Gotta love the Herbie cameo. This specific car was used in Herbie Goes Bananas and the 1982 Herbie, the Love Bug television show. This, I think, was the last time a car from the show was ever seen. The reason only the blue stripe is visible is because it's the only graphic that was painted, but you can see the yellowed remnants of the other stripes and 53s. You can also see the custom seats, and even the Disney added clock on the dashboard. Also cool that Herbie Goes Bananas star Elyssa Davalos is in this episode too, I really wonder if she was even aware of the fact that Herbie is near her (in a Universal production, too).
Yeah certainly not the fastest way to get out of the parking lot but the studio wanted to demonstrate to the viewer that KITT was hot and thus used their 350 car to intentionally roast the tires like a boss so we wouldn't think KITT was inferior to the Porsche. That was indeed a hot car and that stunt driver handled it like a pro. love this scene
Yep that’s the best part in this scene; the engine start-up and burnouts all in the cars original sounds - no engine and screeching tyre edits here like most scenes.
I always get a chuckle out of this episode. When Michael walks in the store, he fails to hold the door open for the lady with her baby carriage. I know you're on a mission, but come on man, be polite! :P

I was expecting KITT to simply smash the bad guy with his door, when he shot that other guy right next to him, but he just closed the window. He should have been more proactive lol!
The 1982-1984 Trans Ams were and still are to this day Genius in Design and the most Aerodynamic Firebird Ever Made. Certainly the weakest in terms of Engines but they made up for it by designing the Most Low Drag Coefficient 0.29 Firebird Ever. And that is what matters because you can drop a Modern engine in these Trans Ams and have it be faster than the Porsche. And I've seen a 2002 LS1 Trans Am engine dropped in an 83 Trans Am Kitt Replica. With a Cam and Ported Heads, the car went from having a stock carbureted chevy 305ci making 145hp and 240 torque to a fuel injected 400hp 400 torque 5.7
I like how KITT has a built-in camera system with the clarity of a movie and at 1:58, his camera shows his own car from far away on the left of the screen. Very bad editing which is a common trait of this show. Very obvious that the supposed "camera" on KITT is just film crew footage acting as the eyes of people or machines in movies, especially when there's binoculars. Also at 3:46, KITT's got some front end damage even before bumping into the dump truck.
Would have been epic if they put it into the show... KITT actually crashing into a random truck by accident. Then should be Devond with his Pikatchu face; 'Michael, your incompetence is getting out of control! How could you have collided a car with anti-collision system into and dump truck?!'
2:30 - Notice: that KITT is the stunt car built with the crate motor and the limited slip rear end for burnouts. Most of the Crossfire V8 equipped Trans Ams couldn't perform that well.
Yup. In the first episodes done by Glen Larson, it was said and shown that KITT had rocket thrusters which he could use to launch into high speed instantly. This ability was used though the show, with the sound effect but without mentioning the function, but in many scenes such as these, KITT is strangely unable to use them.
Could have left the cop out of the video completely and lost nothing. --- I'd also like to know about the production history of this episode. Notice the dog in the back of the two-door car at 1:29 and how it's gone, without sight or sound of it anywhere, by 1:33? I've seen the whole episode and the video of the dog in the car definitely feels like a reshoot after a script change. I may be wrong but that's my take on it.
@@cloudkitt Yeah, but did you forget about the part where Sugar is the lady's seeing-eye dog? Dogs that assist the blind are well-trained, obedient and loyal. They don't run wild or take off and chase squirrels or cars. If this wasn't due to a script rewrite then it was poorly thought-out when it was written. It hits the points the episode needs it to to get it from beginning to end but it still looks sloppy upon a second look.

That was almost certainly their 350 powered stunt car, and probably with a TH350 transmission. Pontiac didn't offer 5.7 liter until 1987 but it was common practice for Hollywood to swap out factory engines with carbed 350s in lots of shows and movies. Apparently the crews like them for simplicity and power. They were cheap and easy to work on. You'd be surprised how many cars in film used carbureted 350s, even foreign cars
During the chase scene you can see another the Porsche and another KITT car (probably the car used for interior shots) parked on the side of the road with the crew and their vehicles. Another KITT car can be seen again with the School Bus while a stuntman performed the emergency stop in front of the dump truck. Another thing I have noticed is that the stunt car they used for that scene had damages on its front bumper and driver side front fender which was probably caused by previous attempts. Looks like they used a rope to prevent the car from crashing on the truck.
Yeah they did some type of rigging in that stunt. You are right cars do not bounce back from a sliding stop like that. KITT didn't hit the truck but pulled back afterward anyway with some force pulling it from behind. It would be neat to find out exactly how they pulled that off.
I noticed Michael didn’t hold the door open for the lady exiting the mall with the pram lol

Vin Petrol hey! WhAts up!
Vin Petrol very well noticed
Those are not damages. Those are the rubber exterior so that unsuccessful attempts won't damage the front bumper
Super😆😆😆😆😄😄😁😁😇😇😇
I wonder if the actual car in the show had the factory 305 or a swapped 350.
High Speed Pursuit &...K.I.T.T.!!...
If you actually go back and watch the whole episode the guy was actually be looking for his golden retriever dog that got out of the car
1:12 Classy Effer isn't he? LOL
All that tire spinning and going nowhere fast. hahaha
That P car woulda destroyed that trans am too... just sayin...
2.35 they forgot to edit in the usual ssssshhhh engine whine. All we got was a v8
There was no kids inside that school bus
Everyone was running the redlight too
When Micheal slams on the brakes it doesn't look right almost like something was pulling the vehicle back, cars don't stop like that
Not almost. He quite a few inches back..good catch
Yeah they did some type of rigging in that stunt. You are right cars do not bounce back from a sliding stop like that. KITT didn't hit the truck but pulled back afterward anyway with some force pulling it from behind. It would be neat to find out exactly how they pulled that off.
