    One of the things I'm starting to like about your vids is the preparedness to document your mistakes along the way. As a bang-average modeller, I get as much inspiration from knowing that better people than me can louse things up, as I do from seeing the successful result at the end. Well done, and great job on this 262.

    There are plenty of great modelers out there hosting their UA-cam channels but yours is outstandingly unique!
    Watching your vids always feels like being taken on a mystery tour into unexplored territory yet to be discovered .
    What makes them so special to me is the complete absence of any technical routine whatsoever - as highly skilled it might ever be -
    which boringly prevails in so many other videos released on the subject.
    And at the core of it - it’s the role you chose for yourself:
    Other than the rest of the cast on the UA-cam modeling venue who seems to have adopted for themselves and apparently rejoices in being part time ‚behind the scene‘ - guides rushing crowds with eyes full of childish amazement through their neatly assembled Lilliput, while keeping an eye constantly out for the numbers to reach that would attract sponsors,
    your way of presentation has nothing of that.
    It far more resembles that of an explorer and expedition leader who - with a bushwhacker in his hand - cuts his way through the thicket of the jungle of possibilities, not knowing until last whether he’ll succeed or fail, while sharing his thoughts, plans and doubts in comments full of subtle humor with his small company of comrades and followers.

      Tamiya makes a great Ki-61 Hien. One fuselage half is clear. Makes a good paint mule if you don’t go the clear route.

    I really appreciate Greg's style regarding weathering: subtle, not heavy handed. Some modellers out on UA-cam, not naming any names, (ahem, Plasmo), end up with results like the frigging plane was just exhumed from the bottom of the ocean. Excellent 262, really interesting.

      Its called Artistic License. Everyone has a base 'Style' everyone's style can be clean or the filter can be turned up to 11. I build models in clean style as the weathering sessions often add too many hours of work for me to actually follow through and finish the model.
      P.S. Leave the call outs for the drama kids

    • @jimkrb
      @jimkrb 4 роки тому

      @@andrewkaminskas7721 Appreciate your input. If I hadn't mentioned you I doubt I would have gotten it.
      Criticism is vital to art and science, I hope you take this as intended and not as too much of a slight.
      To your point, there is also a science to weathering, not just art or artistic license. Striving for realism as you do, I feel you sometimes forget that in wartime a lot of aircraft, particularly in WW2, literally did not last long enough in service to get as dirty as often portrayed. So that if weathering is overdone it actually detracts from historical realism.
      My 2 cents anyway.

    • @insanesebbl854
      @insanesebbl854 4 роки тому

      @@jimkrb the artistic license negates the aim for historical realism. If im choosing to make my me262 look like it had seen more combat than anything else, then this means that i kinda have to ignore the fact that, in this case, most me262 were looking quite pristine. Critique should therefore also take the authors intention into consideration. If i say, that i want to make it look a certain way that might not be historically accurate, and then someone tells me that the weathering is too much to be historical accurate, then this critique is kinda obsolete, since the author was never aiming for the goal of realism. What im NOT saying by this is, that its not legit for you to say "me personally, i prefer historical accuracy when it comes to scalemodeling over artistic style".
      That being said: This is a hobby that has not one goal only called realism :)

    That was cool. Haven't built airplane models since I was a kid but I wish this existed back in the 1970 s. I used to have to get very imaginative with my dad's zippo lighter and exacto knives. It was hit and miss. I would come up with all kinds of crazy ways to simulate battle damage etc.

    Loving your approach to documenting both the general build and the progress good and ‘should have read the instructions’ moments👍🏼. One question … the one glove? I get the keeping finger marks of the build, but the other hand also touches the model or is it a ‘best reduction approach, minimise contact with one hand gloved and the dominant hand remaining i gloves for small and dexterous tasks …. Certainly saves on stripping off a glove and drying a sweaty hand….. just curious👍🏼
