Gothic, with bluesy vibes...so dark, so romantic. Gorgeous!!!
Yes they use the quite stillness very good
Then you dont know what real gothic is.
There's something nostalgic about the chorus. Sounds like something straight out of the 90s. And those crushing guitars and drums during the exit. I can't wait for this new album.
Kind of like the main theme of The Phantom of the Opera maybe I heard just now while I was doing dishes
I bet the chorus reminds you of Plush by STP. That song has similar chord progressions and tone.
@@DanHuberTube Phantom of the Opera is so underrated. Definitely the musical to get a high school music class to respect musicals.
This woman with this band...perfection❤
Criminally underrated singer, band and track
Can't get over these vocals. Can't get over the moody composition and atmosphere this creates. Entranced, boiiii!
The last 2 minutes of this song fucking KILL.
You know what's gooood
Those last to minutes are fucking fire!
I’ve never heard a band with this sound… wow
Cammie is hands down one of the best female vocalists regardless of genre.
Facts
definitely. along with tatiana form jinjer and courtney laplante from spiritbox.
@@ArturoGarcia007 Not to mention Floor Jansen (e.g. After Forever, ReVamp, Northward, Ayreon, Devin Townsend & Nightwish).
Her voice just gets better and better!
Not the top for me,but very emotional and personal tone colour in her vocal lines. Anneke from The Gathering is untouchable.
Her voice is phenomenal.
Right it just pulls you in
OMG She is mesmerizing !!!!!
Her voice is the only voice that literally brings tears to my eyes. Wow what a woman and band!
I just discovered this band in the last few days, and I'm loving them overall. But this song? I'm obsessed.
The melancholy hits deep and lovely. I need more of this.
This lady is a freaking monster, love everything about her talent.
Her voice is very, very cool.
Her voice is remarkable 😍
The music is dreamlike and drifting. The vocals are beautiful and powerful. I love Floor Jansen, Anneke Van Geisenberg, Brittany Slayes, Marcella Bovio. And now I love Cammie Gilbert.
I'm here because she is part of Ayreon's new album Transitus so, great voice, Mr.Lucassen never wrong
Mayari Arusha me too :D
Same here xP
Me too! As soon as I heard your voice, I paused the Transitus video and looked you up, Cammie. New favorite band!
Me too. Discovered Ayreon in 2004. It was a new dimension of music. Now i´m glad i found this great band. The world needs more people who listen to beautiful music. The Ayreon Video with Cammie was uploaded on the day of my heart attack.
the other way around i already knew oceans of slumber, and was impressed by Arjen he found her that fast
We need more black woman magic in metal.
The epicness and raw talent and passion gives me chills, you are amazing Cammie! lml
Well ... I'm 40 so I don't think of that angle when someone says that .. I immediately thought of a couple of Bands that had black female vocalists .. Skunk Anansie was 🔥🔥 And there was a band from Australia called Primary that never took off back in the day but I always thought they were brilliant ... So it's just about the talent and different mix black vocalists bring to metal .. not trying to even the identity politics scor .. It's not because of any reason other than more bangin' 🎶 ... I will put couple of songs from those vox I mentioned ..🤘
@@SatansDonkey666 Asking for diversity in music isn't virtue signaling. Metal was founded by breaking the standards of regular music. Sorry your fragile white masculinity can't handle black people or women in heavy metal. Fuckin' snowflake.
Check out Ad Infinitum for more :)
Melissa Bonny sings mainly clean, but she can do the cookie monster vocals too.
@@SatansDonkey666 don't over-react, there will inevitably come a time when labels, booking agents and venues are called on to openly play favorites and try to push trans/women/non-whites to the front of our scene, and that'll be the time to get upset, but just saying "hey I'd like it if there were more black women in metal" is nothing to get worked up over, Paula just likes the vibe she's getting from OOS and would like more of it, nuthin wrong with that at all.
satans donkey, the metal scene doesn't want you in it if that's how you're gonna behave
there's a certain tension in this song that is from the start to the end, it bears a certain heaviness almost to the point of collapsing but not really. it's like a spring that's pulled to the maximum and about to brake but not really. very intense song, video and music. i believe the album is gonna be very heavy :O
nice description
Huh?
Totally agree. If you take what you said and think of the song title. It's almost like your watching someone or someone watching you die and all you/they can do is say farewell
Spot on.
It's like Opeth, Antimatter, and Skunk Anansie got together. I love this album.
The end of this song is something that hurts the soul so beautiful !!!
This is so blues/southern gothic meets progressive metal. This is so unique to me
And a bit of funeral doom
This is my first time to here this band and DAMN this lady's got some pipes on her! I love their sound !!💯❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
[LYRICS]
Broken glass and I am holding my breath
Weak hands are trembling
I thought today would be like any other
But the bell jars coming down
A sudden sinking and my heart is falling
Right down into the ground
I feel the panic inside overtaking
Any resolve I thought I'd found
On the ledge we danced, now we are falling
And the walls are closing in
When the darkness gathers, we are crawling
And the worms are coming in
My thoughts are racing and my heart is shattered
Like a bird caught in a cage
Like the sky that fights the storm from overtaking
The serene I thought I'd found
It waits for me
Oh, it never really left
It takes hold of me
And it drags me straight to Hell
On the ledge we danced, now we are falling
And the walls are closing in
When the darkness gathers, we are crawling
And the worms are coming in
In only a moment the tides have all changed
Erasing the work and toil of previous days
I lean into the void
That I always knew would come to reclaim my light
I have spent my whole life running
And I have tried, I have tried to flee from myself
I could never, no, I could never weather the storm
That was rising, rising, rising from within me
It doesn't matter the time in between
Darkness carved its mark in me
Carved its mark in everything
But I'm done, I'm done running
I stand in the rain
Here I stand
Purge my fear, and make my claim
Gorgeous. Metal has all the powerhouse ladies these days ❤️
Dude.. as a 24yr old black female guitarist who loves the fuck out of metal...
😭😭 I've never been more proud to be me till today 🤘🏿🤘🤘🏾
Hell yeah. She is a guest on the new ISON album and gracing metal magazine covers in the US , Europe & S.A. I love that we are finally expanding into a faceless community. Do you have any demos?
Cheers
I'm 26, feminine black metalhead and goth guy. I've been a metalhead for 12 years. Metal is life. Metal is 24/7 for me!
@@thelastdaybreathinginetern1385 l"m glad to hear that black people likes and DO METAL!
@@crossbringer Yup, they exist...
You did know that, right?
There's many black people in metal.
Check out, Loathe- Screaming, and Heavy is the head
Another evolution in sound, I just love the music this band creates, I hope people promote the hell out of them
I surly will. I never heard of them today. I was like this name sounds cool, sure it was black female singer and was even more hooked.

Her voice want to cry in the best possible way. Absolutely stunning.
Wow! What can I say? The beginning very smooth, then the chorus kicks in with that beautiful melody, then that heavy guitar riff then that bridge hits you like 👀. What a beautiful dark song
Hands down one of my favorite songs 😍😍
Her voice... Oh my Gods!
Her voice is insane, it gives me goosebumps.
amen to that perfect combination
Beautiful composition, dense arrangements, beautiful vocals! Congratulations to the band!!!! Magnificent work!!!
WOW WOW What a Voice she has. More people need to here this voice
This is beautiful. How can it be that I never heard of them before 😳😳😳
It feels like a part of her soul is no longer hers, it's part of this song now and a gift to all of us...
Music is art in general but not every artist can paint a picture. This right here is beautiful. July 2020
Cammie found a level of confidence and comfort here that was lacking in previous releases. She's all in and so am I.
I'm here because of Cammie's participating in a song by post-rock project ISON which was the first time I ever heard her. It'd sounded good, and I expected that her deep dark voice would suit metal music even better. But I didn't expect the music itself would appear so cool (I've read Cammie composes music, too) and her singing manner, apart from the voice, is so unlike anyone else's, simply mesmerizing. It's something subtle, but very unusual in her. I feel there's a gripping journey into Oceans of Slumber stretching itself before me :-)
Unbelievable vocals, she is awesome....insane. I love this song and the vocals
She has one of my favorite voices in all of modern music as a whole. So pure, powerful and emotive without ever seeming forced or over the top. Just great.
The Banished Heart is a standout album, but I think maybe we will be in for another one by this amazing band. Mighty good song!
It still amazes me two of em are ex- Insect Warfare...
And yeah, this is beautiful. Hope this album breaks them through to serious success. One of the best gigs i saw last year (swallow the sun headlining were equally fantastic.) Out of all the shows i saw 2019, Oceans need to be seen again almost the most (Rotting Christ are down for my got to see again #1 slot)
This song right here. Damn good.
Such a pure voice, and so much talent behind it. This band is a hidden gem. Hidden under all this corporate society music.
I have waited for so long this for this. I can die in peace now.
That deserves a facepalm for the biggest overreaction ever...
Incredible as always Cammie you are a true force of nature ❤️🤘🏻
I actually can't get enough of this song. Her voice is so captivating.
Getting every last drop from that baseline 🔥🔥🤘
That voice! ❤️
Today I discovered it!!!
Her voice... What power!
Absolutely . I'm here for this word up ... BUNG !!! 💯🎯🗣️🔥🤤🔵
her voice leaves me stunned....truly talent out of this world!! 💗💗
Gimme, gimme, gimme awesome!
What a power in that voice! she makes the show!
This is fantastic! These beautifully haunting vocals and the heavy chord progressions are giving me goosebumps.
Cammie is the best singer in metal right now.
check melissa bonny from ad infinitum
Technically and objectively speaking, in metal as a general genre, Floor Jansen, Tatiana Shmaylyuk, Cristina Scabbia, Sharon den Adel, Anneke van Giersbergen, etc, could be considered better metal singers.
But in the genre of doom metal specifically, Cammie Gilbert is probably the best female singer.
For Metal in general, I'd say she's in the top 40 female vocalists.
I love oceans of slumber! Every album brings a new feeling and sound and the new songs have a lot of soul in it mixed with metal. I will support and buy this album too 🤟🏼
I'm so glad that I found Oceans of Slumber thanks to my husband's love of Ayreon
So glad I discovered this band. Cammie's vocals are out of this world, and the rest of the band is incredible too. They deserve more recognition!
First time hearing this band. Absolutely fantastic would be an understatement. Vocals are beyond anything I've heard 😮
One of the most unique metal songs I've ever heard, so beautiful!!!!
It's a unique masterpiece. I love what's coming up after the pause.
I have never fallen in love with a vocalist so hard
Tough one for me Cammie and Floor are a dead tie both blew my mind when first hearing. I have been lucky to see Floor twice I wish this band toured near me I would go to many shows but it does not appear they get north that much
Can't wait to hear more!
I just found out about this band from a guitar giveaway on Revolver and i gotta say... this fills a musical void i’ve had for a long while. Love it.
Their music moves me to tears, I absolutely LOVE them! The first song I heard was their cover of “On the Turning Away” by Pink Floyd. Been a big fan ever since. Cammie’s voice is simply lovely. Can’t wait for the new album ♥️
Man, this band is going places. Her voice and how she use it its a pillar of OoS.
This album is already one of the few good things of this year!
This seems to be the right place for some good music ❤️
The entire band is a pure talent juggernaut.
This will be a second good doom metal band I've found this week. And with female vocals on top of that. Loving it!
By far my fave song from them!! Love Cammie!!
I’ve never been a fan of any metal band. Until I listened to Oceans of Slumber. This song gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Awesome amazing song.
This is like if Amy Lee sang goth blues and I’m 100% in for it
Se Amy cantasse nesse genero seria muito melhor. As vozes de ambas tem mesma tonalidade em algumas partes.
The first time I heard them was last night at a concert and I was in love with their music instantly.
This is just on a whole other level of beauty and badassness all in one...MIND BLOWN
Really digging her vocals. Very natural and raw. The band have their parts down and play very well together. I really like this track.
This was amazing, glad I clicked. I love her voice, it fits so nicely. Also we need more black females in the metal industry, I hope this opens the eyes to future black females.
Right our voices are already powerful so this makes perfect since
***Opens the eyes of the yt-dominated metal industry to the exceeding potential and necessity of black female singers.*** There are already black women who love and sing metal.
Now I undestand, the singer is Kaya!!! Love it!
I came here because of Magic, and I already love 🤟🏾🇧🇷🤘🏾
What a voice!
The best album of the year!
Me and my best friend, who is black, once jokingly decided to count black people vs men in skirts on a 10000 people metal festival. The end score (her included) was 9 black persons vs 24 men wearing a skirt.
The black community is severely underrepresented in the metal world. That's why seeing this woman makes me so happy.
This song is the theme song to my life at this moment.
In these strange days, we can still see hope!
Her voice is so powerful
Captivating voice.
doom heart, doom spirit, crushing your grief and getting to light and equilibrium...
Well put. 😊
Incredible! There is so much feeling and emotions in this music that you rarely hear these days.
This is great!!
WOW!!!
Beautiful in every way 🖤 I hope many more get to enjoy this masterpiece!
Her vocals are so haunting and amazing! The tone and bits of soul that burst from her lungs at times are enough to give you full body chills. Then there’s the fact that she is riding this wave with some super talented dudes! Probably my newest favorite band that I can’t stop listening to.
Cheers to Oceans of Slumber. 🍻🤘
This band's writing gets sharper and sharper with every album cycle. I'm so excited for the new record
I LOVE this! Can't wait for new music!
an interesting listen..not necessarily my cup of tea..but i am very open minded and honestly her voice fit the music perfectly..it lent to the overall sonic depth of this song and the emotion i think they were trying to capture along with the visuals...a very dark and sombre sounding track with a powerful singer who's vocal timbre really lent to that whole vibe..thumbs up.
Fantastic, a masterpiece of this century.
Absolutely beautifully breathtaking. I have Spotify Premium and they recommended this song to me about an hour ago and I'm so glad I clicked it! I've listened to it over and over and over and over! Absolutely, perfectly beautiful!🔥🔥🔥
