You are 100% right. The Vitaras were and still are the best of Suzuki. In aspects of on and off road ability, reliability and safety. In fact it is pretty much impossible to find an SUV in the Vitara category with such stats.
@@robertpopescu9652 don't know man old vitaras first gen and second gen can fit 30 inch tyres on them stock. They have more ground clearance and a slightly more powerful engine. Jimmy's come into their own with live axles. But those little springs don't give you very much front end articulation at all. I would say stock and near stock a Vitara would beat the jimny. However lift the jimny fit 30 inch tyres under it and remove the sway bars. Then most 4wds won't keep up.
These cars are ace, I've got a 2002 model (19 years old) same colour as this but with a bit of added plastic styling, 64,00miles. I use it as a moutain biking transporter car and it's absolutely fantastic. It's called Peanut and apart from some serious underside rust it's great! I love it! Oh the alternator belt squeals too, but only when it's wet and cold........just brilliant.
I just bought a clean 04 Vitara 4 dr. 5speed 4wd here in the US. They are a bit of a rare bird in the US today (the Vitara model specifically) but I LOVE these little SUV's. Tough as nails, real 4WD capability and surprisingly roomy for such a compact package. Thanks for reviewing yours; they are great vehicles!
I still have this car. Have sold it a few times. Thankfully, both parties backed out, buyers first, and then me. I am going to do a refurb, replace carpets, seat upholstery, respray etc. The colour scheme is to be decided . 83k miles now, As good as the day I bought it.
What a superb little 4x4 this Vitara is. I have driven one for years for falconry and equestrian tasks. It was tough as nails. The only car that now comes close is the Dacia Duster.
Still have my 04 GV 1600 in SE form, a great little 'daily' and with decent tyres a real go anywhere vehicle.....The alternator belt on mine too squealed, but a new belt and correct tensioning fixed it, about 15 mins work!
Fab review. Loved the tongue in cheek style - the sticker, ecosystem and parking aid! Lol. I’m wondering why youtube is now recommending me lots of Suzuki videos...haha
I have the 2.0 petrol and I can tell you it’s not any faster but by god it’s a fun driving jeep, loved the video got a good laugh from some of the things you said
For RHD, Indicators on RHS column is the right side, especially for manual cars, so one hand isn’t trying to do two things potentially simultaneously. LHS location makes sense for LHD cars - UK only RHD market that demands LHS location.
5:05 I used to have a '97 Fiesta and drove it mostly on small roads which was fine. If I took it on the motorway, it became quite unsettling how hard the steering wheel would shake.
Last year I got a 2004 GV1600 (Not the facelist as shown in the video). I prefered this over the tiny Jimny since this is a better all rounder. I expect to reach my offroad limits before reaching the GV1600 limits. Its nice to feel that you can go wherever you want without thinking about ground clearance, scratching the paint or Aluminium Rims... Great fun!
This was my very first car purchase! Same year and colour too! Was tough as nails. Fond memories ❤️ (and yes; the alternator belt used to screech like a banshee!! The looks you used to get lol)
The grand Vitara is getting more popular these cars are really reliable and 4x4 is great I have 230kmiles on it now and still running like new but we need more aftermarket parts for it
I wish they sold the 3 door grand Vitara in Canada. I’ve owned 2 of the v6 5 door model. First one I owned had the 2.5l swapped out for the 2.7l from an XL 7 . They need air conditioning if you live anywhere warm. All the big windows and small size make it like a greenhouse.
Great funny review.... just bought a nice condition 2005 with 77 K (miles) on the clock... the indicators on the right is the correct place for a right hand drive car.... I remember my Austin Allegro (nightmare) left hand for gears right for the indicators.... we have all got used to European cars... It's going to get some A/T tyres and a tow bar for various country pursuits bit bigger than my Jimny hope it's as useful.....Cheers....Trev
Brilliant likely to be me next 'farm' car when my vintage 2000 k series freelander dies. Much better than just another boring boring new boring car review. Nicely delivered as well thanks.
I have same car but 2002 convertible I’ve had 2 of them I love her so much but things need doing all the time great cars sadly I’m having to let her go and get a normal boring car she needs too much doing to get her thro MOT I’m very sad they are fabulous cars just wish I was skilled in fixing cars yes my fan belt used to screech in cold and wet everyone used to stare when I drove down the road I so wish I could save her she’s been the beat car I’ve ever had I had a brand new Mazda once but give me one of these any day x love ur video yes 7 Cup holders ???? Yours has more gizmos upfront to mine
Think you got screwed over there in Ireland to kiddo. I had a 98 Suzuki four-door 5 speed manual I could do 70 and 75 she didn't rattle a bit. But I am in the United States maybe that's the difference
Had the same vehicle with the 2.0hdi engine and what a complete bundle of shite if there ever was. Both crankshaft oil seals leaking fucked up the clutch, so new clutch, then 2nd dary accelerator, knock sensor, crank sensor, back axle diff, lost 2nd gear then low range went, endless plug-ins for imaginary EM faults that didn't exist or system couldn't find them, electrics , electronics, £1400 in plugins 1st year alone then it was scrapped. I wouldn't sell that to my worst enemy. Once bitten, never ever have a SUZUKI in any model of motor again. Sorry for the tears, twas a painful time for my wallet.
My wife has a 2005 1.6 vitara ,last week see pulled my 2.8 ton tractor with topper that broke down in a field.these are truly amazing vehicles.
These are all too forgotten about. The Jimny gets all the attention, yet these are without doubt the better all rounder

@@celticwarrior3330 I suppose the silver lining is, the prices haven't gone mad, unlike the Jimny.
Have you ever seen what a Jimny can do in the off road? GV is more comfortable on the road but can't beat a Jimny in the mud, ever.

Duster has nothing to do with GV. Mechanically speaking.
How about the Jimny?
@@CastleKnight7 The Jimny has a short wheelbase and only three doors. Great little car though.

When in 2 wheel drive it's rwd not front wheel drive....
Is that true ?

Question: Is it expensive to repair anything on this vehicle?
It WAS a special treat!
The rear light moss is great.

I recognise that car it was for sale in mullingar for €5000 five years ago in a toyota garage

I've got exactly the same one on a 2003 it's on 60k currently looking for alloys and it's just had cambelt and waterpump done,
A delight its not another Audi....LOVE the rear parking aid !
The cup holders are because of the x7 , they couldn't be bothered to change the cup holders setup.
I dig your humour!

Hi tell me what rpm on motorway if you going 120km/h?
Are you highlighting doing ads for ribena?
Liked this down to earth discription, and the cat,, PS I have the same model,,
In two high does the back tyres spin or the front
Interesting take on this vehicle.
I drive around the city. Getting up to highway speed.
Brilliant jeep. Love them.
Absolutely loved it 😂
I have the 03 automatic version
Had to rebuild the engine twice and the transmission once
Not recommended in NA market, since Suzuki has left NA.
That's fine, just get a Chevrolet tracker 2nd gen. Same platform, all da support.
@@ninjahood There are still some Suzuki parts. though
Love it, Bring the GV back :)
Are u selling?
how many mpg?

I want me one of these
Cool
Your Suzuki is more superior than X6 because it is a Coupè and it is more off-road capable (with it low gear and central diff lock) 👍

It squeels when it's wet.... Ok😏
at least you can wash it from month to month...omg. i never seen such a deliberate no care of a car. shame on you.

What did you with the pretty lady? No offense, but she was much more exciting to hear talk about cars.
