Mesh Analysis for Circuits Explained

  • This tutorial introduces Mesh Analysis and explains how to use it to solve unknowns in circuits. I find it helpful to label on unknown branch currents before starting the problem, and then substituting the mesh currents in later. This reduces the chance of getting some terms with the wrong sign, but is not a necessary step, as most books will skip that part. Mesh analysis can be used to solve circuits with multiple loops, and in a later video, we'll go over some examples of supermesh analysis as well (we need to do that if there is a current source between two mesh currents).
    This video is part of a full free course on electric circuits. The course covers DC circuits, circuit laws, current & voltage sources, series & parallel resistors, nodal analysis, mesh analysis, and AC circuits.

    Thanks mate, the way you showed to list all the currents first then putting in terms of loop currents makes alot of sense

      Mesh analysis is a way to solve circuits USING Kirchoff's loop law. Technically, you are just using the loop law but the whole procedure that you do in this video is called mesh analysis because its commonly used method

    uhm why the voltage in kvl become - sign ?

    • @Tclack
      @Tclack 2 роки тому +1

      It looks like he was using the node he was entering to determine the sign. Because not only was the voltage switched when passing through the battery, but the voltage rose through the resistors. It's ASC (as opposed to the more common PSC), and it came out of left field, but I suppose if applied consistently, it's fine. But I agree, it's not my go to.

      Simply because he used the sign convention that if you go from - to +, which you encounter the negative sign first, you treat it as negative. And if you go from + to -, like on resistors, you treat it as positive.
