Question: I am cleaning a pair of solovair Oxblood color boots and I am having a tough time choosing a polish color to match Oxblood. What do you recommend?
For oxblood it’s Hermès red by saphir.
i use a latex glove to apply cream polish. when I use my finger, its hard to wash off the residual cream polish. what are your thoughts on using a latex glove to apply cream polish?
Can i ask please ... after you used hairdryer to melt the wax...do you remove it by cloth or u just put cream on top of it and continue?
Hey Preston, I was playing around with your recommendations and found an ultimate shine using ..... a piece of fleece (new and clean) , please try it and let me know what you think. Of course, this is a final finish step :)
Jack! My wife teaches home economics in high school and I also picked up some fleece from her fabric collection and used it as a final buffing cloth, I agree it works great!!
Preston, I’m curious, it appeared you didn’t rinse the shampoo out of the suede at all, does this cause any buildup over time?

Suede dyes would be needed for that. It works!
How did you handle width sizing on these Preston, since I know you have a wide foot? I'm a fan of the look and shape of Carlos Santos shoes, but have a wide-ish foot myself.
I’m an 8EEE but my true to size UK size at 7UK fit me perfectly. The boot runs wide so no worries.

I just learned how to mirror shine shoes and I did both my pairs of AE's as well as the old pair of Johnston and Murphys (as in the made in USA ones) I just bought. I'd like to see what you think...is there a way I can send you pics?

I've never heard of that. My work boots are atrocious. Gravel lots, mud and everything else in heavy industry. I walk thru. What do you do for cracking soles at the ball of the toe? That's where my boots wear out the most. No matter the brand.

I've spent all this time shining my shoes and now that I'm at home, there is nothing to shine! I'm just going to have to wear my dress shoes and loafers around the house, though I won't wear them hiking. I'm listening to jazz tonight, so a braided, kiltie tassel loafer sounds about right. Using a normal shoe free with a pool noodle works fine for me.
Is there a reason you only mirror shine the toes?
Yes, if you mirror shine the vamp or the sides of the shoe, when the shoe flexes the wax will crack and create an ugly, flaky, white residue. The toe cap and heel counter have hardeners in them so they don't flex and the mirror shine remains.

Some weird artifacts happening at 8:43. Look at the bluish white spots around toe cap.
It’s just the reflection from my front and side windows. Comes off as a blue tint sometimes.
