  • I've had fun dying to bosses like Margit the Fel, Glintstone Dragon Smarag and Queen Rennala, but the Misbegotten Warrior and Crucible Knight was different.

This fight is one of the hardest in the game from mechanical standpoint. Both bosses have "punish drinking flask" move and they use it often. Also both of them have greatswords staggering most tarnished. There is one thing that is very helpful during this fight - critical hits. Parry or use ash of war that is focused around heavy poise damage like giants hunt or piercing fang. During critical hit animation our character is untagetable what helps against shananigans of the boss currently not attacked.

Yes, this is DPS check like any enemy in the game, like in almost any open world game (if you are not guy that beats souls games by lvl1 char). If you see that your hits just scratch enemy’s hp bar, just go lvl and gear up. You know it takes a few hours to reach final boss of Elden Ring. But it obviously requires leveling and gearing up running across all the map collecting weapons and talismans for your build. Don’t say “this fight is op, undying boss, etc”, kill other bosses and come back later.

It’s like running t16 maps right after act 10. You’ll get a lot more fun from the game doing things right

It's kinda a DPS check. You can usually more or less kill the misbegotten before the crucible knight engages. And then it's "just" a crucible knight fight. ie, hard, but there are so many of these you eventually learn how to fight them without much issue. A couple of them are hard because of a tight arena though.
And IMO the crucible knights get easier under 50% because they start using attacks with a free punish/heal. Before then they tend to be able to punish a heal from a lot farther away than it seems.
And those harder tight arena ones tend to go flying off the edge.

This fight is kinda weird, because the game probably expect you to have fought both of those boss alone first, as they occur alone each in different places in Limgraves. But I don't think you got to them in this playthrough.
Crucible Knight is famous for being probably the hardest boss to be found in Limgraves actually. Without saying too much, he's the boss that exist to teach you about Parry.
This duo fight, it's more of a DPS race. It's a fight testing your build on how efficient it can kill a boss. It's actually very common for people to do it way higher level than what you did, because.. lets say, it's not available all the time, the Redmane Castle changes depending on some things.

Yeah I never encountered a Crucible Knight in Limgrave, I believe my first solo fight was one with a mace in Leyndell which I did after this fight.

I got help in the original DS1 for O+S. This is because I didn't git gud yet on my first game. And as such was using a guide to some extent. And therefore wanted a particular item from that fight and while I was struggling with them, I was REALLY struggling at killing them in the order that I needed to to get the item I wanted.
I struggled a lot with about 4 Sekiro bosses. But there's usually nothing to do besides git gud there. One thing I found that really helped was just... taking a break. I was stuck on one boss for about a week because I just played it for an hour or so every couple days until the urge to win returned again and I put in the time to get past it.
DS bosses and Elden Ring I've never summoned player help again. But I've used some other questionable tactics. Usually I just go level up a little bit though. I feel a lot better summoning NPCs (and ashes) for gank battles though. I don't really feel guilty to even up a 2v1. The large number of gank fights in Elden Ring seems like ashes are meant to be a normal part of combat, though a few of them are a bit OP as should be expected.

On my first play through, morgott was impossible for me, so I cheesed him with mimic tear, I have now beat all bosses without summons out of spite

Your Vigor stat called, it feels neglected.
I don't know how experienced you actually are with the game or Dark Souls/Bloodborne, but Elden Ring is generally regarded as a somewhat Vigor heavy game. Especially if you're not super experienced, you're gonna take hits.
If low Vigor is more fun for you obv stick with it, but just wanted to let you know, HP is very worth investing in.

I've played quite a few of the Souls titles, wouldn't say I'm great at them but I've found the difficulty in Elden Ring comfortable so far (this being the one exception). I tend to go 1:1 for awhile Vig to damage stats. Which is also what I did here, I had 32 Vig in the video (approx L60), I'm at 35 now (L69).

This video sums up perfectly why I want to play these games but don't because I know I will detest them. In my old age I don't have the patience to waste 2 hours of my life learning a boss' attacks. I need a filthy casual mod that gimps the difficulty just so I can wander around for a while and see the world.

Just play them. They are harsh, but fair. When you die it's almost always very clear exactly what you did wrong.
Elden Ring is open world. You never have to fight anything until pretty much the end game. If it's too hard, you just go somewhere else and get stronger. And this one puts a savepoint right outside almost every boss. If you actually do everything available you will always be super overleveled because the game assumes you are more or less just hitting the main areas. And there are a plethora of cheezy options available to get past the end if necessary.

Also for a bit of context. I've spent ~50h playing Elden Ring so far, explored multiple areas, killed several major bosses etc. I've only gotten stuck for a couple hours 3 times so far in that whole experience, and in each case I could have summoned for help or come back when I was higher level. Elden Ring gives you a lot of choice to control difficulty.

You can summon spirits ("ghosts" of monsters in game) to fight on your side making every fight 5 x easier. You can upgrade your favorite ones ect. This lowers difficulty of the game.

Also, not to backseat too much... but... just pretend this is PoE. You're running like a 600 life build in act 4 here.
That's going to impact your ability to have fun.
