      Please keep in mind that episodes *6, 8, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 36, 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48,* and *49* _have _*_scenes after the credits;_* they are sometimes just fun little vignettes, but *often they include significant details that **_will_** be relevant later on,* and that might make some future events confusing if you haven't watched them; _it's therefore highly recommended to watch them._ If you don't have this list at hand, just look at how much time is left in the video when you get to the credits; if it's more than usual, there's almost certainly a post-credits scene.
      Furthermore, the credits in episodes *45, 54, 63,* and *64* are different than usual, and worth watching (especially the ones in *64,* which everyone will probably be expecting a reaction to).

    This episode left a big impression on me because Rose's story is *exactly* how cults indoctrinate people. They pick the people who were struck by tragedy and say that they are able to heal them or even reverse it, as we see in this episode. They give them a sense of purpose and community and reshape them as people after they were broken. It's genuinely quite chilling.

      @Renozable 2 роки тому +20

      @@sns6995 well to be fair: the basic idea about religion is spreading the faith and get new believers to help the community grow. Therefore especially kids undergo indoctrination and there’s no difference in Christianity, Islam or any other religion. So indoctrination is part of it. Nevertheless there’s a difference in how people interpret and live their beliefs. I’m not a fan of religion since it’s not adaptable to science (even if some people wouldn’t agree). Religion has the problem of sticking to old beliefs without questioning. And there’s the cut to science. Science also has its own issues which will be pointed out with the next episode quite well.

    While Ed has really only been a state alchemist for a few years, he has travelled all over the country on his journey, unlike many other state alchemist who focus on their research or serve on the battlefields. Along the way he has helped a lot of people with anything from trivial matters to corrupted officials, unlike most state alchemists, and as such become a bit known as a sort of a folk hero. As such his name gets recognized every now and then all over the country and corrupted officials have become wary of him.

    Kenny asked how long has it been since Ed became a state alchemist, the answer is not a spoiler, he became a state alchemist at the age of 12 (it was said in ep 2, that's why he's the youngest state alchemy in the history of his country, so no wonder why he is so famous by name), and now the brothers are 15 and 14, so Ed has been a state alchemist for somewhat 3 years. Also they were 11 and 10 when they tried to bring her mother back, so Al has been in that armor body for around 4 years

      Same with the Sins. By themselves, they're not necessarily harmful or damning (no ambition without Greed, no justice without Wrath, no children without Lust, no self-worth without Pride, and so on), but when taken to an extreme they can consume a person and ruin them.

      In my opinion the ultimate theme of FMA is that of Hubris, which is defined as "arrogance before the gods". The whole show is a lesson in humility. To me that was the ultimate lesson and the worst sin of all. Arrogance. Not pride, but arrogance. That was also Fathers greatest flaw. He removed his 7 sins but still, he was too arrogant for his own well being. Its the lesson Ed and Al encountered at the beginning, and its the lesson Ed finally learns at the end.

    I think is not like Edward doesn't believe in ´´God´´, he just doesn't believe in a God that can break natural/alchemical laws because for Ed ´´God´´ is the representation of the law of nature, He doesn't believe in a God that has motives or an individuality because the universe hasn't any of that human traits, that's the reason way for him, worshipping ´´god´´ and asking god for helps make no sense. The ´´God´´ that Edwar knows has more to be with a universal law of nature, a law or a truth that is everywhere (even inside us cause we are part of the universe) and controls everything, God is the universe itself.

      This is exactly why most mangas / animes handle politics better than many western shows. They are not preachy and are not trying to tell the audience which side is good or bad. They look at things from an outside perspective without taking side. FMA warns about the extremes of both religion and science, without picturing either side as good or bad. It's pretty much the same for Attack on Titans where the author pretty much refuses to completely vilify one side even when topic as horrible as genocide is being introduced, that is the reason why regarding who is right or wrong, fans are as divided and conflicted as the characters in this show lol. One thing you guys should know is that FMA: Brotherhood is the second version of the anime that follows the manga right to the end. The original FMA anime got to the point where they caught up to the manga and then branched off creating their own "ending" because it was taking too long to finish the chapters. However up to a certain point where the original anime was following the manga, the episodes were much more fleshed out and "crying out loud" type of emotional. You guys should check it out after FMA:Brotherhood, although I do believe Brotherhood is overall the superior show.

    This episode is disturbing.
    To answer your question, no an alchemist can’t take a bullet and transmute it as it hits them. Remember the circle rule? If they don’t have the right circle prepared or can’t react the way they need to, it’s over. State alchemists, as talented as they are, really are just regular people. They don’t have superhuman capabilities without specific conditions. Like for instance Alex Louis Armstrong. The guy was probably trained from birth to be as he is. You can’t just punch through walls unless you’ve trained to do so.
    The rules take some time to get used to. Take the Chimera. Lion, lizard, bird, all sorts of animals. It’s a mixture of body parts that don’t belong. Ed says it’s twisted because to make a creature like that, he must’ve put every animal in that beast through a LOT of pain. And it probably hurts living too. Because of equivalent exchange, you need to always work with what goes together for maximum effect. And if you don’t…well…you’ll see.
    It’s amazing as insecure as Ed and Al are about their mistakes, they still have such gigantic forces of will as to try and get someone out of a CULT mindset. These kids really are geniuses. And the BIGGEST flex of will is freaking Ed being an atheist, AFTER MEETING GOD. He knows there’s no point worshipping what he saw in the portal of truth. And it’s so cruel for any decision you make involving it, all you want is to keep your distance.

    in alchemical transmutations (in this story), the symbols / the circles are specialized depending on what transmutation you want to do, you also need it's components as ingredients. That's why you need to know the composition of your intended product, and how you want it to change.
    And it's also why doing a transmutation without needing a circle is so powerful:
    it means you can be much more versatile. Otherwise you need not only the knowledge about the transformations you want to do, and to have the ingredients in hand (like ED still need); but you also need a circle representing the specific formula for every type of transmutation you want to do.

    Btw, answering Montana you couldn't transmute a bullet into air because a lead bullet doesn't have air in it. Basically they can only use what's already there, they can't make something out the components that are not in a thing. So he could break a bullet into many smaller pieces. Or construct a statue from many bullets, but he can't turn lead into gold, or air. Not without a philosophers stone anyway

    The 2003 FMA anime really nailed the emotional line delivery for the first few episodes where Brotherhood falls a little flat. The story with Rose is fleshed out quite a bit more too.
    The two series diverge later on when the ‘03 anime went past the manga, while Brotherhood is a true-to-manga retelling. Both have their merits, but ultimately I like the first series a bit better.
    It’d be neat to see you do a comparative reaction to the two.

    • @the_crypter
      @the_crypter 2 роки тому +2

      I definitely agree about the earlier part, the Anime studio basically assumed that most people who are gonna be watching FMAB would have watched FMA already and thus wanted to skim through the parts until they diverge quickly because they felt FMA did a good job. Even though I think FMAB is overall more polished and feels more coherent as a story, I think the earlier parts in FMA were better.

    • @Renozable
      @Renozable 2 роки тому +1

      I mean big part of 2004 was made up. Even the first episode before the split (fma fmab) they added a lot of stuff that wasn’t in the manga. You know rose‘s bf as a bird abomination and so on. So i Must admit I really like the introduction here better. It’s more faithful to the source material.

    • @KorAsek453
      @KorAsek453 2 роки тому +1

      @@Renozable Saying you're whole reason for liking Brotherhood more is just because it's the same as the manga is such a narrow minded view. It's like you're arbitrarily dismissing the skill and quality of the storytelling and world building that the writers of the original anime came up with on their own, simply because it's different. Personally, I applaud the people who made the original anime for having the guts to make their own version of a core story, rather than just doing a bunch of mindless filler while they waited for the next chapter of the manga like all the other shows did at the time.
      Possible Spoilers past this point
      I don't think either one is BETTER than the other because they took such different approaches to the story after they diverged. The original sacrificed the epic scale and bombastic action set pieces in favour of a more grounded story by keeping the world building and use of alchemy more faithful to the early world building. As well as having an explanation for the Homunculi that created much more personal stakes for several characters, while also making them much more threatening. On the other hand, Brotherhood gradually but steadily veered towards a more hand wavey "because magic" approach to the world building and story telling in favour of those bombastic action set pieces and epic scale, resulting in a story vibe more like something you'd see in an Avengers movie. They also made the origins of the Homunculi, and by extension how you kill them, much simpler so they wouldn't step on the toes of the central villain.
      I think each style has their appeal and constantly comparing them is just unfair to both because both were executed wonderfully.

      The bullets would still have kinetic energy and decomposing it into smaller pieces would increase the piercing power due to the smaller surface area and make more of them, like a scatter shot. So, I think that would be far worse.
      I don’t think you can effect kinetic energy with alchemy as most of its focus is on matter, even though there is some energy usage involved, which is represented by the red or blue crackling. They later talk about where the energy comes from and kinetic is never mentioned.
      So, I highly doubt it, but who knows. Probably only the author.

      Curiosity piqued. The standard pistol Amestris uses uses a 45 caliber bullet. A typical military pistol using 45 caliber bullets in the US has a mass of 14.9, diameter of 11.5 mm, firing pressure of 140 MPa, velocity of 255 m/s, and kinetic energy of 483 J.
      So, the energy density per area would be roughly 465 J/cm^2. Skin penetration starts around 10 J/cm^2. If you don’t penetrate the skin, you should be fine. Doing the reverse and assuming the kinetic energy doesn’t change, all you need to do is increase the bullet diameter from 11.5 mm to 78.4 mm and it likely wouldn’t penetrate the skin.
      So, maybe it is possible… assuming you can react fast enough to transmute an 11.5 mm bullet coming at you at 255 m/s. I know it’s not unusual for anime character to catch or block already fired bullets, but FMAB is a bit more realistic when it comes to that kind of thing. So… probably not in FMAB unless the transmutation could be started long before near a person.

    In the Verdict, I think of the question "What kind of Alchemy you want to specialise" both of your answers were wrong.. lol
    So basically alchemy in here is the art of deconstructing a physical object with specific chemical compounds and reconstructing it with the very same chemical compounds, you need to know from what shape to what shape you want it to change, but can't change the ingredients. So basically to specialise in alchemy you need to be knowledgeable of the chemicals of the object and to be familiar of the shape you want as a result.
    Sooo tech alchemy is kinda hard and in the same way useless, if you need specific ingredients to make a certain machine. You won't be able to find them all the time and why would you need to alchemy-ing a machine to do something, when you can use alchemy as machine to do the job that you want the machine to do. As well you need to know the exact shape of what you are reconstructing.
    And for plant alchemy.. so yeah its part of the taboo thing, organic alchemy is not easy. Again, the ingredients thing is kinda questionable, you can't make from absolutely same chemicals every plant, and not to mention the shape in here. That's why reconstructing a plant, gonna end it dead, unnatural shape, almost 99% of the time.
