Massive Town House for Wargaming Terrain 🏆
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- Wargaming terrain comes in all shapes and sizes. This time my wargaming terrain piece came in the massive size category. I decided against better judgement to make a four-story town house for my wargaming terrain needs! In order to facilitate all kinds of wargaming specifics I made this terrain piece somewhat modular. All of the floors can be removed individually and I made a tile for the cellar. Most things are made of XPS foam which I received from The Army Painter.

Well I think I have screwed the pooch now! Getting strange phone calls from the UA-cam algorithm. I swear I recognize the voice but I can't recall from where. Anyways, I hope you good folks like my latest build. I tried my very best to push myself as a crafter and I am happy with the end result. What do you think? Please tell me in the comment section below! Stay safe and lots of love to you all! 👍💙💛💙
@tigershadow1 Thank you kindly Tigershadow1! 👍😊
So beautiful. Amazing textures and a really solid design. Plus those colors!!!
Thank you so much Brent! Glad you like it man! 👍😊
@Goobertown Hobbies@@DevsDice Don't listen to this man Leif I am the real Brent not him!
That roof is flipping gorgeous!
Thank you so much Doug! Glad you like it! 👍😊
I shall feed the algorythm just for that great intro taken from... taken... that sounded better in my head. Great work!
Hahahaha! Thank you so much Picassawi! 👍😂
I wish I could double like the video, because this build is amazing!!!!
Hahaha! Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 👍💙💛💙
I can't even think of a bad pun for this one Leif! Just incredible work. I think my favorite detail is the shit chute for some reason. I think it's an understandably ignored detail of most builds for obvious reasons but I like that it exists. I love the playability of all the floors! Really well thought out and excellent work.
Oh my! This is a surprise my dear Brent! Yeah the shit chute also provides players a risky way to climb up if they want to engage in some suspicious activity! Thanks as always for your support and nice comments man! I really appreciate it! 👍💙💛💙
Love it! I think the word you were looking for for the slope at the bottom is a "ramp", but we knew what you meant :D
Hahahahaha! Of course. Ironic that it's the same word in Swedish! Hahah! Brainfarts! Thanks theHiddenStone! 👍🤣
What a amazing roof, great job.
Thank you very much Neo! 👍😃
Well worth the 3 week wait!! I was very close to checking on you via Facebook! Looks like you were just busy kicking ass on that build.
Hahaha! Thank you and yeah sorry for that. A couple of curveballs in life and projects! This one was actually done last week! 🤣 Thank you for the nice comment! 👍💙💛💙
Gorgeous house!
Cheers Matt! Happy you like it! 👍😁
Beautiful build. So much detail and I love the asymmetry. Thank you for all the helpful tips
Thank you so much Adam! Glad you liked it! 👍😊
Nice colours. Definitely the roof is the best part of this building, also the aging of the walls :)
Thank you so much Marcin! I agree with the walls and the roof! I will have to look more into the timbers, thinking of trying to make something more ramshackle with old wood. Introducing some grey tones to it perhaps. We shall see! Thanks for the comment! 👍🙂
Spectacular!
Thank you so much Steven! Happy you liked it! 👍🙂
Amazing! Makes me want to get a hot wire.
That is a good investment Shane if you are looking to make foam terrain! 👍😊 I very much recommend the Proxxon! 👍
Hi Leif 😉
Holy Macaroni 🤯👍
The House is amazing, it looks so cool.
I think i can learn a lot from you.
My Hobby is modelling vehicles from WW2...
I try to start someday with dioramas...
Thanks for the Video
Greetings from Germany 🤘😂👍
Hahahaha! Thank you so very much Hugo! Happy you like it! It is to date my most ambitious build I would say, at least "man-made"-build. WW2 vehicles sounds awesome! They really lend themselves well for dioramas and such. I haven't gone down that path yet but one day for sure! Hello back to you from Sweden! 👍💙💛💙
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Thank you kindly Spencer! 👍🙂
Another great build! Well done Sir!
Thank you so much Ken! Yeah that one is my largest by far! 🤣👍
Beautiful!
Thank you so much John! 👍😊
Love your builds and sense of humour 🤣👍 can you tell me what the glamour shots music is at the end please? Very stirring 🤘
Thank you so much Christan! Of course, it's Niklas Johansson - Call of the North! 👍😊
I’ve been wanting to make a build like this and I’m so glad to find this video
That's awesome Stefanie! I plan on doing some more town houses, in fact my "grand plan" is to make enough to call it a town! Thanks for the nice comment! 👍😊
Great work as always! Really impressed!
Thank you so much Niklas! Glad I could impress you man! 👍😁
Amazing
Thank you kindly Edwin! 👍💙💛💙
This build came out really nice. Is it just my phone, or is this video kind of dark?
I don't think so, I think some bits might be a bit dark but should be visible in general! Thanks! 👍🙂
Why do you bother with texturing the "wood" under the roof before you cover it with shingles? - Just curious.
That's an excellent question Fourkay Minimaster! When adding shingles, I purposefully leave some spots exposed which gives it a nice more ramshackle feel and since I haven't decided these spots beforehand, I might as well texture the entire roof! 🤣 Does that make sense? 👍🙂
Skitsnyggt! Kanon kanal!
Tack så mycket! Kul att du gillar den! 👍😊
That youtube algorithm sounds terrifying!
Hahaha! It is! I can't put my finger on it but I am sure I recognize the voice! 🤣👍
@@DevsDice hahaha
Man, I'd sell my own house to get my hands on this house!
Epic build as per usual, Leif!
Glad you like it but I am sure your house is worth a lot more Niels! 🤣👍
Beautiful craft... some excellent techniques and that advice at 6:30 ..... priceless. Oh... that intro was so good haha.
Thank you so much John! Yeah that is something to try to always remember for me! 🤣 Glad you liked the intro! I usually have skits in the beginning of my videos since, well a long time! 👍😂
As foretold by the Ancients…behold the manor of destiny!!!!
Hahaha! Not sure it deserves that sort of shout out but I will take it! Thanks Blake! 👍💙💛💙
Turned out great!
Oh hey Knarb! Thanks man! Glad you liked it! 👍😊
Great build Leif :) I will hang out in the final result section of your video purely to enjoy the viking metal mood 😄
Thank you kindly dear Sir! 👍💙💛💙
Late to your channel, but omg it has been game changing for me and my extremely novice terrain making abilities. Thank you Leif!! ❤️❤️❤️
Great to hear that my videos are useful! My pleasure! 👍💙💛💙
HOLY WOW.
Haha! Thanks Lyla but you know as much as I do that there was nothing holy about this heathen creation! It was thanks to the old norse gods! Right? Give Cardamom a hug from me! 😊👍
Hi friend 👋 To be honest I haven’t had a chance to watch one of your videos in awhile (so many YT friends so little time 😅) but I’m so glad I clicked on this one!!! Intro was great and your production quality has gotten SO GOOD! And of course your build was spectacular! Great work and can’t wait to see what you do next 🤗
Hey Raquel! No worries! I totally understand that! So many friends but so little time indeed! 😂👍 Thank you so much for the nice comment! 🤘💙💛💙
@@DevsDice you’re so welcome! 💙🙂💙
Saw you were watching the Denmark game from the euros! Nice to see another soccer fan and crafter! Get well soon Ericksen.
Oh yes man! It was the England - Denmark game. I have played soccer/football for 12 years as a young boy and it is close to my heart! Indeed, that Euro had a terrible start! Thankfully it seems like he is on the mend! 👍💖🤍💖
@@DevsDice that is awesome! I’m an absolute soccer fanatic and I currently play for a local youth club. You don’t get too much overlap between these communities, but I’m glad that there are others out there. Love your vids!
I love you intros and that one was soooooo good... brilliant 🤣🤣🤣🤣... build...as usual....was pretty amazing aswell. 😁👍
Thank you so much Mark! That makes me really happy to hear! 👍💙😊
But what can I do? I know, ill make a four story town house.
That's what I think when someone threatens me too.
Hahahaha! The trail of logic isn't exactly well...logical! 👍🤣
@@DevsDice Well, who knows. Maybe in some long forgotten place. A long long time ago.
This is amazing. Algorithm can’t ignore......oh wait, it’s UA-cam so it probably will.
Only time will tell Sean! Hoping for the best! Thansk for the nice comment! 👍💙💛💙
Leif, you've been "Taken"! That wasn't Liam Neeson on the phone! You've also been ripped off by Garman at Storycraft Society! LOL. But I bet you already know both of these things! Excellent build excellent video my friend! One thumbs up because stupid tube won't let us give you 2 or more! Netflix recently added a feature where you can mark a movie with "Like" or "Love" Why can't youtube do the same? I guess that we'll just have to pretend that they have a "Loved it" thumb on here until they actually do! So........ "Loved It!"
Hahaha! True that! It was just my impersonation of Mr Neeson! 👍😂 Yeah I did see that and it was a wonderful video! 👍😊
Fantastic work, my fellow Scandinavian!! You deserve so much more subscribers! 🙏🏼😊 I’m going straight to your Patreon and joining. 🤘🏼
That's amazing! Thank you so much for saying so my Viking kin! 👍🤘🙂
Amazing! Loved the intro :D The level of detail and love you put into this build! Shitshute!! Fantastiskt!
I hereby request a wizardtower! :)
Cheers Ovis and what a wonderful idea! 😉
After a year of hesitation... I'm building this little sucker now. I'm just gonna do it! Thanks for a fantastic tutorial.
Oh Niklas, I have seen your crafts man! You can do this! You know where to ping me if you need any help! 👍💙💛💙
Suddenly a thumbnail of an epic house showed up in my feed. Never before seen or heard of this channel. But heck, you just gained yourself a subscriber! And now I've got an entire backlog of videos to watch :D Carry on, amazing work!
Well that's awesome Magnus! Welcome to the channel and thanks a million for the sub! 👍🙂
hey great gaint hous if got a ide you hevnt dun on the channel try makeing a skeleton/ghost ship but dont make it see tru make it look like it sunk in battle holes evry where broken mast and sum broken cannons
I like GAINT houses too
Sounds like a great idea but we will see. Getting more and more busy! 🤣👍
People that cannot hit a like button and say literally one keystroke in the comments are lazy and theyre parents were Snotlings
Hahahahaha! Thank you so much for that comment! 👍😂
Liked the video after watching the intro only. You, sir, are a trip!
The end result is so good. I’m going through a blue phase and the roof is spectacular.
Thank you so much Sir! Happy you like the video and the end result! 👍🙂
Found this channel yesterday as I was looking at how to build mordheim terrain and you're very talented! Looking forward to see more in the future.
Welcome to the channel Tim Young and thank you so much for your kind words! 👍💙💛💙
Stunning. Love the playability... and the window boxes.
Thank you so much A Jones! Glad you like it! 👍😊
My man.. this is a brilliant build, you just keep smashing it .by far your greatest creation. As always thanks for the content my dude, loving the devs & dice
Thank you so much! Yeah I tried to challenge myself a bit with this one and I think the result was worth it! Thanks for the very nice comment Chillum Aperios! 👍💙💛💙
Epic build! Although you make it look easy. Great job, Leif!
Thank you so much Drew! 👍😅
Man, that is the most epic thing that you have ever done! So many awesome details, including the shit chute 😂. Thanks for another great project and video. 🤘😎
Hahaha! The star of the show is that shit-chute! 🤣 Thanks for commenting! 👍🙂
I want to learn how to do this, except not for games or anything! I just want to build dollhouses and fairy houses and cool miniature worlds. Your work seems so advanced. Where do I start learning so I can just do the basics?
Well that is an excellent question! I think everyone's journey is different. Me personally, I bought a bunch of cocktail sticks and a sharp knife and started carve small things such as chairs, tables and such. Í think it depends on what specifically you want to make. If you are in the US then getting some readiboard foamcore is usually the first good step to making buildings and such.
Best build yet, Leif, and that's a high bar. If you could tell your past self (when you first started your channel) one thing, what would it be?
Thank you so much Connor! Wow! That is a great question... after some contemplation I will have to say: "It will work out in the end, it's only paint/foam. Just go for it!". 👍🤣
Hands down the greatest video intro 😅😅😅😅 excellent work dude!!
Hahahahahaha! I sort of agree Moseth! Thank you much! 👍😊
Huzzah,, feed that Algorithm. It's HUNGRY!
Hahahaha! Not sure if it worked! 👍😂
i saw many crafters... i saw many tutorials. And You know what mister? You become my number one
Oh wow! That is so kind of you to say STEAMn00b! Thank you so very much! 🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤 👍🤘
Super Nice building! An as we viking say, a plus in the corner for the Bamse wet wipes ;)
Hahahaha! Thank you Fredrik Eagle-Eyes! Yeah I have a bunch of wet-wipes around when hobbying! 👍🤣
Man, you did it again! That was one really cool house. You impress video after video. You know, seriously, you could hold proper how-to courses. And and that intro - hilarious...! 😂🙌🏻
Hahaha! Thank you so much! Yeah I love to teach so I wouldn't be against it! Hahaha! Yeah I guess I have felt the cold shoulder from the algorithm so either I cry or I make fun of it! 👍😂
Very impressive and full of good tips. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
My pleasure Earl Kriewall! Glad you think it's helpful!👍🙂
that military shader is the best!! I use to buy the wash from Secret weapon miniatures "baby poop" lol
Military shader and strong tones are kind of my go to for brown or moss-green washes! 👍😉 Ahh I have not tried Secret Weapon products, any good?
Dude....so sick. You're games must be ridiculous. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! Funny enough I haven't used these in games...YET! Damn Covid! 👍😃
I am a noob to building dioramas, your videos are a great inspiration. Plus they are killer.
Aw that's so awesome to hear Charles! Thank you kindly and welcome to the hobby! 👍🙂
Great build! Really love the modular aspect of this build. Oh btw, I've found a small wire brush (like the ones at the hardware store for a dollar or so) also works really well for making wood textures if you don't brush too hard. Makes for a slightly faster build (you still do the planks with a pen or hot wire pen). Great video as always!
Thank you so much! Yeah a wire brush is another method for sure. It gives a more realistic approach and is a lot faster as you say. Personally I prefer the hot wire cutter method for a more exaggerated look but if I was doing something more realistic then wire brush would be my go to as well! 👍🙂
Realy love the roof ! texture and colors !!! really love the build Leif !
Thank you Tine! Yeah the roof is really what gives it a nice and cozy feel! Thank you for the kind words! 👍💙💛💙
Another amazing build to say the least.
Thank you so much! This one is very old but I appreciate your kind words! 👍😊
OMG, Leif, that is awesome, and every new video I think, how did he do an intro that's even funnier?
Hahaha! Thanks Chris! Yeah this one came as one of my many voices and then an idea! 👍😊
Amazing!
Could use this for guilders!
Thank you kindly Andersand! 👍😊
Cool build! I will pinch some of these techniques I think :)
Thanks and sounds good PookelyWoo! Have fun! 👍😁
Absolutely love the poop shoot!
Hahahaha! Thank you so much! It does bring a bit more grim nature to the build for sure! Thanks for sending me the foam, the paints, magnets etc. You guys are wonderful! 👍💙💛💙
Hahahahaha! Those intros are way funnier than they should be! 😂
Hahahaha! That one I think is one of my best ones if I may say so myself! Thanks for the nice comment Leif! 👍😂
Great build as always! Any idea where i can buy a guide for the hot wire cutter in sweden?
Thank you kindly 052081672! Since you're in Europe I would check out Shiftinglands or make one yourself! 👍😊
I honestly have no idea what you build these for or how any of it works but can you please marry me
Wow! Well I use these, well plan to use these, for tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons and such! Thank you very much for the offer! I am very flattered but I am already married! 😉👍
Awesome build. The flower boxes are a nice touch.
Thank you Thomas! 👍😊
Amazing art! love the style and also amazing video!
Thank you kindly! This one was special for me! 👍😁
So many cool techniques! Looks great!
Thanks Shane! Glad you like it! 👍😊
This is truly amazing! But one thing... no stairs?
Hahahahaha! Whoops! 👍😂
You make really cool buildings - you definitely deserve a subscription!
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel! 👍💙💛💙

Epic build Leif!
Thank you so much Lyander! For this comment and for all of the support! 👍💙💛💙
You got my +1 with the Taken skit Mr Leif!
Hahaha! Thanks for that Joe! Happy you liked the skit! 👍😁
Love this buildings! Nice work
Thank you so much Oscar! I think I have one or three more in me! We shall see, the goal is a town! 👍🤣
What type of foam cutter do you use to create the wood grains??
Hi Layne! So that is called hotwire WAND I think. I bought a set which had three interchangeable heads. They are usually very cheap and the thing you want to look for is the dimension of the tip so it's good for what detail you want! Hope that helps! 👍😊
Awesome work, a very impressive build.
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! 👍😃
The intro/hook alone got a like!
Thanks for a great video!
Hahaha! Thank you so much Alec! 👍🤣
That looks magnificent, love the little details and the unusual angles and jettying. Painting is great too! One thing about corners, for half timber builds I usually find it easier to cut the walls a little short, and join them with posts in each corner (so it's wall-post-wall rather than wall-wall) instead of mitering the edges. Less work IMO, and lets me control how thick I want the post to be.
Thank you Karl! Regarding the corner-tip! Thanks, I will keep that in mind going forwards! 👍😃
@@DevsDice welcome! Nothing wrong with the way you did it, just a different approach that could be easier in places 😉
The more techniques and tools one can use the better I usually say! So thank YOU! 😊👍
Thus do I make my offering to the UA-cam Algorithm! I find this content pleasing!
This is wonderful!! I like your use of the hot wire tool for wood grain.
Also, your shingles are beautiful!
Thank you so much! Sorry for the late answer but for some reason your comment got stuck in the "held for review". Thank you so much for your offering and for the nice words! 👍💙
Hahaha! Thank you again! 😊👍
Most egregiously bodacious abode, amigo!
Thank you Tommy! Happy you like it! 👍🤣
Great build Leif. Loving the paint and overall finished look of this one too, nice one man.
Thanks Shawn! Yeah the painting is quite simple but effective! 👍
Now that's what I call an epic build mate!
Cheers Archfrank! I did give it my all I think so thank you kindly! 👍🙂
Really nice!
Liking all of your work.
Thank you so much MiaGeeked! I appreciate it! 👍💙💛💙
Totally awesome build. Made it look too easy
Hahaha! Thanks Cassman83! It has it's share of struggles for sure! 👍😂
Wow! Just when you think the last building is the best of the best, you top it with this! Great job and an awesome production!

Thank you so much John! I have a feeling that I will have a hard time topping this one for some time! 🤣 Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! 👍💙💛💙

That damned algoritm threatening my friend! Since i am a sub i cant hit that buton but ive got a perticular set of other skills so I will look at the whole video, i will like it and i will coment to help my fellow Brother out with that pesky algoritm.... i miss the days where you only had to bang on stuff that didnt work or blow in the cartrige
So you surrvived midsummer. I only got a small froggys injury and inlaws related case of PTSD otherwise i came out of it intact thank Odin for the snaps
On using your fingers on the low temp glue, its ok to do if you dont own a hi-temp gluegun as well it will become a habbit and once you change to the hi temp youll get blistered thumbs or if your an idiot like me once you done with the gun youve got blisters covering both hands.... what is this me giving safety tips, what have you done to me Leif!
Oh yeah almost forgot, exelent work bro!
Hahahaha! Thank you so much Big Daddy! Sounds like you had a much more lively midsummer than I did! 👍🤣 Thanks for the kind words man and beware of high temperature glue guns! 😅🤘
@@DevsDice i probably didnt just got unlucky during the frog leaping. dont carry your kid and do the froggydance especialy if said kid has no consept of fear and thinks that free basing with out any safety details from your back is a good idea i pulled my back trying to keep him from killing himself. And then my inlaws started giving me greif ohh he could have died! Bla bla bla. As if i dont know that seams like 90% of our time spent together i try to minimise the damage he does to himself. I swear he is trying to kill me that or hes gona be a skater. thank oden for the the little glass that acompanies the picled herring. OP is your friend

Did you say "shit chute"?lmao
That Sir I did! 👍🤣
EPIC Build! I can't say I would ever take on something that large (so much time!), but it was a joy to watch you build it.
Thank you so much pez5767! I think this one will be one of many larger builds I do going forwards unfortunately! I have to make that town you know? 🤣👍
@@DevsDice That's awesome. As I was watching the video, I was thinking how epic it would look to see a full town built in your unique style. Good luck. Keep filming, I'll keep watching and liking.
