Hi, Mr Waldon. From long experience with Japanese decals (eg Tamiya and Hasegawa, Fujimi and the like I found that it is not the decal film and printing that is thick - it is the adhesive under it. To counter, you should NOT use "lukewarm" water - the water should be HOT, HOT. (AS in about the temperature you wash dishes in!) This will help dissolve a large part of that adhesive and the remains will be sufficient to adhere to the kit. Another benefit is that it will soften the decal film and printing and aid in settling over details.... Try it on a paint horse and check it out...
