. Make sure you make the new one water resistant so you don’t run into the same problem later.
      Sorry if I wasn’t of much help, but that’s a weak area of the car in this corner. Make sure you check up on the TCM module as well, most likely this has gotten water too.
      Drive safely, best regards Rene

      this could very easily be a sign of water penetration, corrosion or no ground connection. Have a look at my comment above e that might close you in on the target and failure.
      best regards
