John Fisher is the worst owner in sports by far, combined with Rob Manfred being the worst commissioner in the history of sports has led us to where we are now. Vegas doesn’t even want the A’s and the only idiots that don’t know this are Fisher and Manfred.
Daily listener here! Has Manfred viewed the Tropicana sight on the Strip? First is the traffic and if that's not enough, the Strip is for adults! It's not a place where families will want to bring their kids to watch a baseball game! Who does Manfred want to market the A's to? Tourists? People fly in to gamble, not to watch a AA quality team at MLB prices owned by a tight wad clueless owner This stadium will be tiny domed and will doom this franchise...got to love clueless billionaires that currently run MLB
I'm not generally a fan of teachers' unions, but I support this effort. The As should not be allowed to move to Vegas (or anywhere else) without a relocation fee because that sets a dangerous precedent. And the fact that they don't even have renderings or a set location for a new home field, much less enthusiasm from Vegas residents, makes it that much worse.
@@thomasjoseph3488 That's because they took control of the team before moving it. MLB isn't taking the As from John Fisher before letting him move without a relocation fee. So this is an apples to oranges comparison.
@@hotwax9376 Relocation fee for any other move in MLB history? No. The owners want flexibility for themselves and expansion money to join their exclusive club. I suspect there has never been relo fees in any of the big four leagues. Never heard of any that I recall.
I am not a fan of fisher and I would vote for this if I lived in Vegas, but even if this does succeed, then the politicians would just repast the bill again. As for the lawsuit, it’s not going to succeed, but if there is merit to the case and the court hears the case, you could see an injunction barring the funding until the case plays out. That could delay the construction of the park.
@@richmartin1427 Same here. I don't live in Nevada nor am I an As fan, but if I did live there you can bet I'd vote to take away the funding too. I don't even particularly care if the As move to Vegas, but no team should be allowed to move markets without a relocation fee because that sets a dangerous precedent. If we don't stand up to it now, then someday it could be your team or mine, and in that situation we want somebody to fight for us.
NSEA is the much weaker teachers union in NV and has almost no influence at all. The much stronger CCEA teachers union supports the A’s ballpark project. Also there is no new or increased existing tax levied on NV citizens to pay the $120 million bond issue from Clark County, so the referendum filing will go straight to the circular file 🗑️
I would obviously love for them to stay in Oakland, I'm just worried about 5 or 6 years after the new ballpark opens because the giants still drastically dominate the market in the bay area
"All the revenue streams"? You mean "both" of them? Manfred is either clueless, or far more likely, deliberately playing dumb to avoid accountability. (I can only imagine he got a call from Roger Goodell, the contents of which started with "WTF???") One of these "revenue streams" goes away when Fisher sashays his way out of town. $70 million worth. Close to zero ticket sales in Oakland in 2024. Less merch sales than the "Sell" vendors. The Coliseum will be so empty the food vendors will leave. Whatcha got left, John? MLB Welfare? See how far that gets you through 2024. I honestly think the cash burn will be so quick that they either don't make it through the season - or more likely - the league takes the A's over just to finish out the schedule...MLB will blame Oakland, as usual. Lawsuits will ensue. NBC will get damages from Fisher for tanking the team and devaluing the TV contract. Fisher will be sued by Alameda County for fraud and deception leading to a mispriced, way below market Coliseum purchase based on "keeping the A's in Oakland". Courts reset the purchase price to something closer to market value to protect the public. Fisher can't afford it. Gap stocks continue to tank along with other brick and mortar retail. The Fisher family reels him in. He goes away, the playground already burnt to the ground...BTW, the line was 50,000+ to 1 according to the FT guys. I haven't checked the books myself, but I'm not sure why the bookmakers don't OTB this team...
@@thomasjoseph3488 Well, I'm of the opinion that the whole league is going down in flames, and that the A's are just the catalyst. Their business model sucks and they won't change. Plus, either Fisher quitclaims his half interest in the Coliseum complex or the County will sue. The taxpayers will demand it. This was a fraudulent acquisition, plain and simple. They aren't going to let Fisher keep it as some sort of door prize. NBC? Who knows, but they could get their books adjusted if they want to...Whatever happens - the only way Oakland keeps a team at this point anyway is by legal force. MLB has already dissed, shamed, and threatened Oakland far worse than anything it did to Montreal. Who gives a damn what MLB thinks??? I care more about what the NFL thinks about St. Louis now...
Hmmm A’s vs Schools….i wonder which city actually has better schools. And if the A’s stay in Oakland, will that help out the schools of the city, when all the money is spent building a stadium for a billionaire. Priorities people…stadium and Oakland and Alameda county further in debt…or money spent on schools, police, solving homelessness, stopping crime, where would the money be better spent…
The SLC groups have power and money. This includes putting a media package together, even if it is not on par with the Bay Area deal. SLC will also roll out the red carpet, sell out either stadium nightly (even with enhanced capacity), and even possibly set up the city as a permanent home. This would obviously leave LV as an expansion site with Nashville.

Thank YOU!
STAY IN OAKLAND!!! How come everybody is so upset with the mayor of Las Vegas??? lol
