Its like it gives this shot of adrenaline (probably not), you stiffen up and open your eyes wide, sometimes even when it was intended. The moment may still come as a surprise.

Those animals are made of fat, they are used to getting hit. This one is a female elephant seal, and I'm pretty sure rolling by an hill and hitting those rocks is much better than her entire life, especially when almost crashed alive by the dominant male
