  • Lesson on Celiac Disease (and Gluten Sensitivity) and related health effects (including skin lesions, osteoporosis, infertility etc.), along with risk factors (genetics), pathogenesis (autoimmune), symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Celiac disease is an autoimmune gastrointestinal disease that leads to inflammation and destruction of intestinal villi and microvilli, ultimately leading to malabsorption. Diagnosis involves checking for serum autoantibodies along with small bowel biopsy, and treatment involves strict dietary adherences.

    When i was diagnosed with celiac, I was overweight, and always severely constipated, since I could eat solids. It took 30 years to get a diagnosis, after many misdiagnosis through my life. I was laughed at my doctors when I was 4 years old, they asked my mother if she knew what was causing my constipation, I said it was bread that does it. They laughed and one said “ don’t be silly, bread can’t do that to you”. So after that comment by that doctor, I never told my mother what was wrong with me. I got by not eating or wanting any sandwiches or desserts. As soon as I turned an adult I finally got a diagnosis, I went 100% gluten free and never wanted to see another doctor again.

Everything above 0,02 g (a grain of sand of gluten) is causing an autoimun reaction in the body. My girl friend has celiac and she eats zero gluten for now 2 years. She ate by mistake something which was prepared on a gluten contaminated wood plate and directly the number of antibody from her blood test increased from 50 to 1000+ (Everything below 50 is ok). Thats why celiac people can not eat in restaurants if there is a risk of contamination. Its not like lactose intolerance or a nut allergy. It doesnt matter is you consume 0,02 g or 1 kg of gluten. The antibody reaction is the same. Not the gluten is causing the problems, the antibody reaction caused by gluten is the problem

These properties deal with the pain in abdomen, loss of appetite, indigestion, & improve overall digestion. PTH high and VitD extremely low with Normocalcemic levels. I was thinking calcium would present as normal in the presence of height PTH later on in a Celiac related deficiency, no? Due to the body wanting to break down the bone to create more calcium levels in the blood? But then even later it can no longer keep up and therefore blood levels of calcium decrease again?
    Also, many people with celiac are actually overweight because the malabsorption makes them feel hungry constantly so they often over-eat and eat calorically dense foods? And I’ve read that some celiac patients have alternating diarrhea and constipation because the intestine absorbs more water due to digesting foods in the colon that were left undigested higher up. -creating constipation due to dehydration?

    Another symptoms involves the teeth: they are noticeably darker and can have spots on them (my top front teeth both had white circles on them), they can decay differently (I have had 3 rot from the inside out and so don’t show as bad on X-rays), they get deep cavities more easily and quickly, and just get infected easily. Half my mouth has crowns or bridges, including those front teeths’ enamel that actually slivered off by layers (once when I was eating a nectarine).

    I disagree, its a neurological autoimmune condition. Most often in conjunction with blood mutation MTHFR which increases malnutrition and vitamin and mineral deficiencies as well as de-myelization of the myelin sheath around all the nerves in our bodies. Often Celiac's are overweight due to a lack of metabolic function and constipated, not always suffering from diarrhea..

      @DD-co1zn 2 місяці тому

      'as long as it hasn't been handled in the same mill etc' ... Good luck trying to verify that, even when the packaging suggests it - there's a lot of overlap in the supply chain of all those grains. As well as that, co morbidities occur with celiac, oat sensitivity can be one of those things. You're just better off not risking it, but common wisdom suggests that going gluten free - including oats - for a long, long time (a couple of years) - is a good idea before introducing a 'trusted' source of oats in small doses, if you really must, and see how you get on.

      Hi. My endoscopy and blood work all negative. But I have many of the symptoms. My biggest complaint is swollen belly and stomach. So I took it upon myself to begin a gluten free and dairy free diet. No improvement either. And I’m being very strict diet

      Had to remove all grains and dairy and sugar to start to feel relief...not just gluten.

    Should I be concerned or just continue?!

      @@hotbuttered7711 No...but I don't think that I have *celiac* ...Because I moved in another country for like 3 months now and I can eat bread without issues...
      I watched some other videos on YT and I think that I had/have some mold infection... because that doctor on YT said that usually people with mold infections get much better very fast after they stopped eating foods that get moldy very fast...like grains.
      I had/have mold in the room where I spent a lot of time in the last year (i was basically a hikikomori)...but I also had/have mold in that wood thingy...where you keep the bread.

      Dang. That's good you figured it out. Took me years. I ended up being diagnosed with ciliacs disease. It's much more serious than most people think. It can lead to a shorter life expectancy. Have you thought about getting the blood tests for it?

    Every celiac should give hookworms a try.

  • @DD-co1zn

    You need to update your reading on celiac ... There's more people overweight than underweight when diagnosed. Pushing this out dated idea about being underweight (with no caveat or qualifier) will give false confidence to overweight and as yet undiagnosed celiacs.
