Great video and thanks for the Protune settings for underwater footage. Now I'm ready to dive with my new GoPro HERO 8 Black.
Hi and thank you ! I'm glad that you can use the Protune settings for going underwater with your new GoPro 8. I wish you great shots and big encounters !
Great and helpful comparison between both gopros
Thanks Chris 😊 I tried my best with this GoPro 7 vs 8 comparison video. You know it, that's not really my world, but hey I think it's watchable. Warm regards and see you soon 🙂
Wow great !!! that is one of the best comparison underwater video for GoPro 7 and 8 i have seen so far. I looked for a Video where can i see the best settings of the GoPro 8 for underwater footage and I find them ! Thanks !
Hi and thanks a lot 😊 ! I tried my best to cover the differences of the GoPro 7 and GoPro HERO 8 Black for underwater footage. Don't forget : You have to edit the footage when you film with these Protune settings !
Thanks mate! Great video
Thank you! Like so often...just an experiment 😆😅 I'm glad that you like it 😊
Great video! Thank you. Already subscribed.
Thanks a lot, man of drones 🤘 !
Great video! I love the sharpness improvement in the footage of the GoPro HERO8. I use the same Protune settings. Wasn't sure about upgrading from my HERO7 Black, but now I may. 😀👍
Thanks Tony 😊 ! The GoPro Hero 8 Black is really worth the upgrade ! The sharpness improvement is really a significant fact. I also love to film in 4k 60fps linear in future 👌 These Protune settings are very common and a good setting for the most conditions underwater. See you and thanks for your visit 👊
@@DiveDiscover Going to purchase the HERO8 Black this week. What do you protect the camera lens with since it's not replaceable and difficult shape for standard lens covers? 🤔
@@thetoneman Hi Tony 🙂 I always use the original GoPro underwater housing for snorkeling and scuba diving. For land-footage I also have to look for a solution. I think the "Rollcage" could be mine in the future 😉 Warm regards and see you soon...
Thanks for that comparison video, Bruno
You're welcome 🙂 And? Buying a GoPro 8 now 😅?
@@DiveDiscover no, I just got the panasonic Gh5 😉
Absolutely professionell 👍
Nice comparison of the the GoPro 7 vs 8. I'm considering buying one of these two cameras and as far as I'm concerned, I think both cameras do a great job with the underwater footage. I never tried out protune, but I#m definitely going ot give it a shot :) The footage of the eagle ray was very cool by the way. Great video, thumbs up
Hi and thanks a lot ! I recommend you to go for the GoPro HERO 8 Black for underwater footage. The sharpness is so important to get really good shots. Yes, give it a try...the Protune mode opens doors to completely different possibilities. Use the Protune settings I mentioned in the video and take some shots. Post production isn't so hard like you may think...
@@DiveDiscover Thanks for the recommendation :)
Looks great!
Hi Hugo 🙂 , and yes the GoPro 8 works really well underwater 😊
@@DiveDiscover I agree! Ive been using mine for 6 months now. made a little video of my tips & tricks here: ua-cam.com/video/NahCa_ayj60/v-deo.html
Question, do you use any filters (orange or magenta) over your lens while shooting, or do you simply correct color later in your edit? Thank you.
Hi Kevin, I don't use any filters. Like you said: it's all done with color correction in the edit. Every filter sucks useful light...that's a big problem with a small sensor of a GoPro.
Beautiful video capture of the turtle! Nice comparisons. Well done, my friend 👍. BTW< I have a new video you will enjoy. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀.
nice video, very helpfull! thumbs up! I read that u don't use filters. Is this only while snorkeling? Should I use a filter when I dive at 30m or is it better not to use one and to edit after? I tho a red filter gives u the option to collor correct the red afterwards? What program do u use to edit?
Do u use divelights? I see the protune 100-400 max iso, what if its dark like at 30m or greenish bad vis water? sometimes when i filmed with my 3+ black i got good video and sometimes it was grainy or noisy or how do u call it ?? ( u could see the pixels ) and i don't know why :/ sorry for the many questions I just want to have the same quality as your vid it's amazing!
Hi Thomas, thanks a lot 🙏😊 I'm very glad that you did understand my English 😆😅 Seriously: Was it hard to understand it? To your questions: since my vacation in the Maldives I don't use red-filters anymore. The visibilty was so sad (scuba diving was like in a snow blizzard) and I decided to edit the GoPro footage without using a filter. The best decisson I have ever made. It's for sure not an easy game but it's worth it. A red-filter swallows light, useful light. That's a big problem with a small sensor of a GoPro. If you go for editing your videos and having better GoPro-footage: forget your red-filter. I use Magix for editing my videos. Not the best software but I can handle it. It's not about the software itself. You have to learn the software. Many programs doing a great job in that. I use a single videolight with 3000lm for close-up's (0,5-1,5m) The footage becomes grainy when you set the ISO above 400. That's a fact...800 and you will have grainy underwater footage. I hope I have it all 🙂 No problem with your questions, if there is someone who can really understand you: then it's me 😉🙂
@Dive&Discover Thanks for the response! your english is perfect! I will look into magix and use the same settings as u ! :D
Hi is there a super suit case that goes with the hero eight that also can fit the polar lens divemaster kit???? Thanks great channel bro!!!
Hi Harris and thanks too man! The polar lens divemaster kit fits to the housing for the Hero 8. You need the housing (original GoPro or equal) and the filters for the GoPro 8. You can't use filters for the GoPro 7 with a housing for the GoPro 8...if that is your question.
Dive&Discover Thank you so much for your reply you are very knowledgeable
Do you use a special housing or just the camera direct?
Hi George, I always use a housing for the Gopro underwater, even for snorkeling, because of the saltwater. The original housing from Gopro is a very good choice.
I have the hero 7 and love it. I really like some of the new features of the hero 8...but i don’t like that they got rid of the removable lens cover! Such a bad decision for an action cam!
Hi and I absolutely agree. The GoPro HERO 8 Black should have a removable lens cover. That can cause big problems in future, but the quality of underwater footage is really much better 👌
