Outstanding inspirational video. Such great advice. No matter what field you are in, there will be hard and frustrating times, but if you are passionate about that field you have to work through those days, then you will really enjoy the good ones. Thanks so much for the video.

Thank you so much John! Absolutely, it's easier to get through the hard times when you know "I'd rather be doing this than doing some job I hate every day". Not every day is wonderful but as long as the good outweighs the bad by a large margin, it makes it so gratifying. And even messing up, you learn from those experiences, so even those aren't the worst

Well said!! I like how you mention that you can change your passion, my passion was computers and I've worked in the I.T. field for 22yrs now! And I don't hate my job, but I did realize a couple years ago that it wasn't my passion anymore. My passion was now on photography, and It'll be a year in a couple weeks that I officially started my photography business! It's going slow as I expected it would at first, but I know this year will be better and next year even better!!! I still have a lot to learn and am excited about it. I also still happily do my IT job until hopefully one day I do the transition of Photography being my main job.

And that's a thing Eddie, you don't necessarily have to trade one for another. For example, I like working out but I also like running. So I don't have to do one or the other. A beautiful thing about life is that we have choices and you can do both those things. If you can make income from two different professions, you're way ahead of most people. And the fact that you love both of them is even better! See you next week at the Dry Lake Bed! It's gonna be a great day!

Thank you so much, my brother! And I appreciate you mentioning that you found us through a lens review video. I post those because I know they get a lot of traction on UA-cam but personally, I love posting more videos like these. I appreciate you sharing our videos as well! 🙏

Gonna throw a wrench on this one real quick.
Sometimes, it's alright to walk away from your passion for whatever reason. Akin to rediscovering music you forgot about, having you fall in love with it all over again.
Had I not thrown in the towel in 2014, I wouldn't have made the come back I did last year with my new brand and a very different outlook on how I run my business going forward.

Oh hell yeah dude, I completely agree with that! I think that there’s nothing wrong with admitting when you’re wrong either. So let’s say you go out and you try to go into a certain genre of photography and then you realize wait. You know what, it was something else that I actually wanted to do, being able to pivot and admit that you’re wrong and change directions is a beautiful thing. No one says you have to make one choice and then stick with it for the rest of your life. Btw hit me up on ig. We’re doing a shoot for fun on the 23rd in LA if you wanna join us (dry lake bed in Palmdale) if you’re local 🙌

But yeah dude, I was covering Quinceañeras for a long time but damn did I burn out. I mean, I didn't deal with bad clients per say, but every single job started with price haggling, followed by creative fights with the Tios and Grandmas acting like they art directors and shit. After a few years I was like fuck this, I'm out. Went back to school full time for both business and photography.
And I'm glad I did. Learned a lot from both experiences.

Hi yeah dude and that’s how you learn what you want to do and what you don’t want to do. What you’re describing about Quinceañeras is what we dealt with in the beginning when we were doing different pricing for them. What we do now is we charge the same for a quinceañera we do for a wedding because it entails the same amount of work. The beautiful thing is that it weeds out all those types of clients that are going to be fixated on just pricing. The couple of quinces that we do a year, always amazing clients and extremely grateful because they value what we do 🙌

Well said. But You can pursue your passion and work to pay the bills until your passion can take over or just make your passion into a hobby or a relief if I said that right.

    • @TNKPhoto

100% Jeff. Your definition of success is your own. I have photographers on our team who shoot cause it's fun and they have full time jobs and others who are running their own businesses (photo, photo and video), and others who just wanna shoot but don't want it to completely take over their lives...that's the beautiful thing about having choices and not feel like you "have to do" anything. Thank you for watching
