I do want to add, I’ve seen your MBT discussions and I have to say, you really have to push through and into the advanced game for this one to just come alive. I made several attempts using the basic game rules, and it just wasn’t clicking. Once I switched over to the advanced rules, and there are suddenly so many more factors, like variable penetration rates, different armor ratings depending on angle and armor strength, it just blew my mind. It creates a situation where you’re working really hard to get into advantageous cover while out maneuvering your opponent to take a close range shot at a low-armored back panel. And seeing that insta-kill brew up, leaving his hulking, smoking wreck on the board, is oh so satisfying!
Absolutely want to see this played. What I don't really like is the way the overlay tiles extend beyond the hex sides so you can't put them directly next to each other. But I'm sure I can live with it.
An amazing game. I need to learn solo rules and play an awful lot more. Amazed I managed to get everything back in the box including trays. Defo need to bring this to the channel, really nice to see you gentlemen going head to head. Many thanks.
Those turret counters are not for being blown off, but rather dtk show turret facing which can be different from ffn facing of the main weapon and turret mounted ma hine guns
There are two Optional rules I suggest you use. First is 7.8 Turrets. Second is 7.42 Staggered Initiative. Turrets rule gives the more realistic treatment of a turret facing in a different direction than the hull as well as the tradeoffs of being buttoned or unbuttoned. Staggered Initiative helps fix the issue with whoever gets the initiative gets to fire all of their units first.
Looks very cool. I'd love to see how the solo rules work. If you get the solo rules down and are having lots of fun it might make it easier to get Alexander on board.
I’m a big fan of your channel and a big fan of the Panzer system. It is much like MBT which you have already played but you will notice the vehicles are a little slower and the weapons are shorter range. The game really goes nicely with advanced rules. I’m not into the optional rules though… just a personal preference. Panzer is a little easier to learn than MBT as the weapons are a bit more straightforward.
Basic rules are really the game with training wheels. You need to move beyond it. And you need to accept that tactical combat is deadly and often very much in the realm of luck. Also, don't underestimate the role of mobility in winning scenarios. It isn't always about going toe to toe. It's sometimes about simply about avoiding and outrunning the enemy.
I’d like to see you get this one to the table. It was my introduction to the Panzer system, and I quickly fell in love with it and bought MBT as well (which I also enjoy, but maybe wouldn’t have if it had been my first Panzer-type game since it has additional rules for modern equipment, making it even a heavier lift). I’ll say that at first I only played the standard rules for a few turns before I realized the standard version of combat was too deterministic and boring, so I just added the advanced armor direct fire rules and the optional rule on variable penetration, and that made a world of difference. I’ve even gotten a friend started on it (via Vassal) who has no experience at all with tactical ground combat games, including those two added rules right away on his first session, and he’s enjoying it; we’re playing it again next week and adding a few more of the Advanced rules, which can and probably should be added in an “a la carte” fashion rather than all at once IMO.
I'd like to see it played. I've always been interested in the series, but I have so many [unplayed] games, that I've decided that, if I want to play a platoon-level game, I can stick with Panzerblitz and Panzer Leader. Maybe seeing it played would change my mind.
Basic game is to familiarize yourself with the pieces, the Advaced version is where this systen shines! You have to play it a d its not a few pages of Advanced rules, its about 35.......but yiou can pick and choose the rules you want uss. Love to see ya both taccmle this baby!

That looks awfully like Squad Leader, which is a good game once you've a grip of the rules but its a crazy amount of work to get up to speed and its exhausting to play. Looks nice though.
I would clarify to say it’s really not comparable to SL. Starting with the basic game rules makes it really digestible before you start adding advanced and optional game rules. I find it plays very easily and is intuitive.

I have taught about 40-50 people how to play Panzer and MBT and not one person hasn't enjoyed it.. However, to really enjoy the system you have to use at least some of the advanced rules. Yet it's not as hard as it seems. With NO exaggeration I can teach you to play in 20 minutes. In fact if you guys would like to try something different I am willing to teach you guys to play online via Vassal and you could film it for your channel which is not something I have seen you guys do before. If you are interested post here and let me know.
