      Thanks for sharing. Try using less volume and force and make sure you jaw is open comfortably, like if you say the word "ugh". I hope that helps!

    I also believe singers are made, not born. Everyone always says I am so talented, they can't sing, I'm lucky, etc. They don't seem to realise how much work I do and have done. For years.

      Thanks for sharing. If it is irritating your throat, try doing it more gently with less volume.

    after practicing, do you need to do the hums for the growl or is there a way to sing and go into the growl note? thanks! :)

      Once you get the hang of it, you should be able to add it in spontaneously. Make sure to open your jaw as in an "ugh" and don't use the technique without force.

    How should it feel when you do a vocal growl? Obviously it shouldn’t hurt, but should you feel something?

      Hi Amelia, thanks for your question. You should feel a kind of like a “light” clearing of your throat. You don’t want it hurt or feel strained. If it does, it means that you are using too much force and you want to practice with a lower volume and and less aggression on the growl. Hope that helps!😀🎤

    Any suggestions for helping me get more note in the growl? I feel like I'm just doing something like: * short growl * * clear note *

      @@audrilove_ thanks for your question. Start by doing it with an easy volume and a good low breath, then each time try extending your growl length. Hope that helps.😃🎤

    Im trying to sing LION by elevation worship for an audition thing and Im adding a growl on a couple notes and so far im getting it but i needed to make sure it wasnt just gravelly. So thank you!

      Thanks for your question. It is more challenging because the vocal folds can take more weight/[pressure making the growl easier on lower pitches. I would suggest starting to move up the pitch very slowly with a lower volume and not forcing it. Please keep me posted!

      @@diekartoffelderweisheit5106 Thanks for your question. It's going to be hard with your larynx in a high position so I recommend lowering it with more of an "ugh" feeling. Are you trying to apply this in your lower, mid or higher register?

      @@alireid1684 the “mmm” helps you to gently rub the vocal folds together to get the feeling of the transition into the growl. You don’t have to do that first, I’ve just found it to help some singers before the growl. Hope that helps!

      Thanks for your sharing. It can be challenging to get the growl at first. If the mmm doesn't help you, just try to do the growl gently and see how that goes.

      @@bumbledee3346 Thanks for your comment. Play around with it. Watch your volume and make sure to not force it. Also, the vocal growl isn’t really a “pretty” sound to begin with, it’s just to add that earthy, gritty sound. Hope that helps.😊🎤

    I've heard this vocal style to many singers, but my ultimate crush,, Dua Lipa does this vocal growl thing naturally with conviction❤🎼🎤🌹🌻 everytime she sings, on some of her songs, Dua knows when to put too much emotion on her songs and that"s the time you'll hear her growling when singing, I can't even wait for DL3❤❤
