  • Hey guys welcome to a brand new video. Today we will be taking a look at a aircraft that is striving to be the personal jet of choice! The Flaris LAR01! When I first saw the aircraft it definitely reminded me of the Cirrus Vision Jet and sure is similar in size. So, I decided to look behind the looks of the aircraft and see what it offers!
FLARIS LAR 1 is a single-engine jet aircraft with a very lightweight, composite construction originating in Poland. It creates a new category of small, lightweight jets, ideal for quick movement for any purpose. The jet is powered by a single Williams International FJ33-5A engine with with an engine control unit computer that allows the reduction of fuel consumption to be significant. Also this just happens to be the same engine that powers the Cirrus Vision Jet. The aircraft has 5 seats for 1 pilot and 4 passengers. The pilot of this aircraft has an awesome office the flight deck features the Garmin G600 TXI Avionics System and FFAS interactive onboard computer. The price of the aircraft is will be approximately € 2 million Euros or about 2,350,000 US Dollars and they plan to start taking pre-orders in 2021. They also add that by that time they would have chosen the payment scheme. The first deliveries for the aircraft listed as experimental or special are planned for late 2020 which means that some restrictions will apply depending on the country of registration. In 2024 they plan to deliver the EASA CS 23 Certified manufactured aircraft. This jet claims to be the fastest personal jet and we are going to be jumping right in to find out if that's the truth! Lets take a look at the listed speeds of this aircraft
Hope you guys enjoyed and If you did make sure to subscribe and ring the notification bell so that you are notified when I upload more awesome videos!

Also, for everyone who seems to want a lower price for the new plane, the engine manufacturer charges about $820,000.00 for the engine, plus that same manufacturer will charge you about $200,000 to $500,000 when it's time for an inspection. And nobody else is authorized/certified to inspect or repair this engine. Same as for the vision jet on this issue.

@@msnpassjan2004 I see. Your correct and you're assuming everyone else would be flying commercial. I'm a commercial rated pilot and business jet instructor. I know all about line up and wait, etc. I was coming from the point of view that others could take a private aircraft too and not have to wait, but now that you've clarified your statement I understand where you're coming from.
You know, I don't what it is, but I'm OK with flying a single engine turbo-prop, but I'm not ok flying a single engine jet powered aircraft. I guess it must be that in all the years I've been training business jet pilots, we do so much single engine flying in training, shutting down an engine, etc. Mostly in two engine biz jets and some three engine jets.

It is smaller than Cirrus SF 50.
But it is faster and has a better range.
Of course for the time being it is experimental.
    Pros
It is like Piper cub of jets with STOL abilities.
    Low cost of maintainence.
Also it is a great option for the military as a recon plane because of the ability to land on grass strips.
    Cons
My major concern is the low service ceiling.May have to deviate course in bad weather.

The Vision has just the single engine. Making it more cost effective per hour of fuel. Also the yearly engine annual is half the price along with any motor repairs that can come along. I believe the onboard emergency parachute system, does add to the pilots keen peace of mind. Also you can add two lite wing mounts, to hang AIM-9 Sidewinder anti-aircraft missiles underneath. The Engineers left enough Room up front for a single M3 Browning machine gun with electrically-boosted feed in the nose areas.

This is weird to compare to the cirrus price wise. So the cirrus price is just under 2mil whist this is about 450k more expensive right off the bat. So from price the cirrus is winning here, however the LAR01 cost about $180 less an hour to operate than the cirrus. This means you’ll have to fly it for 2500 hours just to break even. Now that’s all cool but if the LAR01 is more expensive to maintain especially after that many hours then you’ll never make your money back in the purchase. The other thing is that the cirrus can hold two more passengers which is a third more than the LAR01 but only cost a quarter more to operate an hour. This means if you’re running some type of business where the more people you can have the better you will be making about 5% more with the cirrus. The draw back is that the cirrus travel well over a 100knots slower at cruise speed so in a sense the farther you can go the more cost affective the LAR01 is. They expect about 2000 miles of rang with is about 800 larger than the cirrus. The only issue is that for a jet of that size with only four other seats to fly someone that far there is always a lost. So unlike the cirrus where there can be six passengers going somewhere the LAR01 can only carry 4 at most which will affect its range a lot. The issue is that it might not be as expensive to fly the aircraft an hour but maintenance and trying to make back that money will have the company up charge for a little while. The issue with this is that anyone who is able to pay that much will have more than three associates with them. The other issue is that the cirrus is cheaper and has a way more better equipped interior that even has a tv in it and is quiet enough to not have to wear ear protection. The LAR01 does not. What I’m saying is that this aircraft is more expensive and would require the owner to fly it a lot to make back as much money as they spent on it. The jet is not practical for a company to own and operate so it’ll be exactly what it’s meant for and that’s a personal private jet. The issue is that why would you buy a jet that is half a million more with less luxury and capability when it comes to carry weight? In order to break even the owner would have to spend well over another million on fuel alone just to break even with a cirrus that flew the same 2500 hours. That’s impractical and if I’m being honest sort of ruins the plane. If the plane was just as much as the cirrus then maybe it would be worth it but it’s not. I just checked their website and the price was lowered to about the same as the cirrus and now it’s more of a question of the mission of the aircraft. Would you rather have practicality or performance?

Roman numerals have ==>> no zero.. and require fractions to get any type of accuracy.. it's not accurate at all.. the metric system is based on the real World.. 10 million meters between the equator and pole.. for example.. I can do powers of 10 in my head.. try that with fractions.. that's exactly why most Americans tell me they think math is hard

it's absolutely impossible to do mathematics with no zero... that's the very best reason to convert to metric... I lived in Europe for a few years when I was a kid... I have always used metric.. I am a scientist, and it is the only system we use.. for all of the above reasons.. and lots more.. Imperial system measurements are absolutely arbitrary
... they have no rhyme or reason.. 100 is too hot.. 0 is too cold for a guy in Germany in the 1700s.. or something like that.. or.. 0 is the freezing point of water.. 100 is the boiling point... a mile was 10,000 steps for a Roman soldier... or something like that.. probably not a whole increment of 10.. because they don't use zero, 10 was just a symbol.. with no value or connection to 20.. or 15... it's arbitrary.. and it makes mathematics impossible, and science too.. it keeps the Americans from figuring out where all the money goes

@@reinhart482 Yes, that door design is just looking for an accident!! Very bad design. However, at $1.5M they might just sell a lot of them. The avionics are not bad for the price. I'd like to have seen a G3000 in it with the new autoland feature if the pilot cannot land the airplane but those all add to the cost. $1.5M just might be their ticket to success!! The other thing I like about that single engine is it farther back behind the cabin than the Cirrus Jet. That has to help cut down on the engine noise getting into the cabin.

See the only thing i see the same as the cirrus vicion jet is the single engine. Other wise this is an entirety different aircraft, longer range, longer aircraft, cirrus has a V tail while the flari has a twin tail (which makes it more controllable in cross winds) there are a lot of technical and design differences.

It has many good qualities, I believe the car seat jet config has extreme potential but other than looking a little funky, where it fails is price. I don't care that it might still make cost sense compared to other products, it's still a big failure compared to what it could be. Williams may be a big part of the fault, depending on what they charge for such an engine.
What could and should be done instead is developing a tiny turbofan jet engine such that an ultra light 4 seater would be well powered by 2 such engines. It would be engines in the 10-20kg range which can tell you that they shouldn't cost half a million dollars. An ultralight pressurized twin jet has extreme potential. Over 2 million euros is a complete failure. you can buy 2 used twin engine jets for that.

"An ultralight pressurized twin jet has extreme potential"
I'm not certain if I agree with that or I understand what you're trying to say.
Is it an ultralight? While U.S. and rest of the world ultralight categories are very different, both limit the flight envelope so much that pressurization or jet propulsion should be unnecessary.
Is it a CS23 plane with the weight of an ultralight? Then I'm not certain you can include all those extra equipment needed and retain the weight of an ultralight...
      Or did I misunderstand it?

    • @DanFrederiksen
      @DanFrederiksen 4 роки тому

@@g.zoltan You are so rooted in what exists you have trouble imagining something new. If it had to conform to current regulations yes it would be C23/part 23 and key to the idea is low weight. What extra equipment? remember a 200kg aircraft would only need very very light jet engines, especially when it has two. And pressurization in a small hull is zero challenge for composites. Indeed it's a strength, windows aside. when you go small and light, things become effortless. Material strengths becomes advantageous at small scales. Which is important for a jet engine.
