I don't care if the women suddenly wanted us to smell like horse shit, I would buy it by the case!! I have a head on me like an onion and a face only a mother could love, so I need ALL the help I can get with the ladies!! OH snap...I'm married....ya, piss on the sweet scents!! lol
I may do a follow up video as there were at least 10 more good ones I could have included in this list. Let me know if the Smelly Army would like this?
I so appreciate this list. Thank You. Masculinity seems to be on a downward spiral these days. It's inspiring to see examples of truly masculine scents as opposed to the gynocentric "unisex" fragrances that have buried the market in recent years.
Fantastic review !! I'm so happy that "my" Bentley for men Intense is in your list !!! It is definitely in my top 10 of my personal collection even if I don't wear it that much
Excellent sir! You are such a fluent talker. Great knowledge and constantly improving. Eau Sauvage is one of my top masculines and I was swayed into that one by an old video of yours. Bentley Intense is a corker too and I actually discovered that one for myself quite a while ago. Keep it up!
As a 23 year old, I love old school "masculine" fragrances but the women by age hate them. If I go out with my lady wearing something typical... Bleu de Chanel, Dylan Blue, Aventus etc. she says I smell sexy. However if I go out wearing Aramis or Brut she says I smell like her grandfather. We need a perfume house to find something that's a great balance of masculinity and youthfullness for us younger fellas.
M. S. BitEth That was quite a rant. I do think there are some nice sweeter smelling men’s fragrances out there like Ultra Male, One Million Prive, Pure Havanne, and Tom Ford Noir Extreme but trying to sell men cupcake scents is pushing it way too far. Also, house of silage fragrances are way overpriced and a HUGE waste of money. I don’t understand people who are okay with dropping over $300 on a fragrance.
I'll always assert the stand-by that you wear what you like, trends be damned. This idea of smelling like "an old man" is entirely arbitrary (same with the idea that wearing classic powerhouse fragrances make you a "real man", even though I love them).
You are definately one of the best reviewers out there! You know the ins and outs of every single fragrance you discuss. Too bad you haven't fully embraced the masculine perfection that is Lapidus Pour Homme yet, but it seems you are slowly getting there ;) Great list (except for Aramis, that to my nose smells so dated and old man-ish in a bad way). Looking forward to more lists from you soon.
Aramis! I bought that on vacation last year! im 28! its my favorite and my wife likes it allot too which im happy about! Very classy ! so happy to see that!
Great video. I own the final choice Bentley Intense. Surprisingly it smells a lot like a fragrance Imagine Scents recommended called Something Wild from Derek Lam Crosby 10, which is marketed for women. The openings are different but after several seconds they smell almost identical.
Really good video! Nice picks. Would actually be interested in a list broken down by decades. Your opinion on the best from each decade would make a great series.
Some fantastic fragrance choices here.I have most of them, all beauties.( I get a little puzzled by the male/female distinctions in perfumery and tend to think we're shoved into areas so I just wear what I like) - I would have added Azzaro Pour Homme and Knize 10. - May I suggest a video on the best 'feminines' for men ? - Thanks Smelly.
Some frags I thought of while watching this was definitely Drakkar Noir and Preferred Stock by Coty. Idk if you've ever smelled PS but I used to wear it alot and loved it.
Nice list. I'm a pretty big fan of most of the ones you've listed. My list would be somewhat different, which would include Cartier Santos, VC&A Pour Homme, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme (vintage) and perhaps Oud Palao
Bentley Intense......a must have masculine, classy, gentleman's scent for the autumn and winter months. Not a panty dropper, but a mature and sophisticated fragrance. In the future, I believe this fragrance will be coveted as a classic.
Glad you mentioned actually masculine colognes and not fragrances of today that smell like woman perfume with added ambroxan and random synthetic aromatic notes. I really like several of these like the Givenchy Gentleman, Polo green, Antaeus, etc
Bentley Intense is the only one I've owned, and it's definitely uber masculine, the boozy note is literally intoxicating. and it lasts forever and a day, can't beat it.
Dan, I'm a new subscriber and I really like your reviewing style, keep up the great work. I have both Givenchy Gentleman vintage 90's and 70''s version and Antaeus new version. Imo the most manly of them all. But a great list. If you've never smelled the 70' a version of Givenchy Gentleman, you must as it's so hardcore masculinity, animalic. It should be illegal, lol.
I was with you until Bentley Intense. I blind bought that and think it's horrible. But I do think I'll buy Polo Green as I remember that magical scent from high school.
I have 1997 version and 2017 version of Fahrenheit. The 1997 bottle went sour so I can’t compare it precisely to the newer one. However, I can still tell that the older one has a lot thicker gasoline accord along with darker, woodier and sharper scent profile. I loved the original back then, but I prefer the current formulation to the one from the 90s.
Go smell the current version but make sure you do so on an empty stomach! You don't want to have just eaten when you get a whiff of the garbage that now passes for it.
of all thoose 10, which would you recommend to a 21 year old student that loves to hit the clubs in the weekends, and attenting lectures during the week :)
Hi Dan, Great review, Have you tried Jacques Fath Pour l 'Homme, Its very similar to Bentley intense. But Sweeter, And there's more vanilla in it. More of everyday scent, Date, and Signature scent. Its not easy to get hold of, But if you can, Get some, Kevin Samuels does quite a few reviews on it. Absolutely beautiful.
Hawthorn is a beautiful shrub or small tree that grows in the Northern Hemisphere. Hawthorn flowers smell very strong, pleasantly sweet from a distance. Just to help out.:)
hi there Mr smelly, another great video, again some really interesting fragrances, the brut frag back in the day was advertised by a boxer called Henry Cooper, and his catch word was splash it all over the, and that was the problem everyone put far to much on soooo overpowering put me off for ever, aramis great if you are light on the trigger, a real classic, still learning to love kouros, but getting there, definitely going to be getting the Bentley sounds so good, thanks Mr smelly absolutely brilliant frags great talking point
Mr. Smelly - I mentioned this to you in one of the FB groups. The Special Reserve version you have is made by Idelle Labs/Helen of Troy. They also issue the 757 ml (25.6 oz) Brut cologne in the glass bottle on steroids found here: www.notino.co.uk/faberge/brut-cologne-water-for-men/ It's cheaper in the USA at about $28. I picked it up during one of Target .com's amazing year end sales for about $14 (£10)! The bottle looks so beautiful and towers above everything else. I actually don't even want to use it for that reason. I'm thinking of getting a backup bottle just to use before it can't be found for sale anymore. Brutworld USA told me it's based on the original Faberge formula, but I have a feeeling it's nearly the same as Special Reserve. I get a slightly more synthetic opening with Speical Reserve but the dry downs are similar. In the USA, Joe Namath was the spokesman for Brut around the time Henry Cooper advertised it in the UK. Listen to the tag line at the end of this commercial: ua-cam.com/video/zMOdn-8zK-Y/v-deo.html This is Henry Cooper for Brut ua-cam.com/video/DMd88QgkxqU/v-deo.html The Unilever version issued in the UK today is based on Brut 33, a much weaker version of Brut issued by Faberge in 1968. Some say it was called Brut 33 because it has one third of the fragrance oils that are in the original version.
To me these are some real back in the day masculine scented fragrances: Paco Rabanne Quorum Azzaro Aramis Versace L Homme Lapidus Boss (Original) Givenchy Gentleman Chaps English Leather Grey Flannel Tuscany Tuscany Per Uomo Antaeus Egoiste
Nice list mate. Aramis is a real sleeper, totally unique to my nose. For 30 or older in my opinion. I own Kouros Fraicheur and I still need to be careful on the trigger. Rive Gauche' is super clean and fresh, just like a wet shave.
I first smelled it on a guy when I was babysitting. I must have been about 14 (probably technically illegal now, but it was 25 years ago or more). I bought some but never wore it as I realised this is not a pubescent boy's cologne, this is a MAN's cologne. To me it has a real 'alpha' vibe to it, a sort of no nonsense leathery spice. Tuscany is another strongly masculine fragrance from the same company as I recall.
Thinking way back ... Polo green was THE scent for us college guys way back in 79...my dad had kouros in the early 80's ...a bit too much for me but I did buy Anateus in 82 for clubbing. My best cologne in those days was Calvin. No one wore it. A complex smell that changed by the minute. I bought a bottle on the relaunch in the.90's...nope..guess I wanted something a bit more subtle. For the warm weather..Armani Pour Homme...a soapy, citrus bomb that smelled even better when sweating. Thanks for sad little woody comment...how did you not crack up?
Just found an old bottle of Kouros from my closet..it still had some left, got it in mid 80´s hahah, it was a girl magnet in 86-90 when i was young and clubbing a lot..always i mean always ladies putted their hand on my shoulder(shoulder topping) and told me" You smell so good!" Other one that got same reaction from girls was Boss number 1. Now when i smell it..its just time travel back... damn my daughter is same age now i was then. Greetings from Finland, I love ur channel!
I think ima blind buy Bentley Intense. I'd sample it but I can't find a shop in Australia that stocks it. Based on the reviews I think I'll like it. I do tend to go for sweeter scents (think things like Code Profumo, 1 Million Prive, Ultra Male etc) but I need something a little more manly and I reckon this could be the one I'm looking for.
Bentley Intense, such an awesome uber masculine scent. Gucci Envy was many years my favorite raw, unmistakable masculine fragrance. Too bad is discontinued.
Great list. I totally agree with Bentley as number 1. Great boozy, manly 💪🏼, affordable scent. Disappointed not to see Lapidus Pour Homme. In my opinion its a classic, manly smell that lasts forever.
KING KOUROS is MUCH BETTER but KING KOUROS is for the SHEPHERD only and is NOT not for the sheep. I have worn this LEGEND since the 1981 launch and still wear it today. I’ve spent £thousands on different fragrances over the years but the TRUTH never lies and I ALWAYS come back to KING Kouros. Then it smells absolutely amazing on the opening! and then its projection/performance/longevity/dry down is also absolutely gorgeous!...... it’s known as KING KOUROS for a reason. It’s also the ULTIMATE women panty dropper TRUST ME! 10/10.
Please add or atleast mention: Azzaro-Pour homme + Paco Robanne-Pour homme + Chanel-Pour monsieur + Houbigant-fougère royale + Floris-Elite and Floris No.89 + Cartier-Santos + Dunhill-For men. Good Job. *** Edit: Givenchy-Xeryus vintage + Hugo Boss-Boss Number One
The sweet shoppe is closed. It's about time we started smelling manly again.
I don't care if the women suddenly wanted us to smell like horse shit, I would buy it by the case!! I have a head on me like an onion and a face only a mother could love, so I need ALL the help I can get with the ladies!! OH snap...I'm married....ya, piss on the sweet scents!! lol
Heck yeah!
Pretty sure my Aramis is gonna be my next toilet freshener
I may do a follow up video as there were at least 10 more good ones I could have included in this list. Let me know if the Smelly Army would like this?
MrSmelly1977 most definitely.... today's watered down beta male scents stink, Powerhouse scents rock.
I'm waiting :)
Yes please :)
MrSmelly1977 yes please.
Please do
I so appreciate this list. Thank You. Masculinity seems to be on a downward spiral these days. It's inspiring to see examples of truly masculine scents as opposed to the gynocentric "unisex" fragrances that have buried the market in recent years.
Thanks Rigfum your support keeps me going.
I literally LOVE this video! I'm 27 years old but I hate sweet fragrances ! Keep up the great work Mr. Smelly ! :)
You're 32 now
That intro killed me. Gym fails and frag head jokes work great haha
Thanks a lot and keep the videos coming.
Great list mate. I really enjoy your knowledge of vintage fragrances 👍
Thanks a lot love your videos too.
Fantastic review !! I'm so happy that "my" Bentley for men Intense is in your list !!! It is definitely in my top 10 of my personal collection even if I don't wear it that much
Solid list👌🏻 you’re getting quite the collection of old school classics now. Great to see some respect for the mighty Aramis too!
Thanks Ben.
Excellent sir! You are such a fluent talker. Great knowledge and constantly improving. Eau Sauvage is one of my top masculines and I was swayed into that one by an old video of yours. Bentley Intense is a corker too and I actually discovered that one for myself quite a while ago. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot Zoopy! Hopefully we will see you review on UA-cam someday!
As a 23 year old, I love old school "masculine" fragrances but the women by age hate them. If I go out with my lady wearing something typical... tried anataeus?? I have been complimented with that and I'm in my mid 20's
Corey Saunders Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense has some of that old school barbershop feel to it but has a nice modern twist to it. It’s very good.
M. S. BitEth That was quite a rant. I do think there are some nice sweeter smelling men’s fragrances out there like Ultra Male, One Million Prive, Pure Havanne, and Tom Ford Noir Extreme but trying to sell men cupcake scents is pushing it way too far. This idea of smelling like "an old man" is entirely arbitrary (same with the idea that wearing classic powerhouse fragrances make you a "real man", even though I love them).
Brut still works
You are definately one of the best reviewers out there! You know the ins and outs of every single fragrance you discuss. Too bad you haven't fully embraced the masculine perfection that is Lapidus Pour Homme yet, but it seems you are slowly getting there ;) Great list (except for Aramis, that to my nose smells so dated and old man-ish in a bad way). Looking forward to more lists from you soon.
My 16 year old son loves Bentley Intense for some strange reason... I have had it for about 2 years now only wore it once... Good vid 👍🏾
Great job. Have been anticipating this vid!
Thanks a lot DixieLiving.
I usually like the videos after the opening. The fragrance tips are just a bonus.
Fantastic run down of these! Thank you !
Dan, your intros are always entertaining but this is legendary!! Love the manly man scents, too.
I love the intro so much, in fact all of yours.
Aramis! I bought that on vacation last year! im 28! its my favorite and my wife likes it allot too which im happy about! Very classy ! so happy to see that!

Great list. I enjoyed this video as usual.
Anyone else watch the old 70's and 80's cologne commercials?! Brut and ones like TABAC, cracked me up!! Great vids, love your channel lad! Cheers!~
Nice list. I'm a pretty big fan of most of the ones you've listed. My list would be somewhat different, which would include Cartier Santos, VC&A Pour Homme, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme (vintage) and perhaps Oud Palao
Excellent list Dan thank you. Dior Eau Sauvage is top notch as is Givenchy Gentleman. Aramis is good as is the Bentley.
Bentley Intense......a must have masculine, classy, gentleman's scent for the autumn and winter months. Not a panty dropper, but a mature and sophisticated fragrance. In the future, I believe this fragrance will be coveted as a classic.

Love the casualness of the sad little woody comment lol. Great video mate.
Great list love these scents
Thanks a lot Matt!
I live your taste on the classic men’s fragrances!
Bentley Intense is the only one I've owned, and it's definitely uber masculine, the boozy note is literally intoxicating. and it lasts forever and a day, can't beat it.
I'm all over the Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012! I just picked up a used (85ml) bottle for $50 to compliment my 200 ml. Great juice!
Rive Gauche is so identical to Azzaro Pour Homme. Just more velvety/smoother to me. love it
Dan, I'm a new subscriber and I really like your reviewing style, keep up the great work. I have both Givenchy Gentleman vintage 90's and 70''s version and Antaeus new version. great list,Ceasar Legendary Man (vintage) is a conqueror, imo,as well
I was with you until Bentley Intense. I blind bought that and think it's horrible. But I do think I'll buy Polo Green as I remember that magical scent from high school.
Great vid as always Mr smelly! Will you be doing a niche version as to include the mighty bois du portugal?
for some reason i was hiping to see gucci guilty absolute on the top spot....but bentley hands down is one if the best. great list :)
Thanks Joy. Gucci Guilty Absolute is a good choice -one of the most unique recent releases.
Hey Joy, I got a Armaf Niche Oud. And I feel it smells exactly like Bentley Intense. I have both the bottles in my collection.
Nice work Mr smelly
Have you tried aramis Tuscany uomo, zino Davidoff I would love to hear your thoughts before I buy them
True!! "Masculine" scents have been out the window for a while!!BUT I tell You it's COMING Back!!
wow... Polo green was my first real fragrance in the early 90's - a gift from a friend in the USA, so your history explains a lot.
Want to buy Fahrenheit vintage. Need credible source to purchase the juice. Kindly suggest options
Wow, I got Polo Green as a gift in the early 90's from a friend in the USA. Your history explains why... Thanks for a nice video
Go smell the current version but make sure you do so on an empty stomach! You don't want to have just eaten when you get a whiff of the garbage that now passes for it.
The current version is just fine. Still the ideal "scent of a man".
Love you man!

I got the brut version with the golden chain from france is there A difference to the US version?
Thanks for the awesome video. I would suggest you to add one masterpiece called Zino by Davidoff, you mentioned it at the end of the video.
i always love your intro. much love from Ghana, West Africa.
Thanks a lot Eugene. It is really great to know people watch all over the world!
Best list i own almost all of them.
As always, interesting. Bentley and Dior, very good choice! Great!
Thanks a lot Chris.
the most masculine, classy fragrance in my collection is Arrogance Pour Homme. try it out. I think you will love it.

Givenchy Gentleman

Antaeus

Looking for the niche list! Great list
What are your thoughts on Yatagan by Caron? I’ve heard it described as something that might put it on a list like this.
Nice list mate. Aramis is a real sleeper, totally unique to my nose. For 30 or older in my opinion. I own Kouros Fraicheur and I still need to be careful on the trigger. Rive Gauche' is super clean and fresh, just like a wet shave.
Thanks I was pleased to add Aramis to my collection for this video.
I first smelled it on a guy when I was babysitting. I must have been about 14 (probably technically illegal now, but it was 25 years ago or more). Must re try Tuscany and Devin and a few from Aramis... Havana!
Great job.
Id really like to buy the Bentley Intense Fragrence but im afraid of not fitting to its smell. im 21. great reviews! very nice niche channel
Thanks a lot Alpha!
Brut! The ultimate classic old school rugged cologne....I would use my dad's stash all the time in the 80's
Greetings from Finland, I love ur channel!
vintage kouros is the best i have all of the years.
Hi, what u think about Taylor of old bond street luxury sandlewood Cologne. It's in my opinion amazing and very maculine.
have several mentioned, rockin Giorgio by Giorgio Beverly Hills right now, another patchouli bomb.
You got some nice art books :) And a guitar amp? Interesting.
SOTD Bois du Portugal - i know you like it,and i was expecting it will be here , but ...
Yes for ES Parfum, Antaeus and Bentley Intense!
Bentley Intense, such an awesome uber masculine scent. Gucci Envy was many years my favorite raw, unmistakable masculine fragrance. Too bad is discontinued.
Thans Lucian. I must re try Envy. Agreed about Bentley!
Great choices
Great video, thank you
Hello.Hope you are well. I would like to get your opinion on Hugo Boss Boss Number One V, Kouros
That Bentley one is a great frag...but...as i am not a fan of patchouli..i sadly had to gift it away...but is def masc and long lasting.
What’s your take Dan on Guerlain Vetiver?
Loved Yatagan first time around when I was 17, now 62 and just bought another bottle to see if it's as hard hitting. Yep, it is!
But its sillage is just 1 hour
Yatagan was released in '78, so you're either 60 or you were 19 back then.
@@andreidanielpetre Lol, I think I know how old I am so maybe 19 yes ;-)
Great video!!!
i only see classics in your list, but they are good indeed
Do you think that Cerruti 1881 could be a sub for Dior Eau sauvage ?
Great list. I totally agree with Bentley as number 1. Great boozy, manly 💪🏼, affordable scent. Disappointed not to see Lapidus Pour Homme. In my opinion its a classic, manly smell that lasts forever.
Calvin Klein Obsession for Men is the Goat. That dry down is unstoppable and magnetic
Definitely some meaty fist-to-face selections., which I quite enjoy when I'm in the right take-no-shit mood. Top-notch list!
Have you tried Lapidus Black Extreme?
oh and you need to add Quorum as well as Paco Rabanne pour Homme. Two masterpieces.
My dad's signature is Aramis Aramis, and he loves POLO Green! He was a stock market guy in the 70s and 80s so your explanation isn't wrong hahha.
Great video. Eau Savage by Dior is one of my favourites. I love this fragrance. I also get a lot of compliments.
You shoul try tom ford noir antracite or pure carbon by just jack
Guerlain heritage is fantastic and masculine
I'm gonna have to do a 2nd video on this! So many great choices.
Look forward to it
What is the watch in this video Dan?
I'll add 4 fragrances
1. Guy Laroche - Drakkar Noir
2. Carolina Herrera - Herrera for Men
3. Dior - Eau Sauvage (1966)
4. Guerlain - Héritage
Is that a Marshall head in the background?
KING KOUROS is MUCH BETTER but KING KOUROS is for the SHEPHERD only and is NOT not for the sheep.
I have worn this LEGEND since the 1981 launch and still wear it today. I’ve spent £thousands on different fragrances over the years but the TRUTH never lies and I ALWAYS come back to KING Kouros.
Tip:
Buy from BOOTS (only) because it’s virtually the same as the original mind blow 80s version, just gotta shake each time before use to keep all the notes mixed properly!
What about "Uncle Oscar's" fragrances (Por Lui and for man)??
really love the horns satan :)
How's the performance on brut?
Love aramis but the new version is watered down. Still a nice masculine cologne
Who's there in photo at the last?
