Bill's story about the tape reminds me of how my first copy of Pink Floyd's The Wall was a cassette-to-cassette rip that I made myself with the built-in recording mic accidentally left switched on, so the result was that the first time I ever listened to this album that's known for having lots of background detail in the sound design, I had to analyze it closely to be sure what was the stuff on TV in Pink's hotel room and what was just my Dad, for instance, calling out to my Mom, "JANE???
