Watching the design slowly emerge on these dirty carpets is like a fun surprise. 😊

I always love the amazing work you do, especially on the ones we first think are unable to be saved. I don't always love the patterns, however. To each their own, though, right? The pattern & colors on this one is totally something I would love in my home. Even if it was once covered in slime & mostly smelled absolutely disgusting. I know that at the end, it is clean, sanitized, & smells fresh & clean. ❤

Why doesn't anyone put these on an elevated grate so that the water can push the dirt through without it getting trapped underneath on a flat floor?

  • @anncampbell9257

Congratulations - the result looks great! I’ve had the misfortune to suffer losing a ton of possessions in floods, because our sewers backed up with every major rain event. It takes extra time to recover the items that were underwater - those sewer germs are not only a health hazard, but 5he scent is gawdawful!

Question for you on rugs this dirty. would some sort of a substrate that would let the mud/debris flow under be more useful? seems like the dirt gets trapped under the rug, then has to be flipped. I would think more efficient to blow the mud through and down on a hex grid or something. satisfying to watch the final product though.

I wrote out the steps to cleaning a rug:
    Rinse
    Shower
    Push broom
Watering can of what I suspect to be acid fiber rinse
    Bristle brush
    Shower
    Metal squeegee
    Watering can
    Rotary scrub
    Metal squeegee
    Rotary scrub
    Scraper looking thing
    Watering can
    Push broom
    Buckets of liquid
    Metal squeegee
    Pressure washer
    Scraper
Flip it over and squeegee away the muck
    Pressure wash
    Watering can
    Rotary scrub
    Pressure wash
    Pressure wash beneath it
    Flip it over
    Pressure wash
    Pressure wash beneath it
    Squeegee
    Watering can
    Rotary scrub
    Metal squeegee
    Bucket of liquid
    Scraper
    Fold and rinse
    Flip and rinse
    Rotary scrub
    Metal squeegee
    Bucket of liquid
    Metal squeegee
    Job done, marvelous rug found

9:35 this power washing step. If you had some kind of grate to place this on, I wonder if you could up your efficiency by allowing the dirt filled water to drain onto the floor through the grate instead of having yo flip it over to get to the other side. At the very least it would allow you to get more dirt out of the carpet per power wash.

Seems like there is a lot of wasted effort by cleaning the rug, around it, clean the rug then around it. Pre-planning, a sloped floor or a device to access both sides would make more sense. Pressure washing more often helps also
