73 Plymouth Satellite SLEEPER Hemi Install! Street Sweeper Part 3 - Stacey David's Gearz S8 E13
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2015
- If you could only do one upgrade on your vehicle, that would make the biggest impact on the looks and drivability, what would it be? Well Stacey answers that question by installing a Katzkin leather interior into a Jeep Compass, and showing that if you’ve got an open weekend and a few hundred bucks, you can do the same thing on your car or truck. After that, he jumps back on to the Street Sweeper project to lay out the interior and the rear end, and finally drop that huge Hemi into place. If you’ve ever thought it would be fun to build a sleeper car, this is one ’73 Plymouth Satellite that shows how it can be done!

fti stacy,as soon as the wheels went on the sleeper went out!
Not to mention how it's going to sound!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! I'm so glad you decided to post full episodes, keep 'em coming.
When are you going to finish the street sweeper sallike
I never would have thought of super glue for a small cut on my hands etc, I'm not a mechanic/gearhead, but I do have those moments. Thank you Stacey
so after suffering thru countless ads and promotional interruptions theres no conclusion and no road test??
wheres episode 14 FFS!!!???
Rob Washere Fuck.
Yeah right?
No final look at the car done and running..?
Maybe the thing never ran..
Missed opportunity. Blue-balling the audience.
make you hunt for season 9. after 13 fkn minutes of ads starting this episode, i damn near gave up & clicked out
even at stacydavid.com, there's only those three episodes of that car. maybe it was so much of a sleeper it disappeared.
@@stanmack1 Another guy in the comments here said it was sold on ebay in January 2019 with no drivetrain. Perhaps this was the last episode of the show.
Thanks so much for posting full episodes, I loved watching Gearz on TV and I loved watching TRUCKS with Stacey David in high school. I've always loved American Muscle and "sleepers".
Yep - a 'Sleeper' FINAL EPISODE would nice WTF?
This guy never finishes anything it is so annoying
This guy doesn't build cars, he's just promoting expensive aftermarket parts. Finishing the cars aren't important. Besides, if he finishes them, the announcers won't get their expensive parts back.
I had a 73 roadrunner that got stolen :/ my uncle bought it in 72 and I inherited it when he passed in 2012. I miss that car so much
Finally full episodes ! I like this show but hate how they cut it up
Where's the final episode? want to see finished car :(
The front and rear suspension dont seem to fit each other. The front is a heavy duty setup that is strengthened for cornering and road racing. The rear suspension is a ladder bar setup that is great for drag racing, but is not the best choice for road racing. Just seems like the front rear and rear suspensions are for two different applications.
There goes the " sleeper" look. He could have used a factory rally dash updated with modern electronics. I would have kept the column shifter and bench seat, widened steel wheels with the same hubcaps.
Ragingbull340-- Yeah, competitor leans to the drivers window to talk, sees all that chrome n whatnot, he ain't layin down any $$$ without *at least* a hood pop
I know this is an ancient comment, but man, you just ain't gonna stop 700+ hp with the brakes that will fit under the stock 14" wheels.
@@TheKiltedYaksman1 it'll stop just make sure it's on a long stretch of road lol
Ragingbull340
That's pretty much what I did with my '71 Challenger. Indy 528 Legend with an aluminum block and heads making the same 750hp as the Ray Barton Stacy used. I went with a 5 speed stick and an XV Motorsports Level I suspension and three piece billet wheels and 186+mph tires. It's made for top end and oddly enough I am still running the 10" drum brakes and have been for over 11 years. I'm up grading the front suspension again and I'll be putting some bigger brakes on it but I just laugh when the "Know-It-All" internet experts tell everybody that "you just ain't gonna stop 700+ hp with the brakes that will fit under the stock 14" wheels" LOL, I ran the steel 15" stock wheels with the red circle Doge dog dish hub caps for years and never had an issue. It's about knowing what your car can do and what it can't do and having the skill to control it in any given situation. I've literally never been in a situation I couldn't handle with this car and I have run it up to 186 mph (verified with state government documentation...lol) with those "Ain't gonna stop it" 10" drums. SSTFU
@@topenddean it's not about what you can do it's about safety. At a 186 dim drum brakes aren't stopping you as good as disc brakes will.. my 72 Dodge Dart swinger brakes sucked.
WTF? This project was supposed to be a STREET SLEEPER. It's anything but! I guess David's idea of a street sleeper is a lot different than most people's idea of a street sleeper.
His idea of a "Budget" is way different too. But, he has advertisers to appease. And, I learn about new products. David is awesome thou. His Energy is contagious. I like how he helps youngsters get into it.
The exterior still appears stock which makes it a sleeper.
Stock appearing with obscene horsepower.
It's the perfect street sleeper! Big horsepower with plane Jane looks.
Stacey has just show you how you can lose your way during your build. You start with an idea on the build then at the end your project is completely different then originally envisioned and a whole lot more expensive then your original estimates. It happens. my advice is to hang a sign in your shop where you look at it all the time with your original build ideas on it. In this case the words sleeper should be in bold letters. Every day look at that sign and plan on how you can stay on track. Hope this helps someone and have a good day.
it was supposed to be a sleeper mmmmm not stock look at all
This show was like having sex with a hot girl except right before its time to finish she gets up and walks away.
Can’t afford a cuda...builds a sleeper and then puts 50k in accessories into it. Rolling my eyes!
You read my mind.
AAAA-MEN!
@@mikemakuh5319 Yeah, Jesus as my witness, for the money they spent on this I could have bought my friend's 71 340 Challenger convertible WITH a Shaker hood.
Pretty different from a true sleeper which would have been a dingle ball hone rebuild of a junkyard 440 in a guy's garage 45 years ago.
Y’all know how this crappy fake content goes. Mostly to sell the parts he is using. The suspension parts are not bought by the pros. I would be suspect of any items pushed by this guy. Check to be sure other people say good things about these products.
I don't know if 2.5" is adequate for what he's running, but 2.5" exhaust times two is NOT the same as a 5" exhaust. Diameter is not what matters for comparisons like that, it's AREA. A 2.5" exhaust tube has 19.63 square inches of cross-sectional area. That's how much space the gas has to leave. a 5" exhaust has a cross-sectional area of 78.54 square inches! You'd need QUAD 2.5" pipes to move the same volume. I've watched Stacey since he was on trucks and I love his show, but even Stacey makes mistakes, and this is one of them.
Erik Warnes a dual 3" system would probably come a lot closer to being enough for the Hemi
I think it's just for being quiet. But you're right
3.5 is ideal for over 650 hp
@@Moparmaga-1 that way to big. you can do 900hp from a 3.5. 2.75-3inch would be good on 650hp
@@Moparmaga-1 2.5 is for 475hp need 2.75 at lesst which will do 570hp 3" will do 680hp
When do we get to see in on the road?
Yeah, that leather interior in Arizona 115 degree summer heat won't be too comfortable. I'll stick to cloth interiors thank you.
Kinda like 10° winter weather. Doesn't feel very nice. Especially of you wear a suit for a living. Suit pants don't offer much protection from cold or hot.
I watch Vice Grip Garage. It is down to earth and very funny.
When this car is done it will not at all be a sleeper. For a person that knows nothing about cars... maybe. But to anyone kindof familiar with modern muscle cars, the go fast will be so plain obvious.
Done over a hundred leather kits to date, not as easy as you say, and not meant for any weekend warrior!
Kevin Armishaw I agree 100 percent. My Dad was an upholsterer for over 40 years and I grew up in his shop.leather is not something a beginner should tackle as it is very expensive and takes A LOT of practice to learn how to do it right.I can't tell you how many wrinkled up disasters I've seen because people didn't know what they were doing.
These old car shows were just rolling commercials, everything in it was paid to be in it especially the leather seat kit. Katzkin knows its not for amateurs, they just want to sell seat packages.
So I wasting my time on three episodes of a so-called Budget sleeper. No final episode !! BTW it's a restomod. and at least 50 k or more .
Lol about half of that was engine alone 😂
No doubt!!!! Wtf is it coming?
A 2.5" pipe has a cross section of 4.9 sq/in, a 5" pipe has a cross section of 19.6 sq/inches, so it would take four 2.5" pipes to equal the flow of a single 5" pipe. Two 2.5" pipes are roughly equal to a 3.5" pipe.
it was ashame to do hat such a nice looking cr, if I bought that is take that top off repaint the roof and drive it
My mom had a sebring plus satellite, 73 with 318.looked liked this one, car would sit under a maple tree in the cold up north for weeks and yes it was the only car that would start, well that old plymouth you would have to jump every one else to get thers started, so the old plymouth rumor of oh that ply will give you troubles, boy was they wrong, thanks looking good brother
dude , I love your shows , been a fan for a long time but haven't seen any vids in years , I forgot how long it takes your shows to finish a build lol ,.. no big deal ,.. subbed !
I thought this was supposed to be a simple build? He's dumping some big ticket items into this "sleeper".
People don't have this kinda money in my mind just saying
@@kylec3296 Exactly
That huge rear sway bar isn't for cornering. You're not going to be cornering quickly with a ladder bar setup. The sway bar is to keep the rear suspension from twisting the body of the car under launch so it will leave the line flat with both tires equally loaded.
Say hello to the worlds most noticeably modified “sleeper”
Amen
All it needs is a 6-71 blower sticking out of the hood!
24 min video but 20 min of it is commertials
maddadd1-- more like 22 minutes >.< SO FRUSRATING!!!
Maybe you could take the 24 minutes and learn to use spell check or maybe, actually fuckin' learn to read...don't watch the damn show if'n ya' don't like it...we won't miss you...
Affordable.... really there’s 80 grand plus just in parts
Yeah and 80k in tools and equipment. Plus overhead for shop rent, electric etc...then it sells for 20k at auction👍
So much for a budget car!!
If your budget is $70k
Fantastic show! 👍🏻
I was enjoying, until you decided to change the interior and that classic beauty !
That was Nauseating. That dash, new seats, and console just killed the whole deal , but it was already gone with all the deep pocket stuff we can't afford.
Good job, but hardly a secret sleeper, any of us car guys, no matter at what level, will pick up on it rite away and many will say why do that to such an original sweet heart. It doesn't look factory, Stacy, no secrets surprises here partner
Good show
great show. :-)
should have kept the interior stock!!!
This reminds me I really need to redo my seats.
Leather is hotter in the summer, but much easier to keep clean with Leather cleaner
This fucking show is all over the fucking place!!!
Sure, We all have an extra 25,000 bucks lying around to put into old beater cars
Two 2.5" pipes are most certainly NOT the same as one 5" pipe. The cross section area of two 2.5" pipes is ~9.8in^2. The cross section area of one 5" pipe is ~19.6in^2.
So much hate from other people, man I love this show
i been watching since i was a kid
One thing this show has always needed--an overall cost of the build!
When do we see the final result I want to see it together
I would love to have that car! I would keep the old interior and maybe have another Sebring
as a stand-in and use the old parts on it. That'll keep them guessing, ...
this car was never finished and sold on ebay in January of 2019 minus the drivetrain
LOL
Probably had the engine as a show piece from Ray Barton and returned it - same for alot of those parts that he showed off.
Not sure why we watch this guy?
Yep. That's the only way the announcers/sponsors will get their expensive parts back.
Awesome build but I can't help but think that the hemi is going to be pretty heavy for road racing.
gotto love a never ending money supply.
You're right.
I wonder who pays for all these parts? Gearz?
What did they do with this after finishing it? Where is episode 14?
peejay1954 every product you see is given to the show by the manufacturer. it's like a sponsorship. the product is advertised on the show, which is good for business. the show is one long entertaining commercial for all the products. that's where the money comes from.
I think most are but not all, I doubt Ray Barton gave them one of their mega buck 528 hemis. It was probably loaned to them for a set period of time seeing as the car was later sold without a drive train.
@@MaliciousSRT Exactly
this dude is awesome me and my dad built a car that wasn't a sleeper it flat out killed other cars we built a 350 engine made it look stock but what was inside well that was another story nothing but racing performance parts
It's no longer a sleeper, Bro. It lost that status with the wheels, the gauge cluster, and steering column.
12:36 We don't need no stinkin' stitches! Just give me some duct tape and a shop towel and I'll be good. lol
I would have left that car alone it WAS in nice shape
Sleeper? It'll not going to deceive anyone.
Whatever became of the Sebring?
I grew up watching stacy on the show trucks on channel tnn, horsepower tv with chuck and joe then trucks after that.
Now the that you replaced the cloths seats with leather, lets see how long it took before the kids and the dogs tear up the leather ones..
With quality leather that is conditioned and taken care of it will stand up to just about anything...
So ya telling me I can do all this for 50 some grand = Hell l bought a 2014 Corvette Stingray = 10 k in upgrades 525 RWHP 500 LB TORQUE... It had 15,000 miles on it when i bought it... Show room condition.... All for together cost me 45,000... lookin to put a turbo or a supercharger on and still be under 50 k... of course there are the people out there that will say YA = Ibet it dont handle like the Satellite .... And there right ... theres NO Comparison....
did you see the wrinkles in that back seat LOL, notice they dont show you everything, but I do like the show, I guess.
How Much did all those "Bolt on" parts cost? I have a feeling the price tag on your "Sleeper" car would put me in a Coma.
3years and still no answer's by this guy who gets everything for free by sponsors huh
Go figure
2.5 in exhaust on a 700 hp muffler this guy needs to watch engine masters
this guy knows wayyy more, but nice try
Del Slate lmao have u seen engine master they dyno both 2.5inch and 3 inch exhausts and 2.5 with 750 horsepower will restrict it no matter what
I'd like to know how much this car project costs in total.
$61,000
So my 5" mandrel bent exhaust is overkill? I have a turbo muffler but its made a lot different than these. Mine has an 80mm spinning baffle.
Affirmative lol
How much would all these upgrades cost approximately?
A Chrysler 9 1/4 would of been strong enough for the hemi and throw a sure grip diff in.
9 1/4 at this level? Definitely maybe. But I believe that was a 8 1/4 that came out of it.
It is easy too do, change many seat cover on heavy equipment seats, same style system
Those covers looked loose and light wrinkle/rolls in them. Anyone else think so? Looks good, from camera outside. And, I liked the look.
Are there more episodes of this build? Can't find any. The car isn't even finished, and all we have seen is presentation of all the expensive parts he has bought. (Or been donated?)
I decided to buy a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner from my neighbor Dennis, and restore it back to perfection.
Cool story bro.
12:40 close/press together the cut as much as possible, otherwise it will HURT A LOT!
Awesome 👍 MoparOrNoCar
Old school mopars maybe, but not today
Sadly project street sweeper was never finished by Stacey. Instead it was sold as a project with no engine or transmission.
@@Kias1dad Totally agree. I kept wondering why this only had 3 episodes and wasn't finished. Now I know, but I still think a build like this makes a lot of sense to many hotrodders. I wish he'd start one of these again. Thanks for the updates here.
Thanks for the update here, DW. I had no idea why this project was never finished.
- and sorry to see that killer steering column and dash removed :-( sleeper ? stock but deep dish rims n hub caps would have worked , hardly a sleeper-
I wonder how that thing would've handled on a road course.
He spent more on the so called sleeper than a new Vette would cost. He kept talking budget but he kept adding more and more high dollar part's.
No joke. Damn, we'd have to finance the damn Gearvendor alone !
a pair of 2 1/2" pipes equivalent to a single 5" diameter pipe, WTF? the single 5" pipe actually has double the cross sectional area as the 2 1/2" pipes
Yep. Area of 2.5 inch pipe is 4.9 square inches. 5 inch diameter pipe is 19.63 square inches almost 4 times more.
If you're wondering why the car was never done?
I'm quoting this from an email from someone who's related to the Gearz staff:
"Stacey was building the Street Sweeper for someone else, but they had health issues in their family and the project was no longer a priority. Stacey sold it shortly after."
what happened to his finger nail
Why not just bolt in a Dana 60. The wheels suck. The rest is pretty good
I agree on the Dana. A 9" is more expensive to build, is more parasitic and not as strong. All reasons to never run a 9" Ford axle and yet everybody and their brother thinks their great. Stock in a modest hp application they're cheap and easy. But at the level this car is at that was a stupid uninformed decision.
Stacey u r a bad dude
how about doing a cummins swap on a suburban mine is a 1999 that has a tired 350 with an automatic and 4x4
Only sleeper is this show.
Stock rear axle?
OI! where's Heavy Metal?! i loved that thing!
Nice commercial
Wow never even got to here it run this sucks.
Where is the 73 Sattilite project? I had a 73 Sattilite Sebring Plus. Which I still had it.
It was sold in 2019 as a project minus the engine and transmission. No idea as to why.
Regarding the exhaust: Two 2.5 inch pipes don't flow the same as one 5 inch. That's nonsense. If you had basic math at primary school , you would know that the area of a circle is Pi*(D^2)/4. So, the cross sectional area of two 2.5 inch pipes is 9.82 square inch, which is practically the same as one 3.5 inch pipe at 9.62 square inch. One 5 inch pipe is 19.64 square inch. In addition, one 3.5 inch pipe will in most cases flow better than two 2.5 inch pipes, because there is more surface area in two 2.5 inch pipes than in one 3,5 inch pipe. This creates more drag.
Two 2.5 inch pipes are small on a 750hp Hemi.
so you just went outside and grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it in there?
+alex quiring dont be that guy.
put stickers xD that's how you add hp and change the look.
R.I.P. Radio
pi are squared, Stacy. 2x2.5" exhaust DOES NOT equal 5"
2.5" squared times pi is 19.625!
1.25" squared is 4.9, or one quarter. This is because PI ARE SQUARED!
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTT... Oh.. Yeah.. Great Sleeper .. NOT..!!! Good Idea. BUT...
" Total Sleeper Fail "..
WAAAAAYYY Too much bling do even think of calling it a sleeper. A hot rod ??? Ok... A Sleeper.??? Not Even Close
IT would be nice to know exactly how much you would have to pay for all these parts.
What's happen with heavy metal tow truck
Where's the last videos?
What happened with street sweeper? We all need to see the payoff.
Yes agreed we’re is final show on road..."".???
Car was never finished and sold on ebay with no drivetrain
