Looks like a fine shelter and bivy bag system. Learned to use one like that called a Ranger bag (after the US Army Rangers) made from a military poncho and a poncho liner. Not as fancy as yours but i really like the size of yours but not the cost. I think I will try making another one with a cheap reflective tarp and a newer USMC poncho liner. Thanks for all the good ideas and outstanding quality of your videos! Tschuss!
Dear Taro, any of your videos is always a great source of inspiration. You always explain anything perfectly and you always shoot beautiful videos and yes, i do agree, that scenery in that weather condition, it's real luxury! So happy to see you again, wish you the best!
So happy to see you again my friend. I cant tell how much I enjoy your outings. Its as if I can fell the snow and smell the smoke. Its takes me away from the rat race, if only for a few moments. Thanks!
Its a very good idea to have 2 sides ( wings ) connected by zippers to increase the reflection of heat back to your tent ! I would modified my tarp with 2 side-wings by zippers .... Thanks for sharing and Happy Camping !
nice video Taro, I love your channel because you see that you like doing what you do, you can read it in your eyes. Thanks for sharing, greetings from Italy! Omar
You are using high end quality products in this video, and they all complete each other in a very coherent way. Its of course matching your experience and your outdoor knowledge.. I know you have access to a lot of possible tools and products, but I do appreciate that you pick up things in such a coherent way to show a possible formula, a good receipt, and this combination is very inspiring I think. At the end its not about this or that product or tool, but the coherence of the all system sleeping, eating, sheltering, processing wood, and your own knowledge .. and in that matter you are offering here a very well balanced recept that is very inspiring and enjoyable to watch. I do think the bush box will fit my system perfectly :) Take care my friend
Thanks for this very kind comment my friend, you’re right, I’m not the man who is doing product reviews, but there are some gear I like and I know about the quality, in many cases I know the producer personally, but good gear without knowing how to use it the right way under different circumstances is the key, thanks again, wish you a great week, Taro
Ah. When you were first laying down to sleep I thought to myself, that sleep system is way too light for winter in Switzerland. But after seeing you explain that the Fjellduken is actually a bivouac shelter, I was very impressed. I especially like its width, as I have rather wide shoulders. Looks interesting
Jedes einzelne Video vo dir isch de Hammer!! Beste Dank für dini super Film! Bin jedes Mal wider gspannt was du bringsch! Danke nomal und keep it going!!
This is the kind of video that makes (and has made) your channel so very good! Plenty of great scenery, interesting information and a guy having a pleasant time in nature in spite of, and because of, the weather conditions! I hope you realize that you have a unique ability to teach and inspire lots of folks to enjoy being out in nature and having a good time. It's a gift and you must never ignore it or take it for granted. Keep up the wonderful work.
A great test of the bushbox xl, I've used mine as a personal space heater on several cold camps, it would perform even better with that tarp setup.....
@@Taromovies I was wondering if a space blanket on the far side, against your anchor tree, would reflect even more of the 360 degrees of heat generated.
Great test. I tried something similar with the 5" Firebox Stove inside my DIY tarp tipi. It raised the temp a lot. Almost 30F warmer in the shelter. But you have to constantly feed such a small fire and the heat isn't at ground level. I really like that tarp you were using. Looks like the perfect winter shelter for a small fire in front.
Hi Taro, nice system for the cold. The Jerven Bag has been on my list for a while, too. It must be a very good and reliable item. Also tarps with reflective cover are very interesting with open fires. Besten Dank & viele Grüße, Tim
@@Taromovies The Snowy Mountains are in New South Wales. I go south of there in the Victorian Alps or High Country. Only a month to go until the snow comes. Winter here is 1 June to 31 August
Thanks for watching and your feedback, yes for sure, in this case a was very close to the tarp so I build the fire slowly up for better control, all the best Taro
Very nice video. Just got back myself and had freezing rain to play in. Like that tarp. Haven't seen one like that here in the states. Love my stick stove too. Thanks for another great video and take care, Al
Brother Taro...Nicely done! Watching your videos is always a bush craft lesson. I enjoy watching and appreciate your efforts. See ya next time...BTW the eggs and bacon smelled great!

Yes Bjorn, in winter the jerven is a extra life insurance, thank for watching my friend!
Hi Taro, tolle Aufbauvariante!! Freut mich dass das Pedduk Dich begleiten durfte! LG, Uli
Klasse das es Dir gefällt, das Pedduk System ist wirklich gut durchdacht! Wünsche Dir / Euch ein schönes Wochenende, LG Taro
Great idea with that tarp system. I made something similar out of house insulation and use my candle lantern inside for extra warmth during the night.
Also a good method Michael, thanks for watching
Absolutely wonderful! Every video you post is a delight to watch. Thanks once again.
Thanks so much!
