I am Italian from the city of Turin, in 2017 I was lucky enough to visit Rome together with a true 80-year-old Roman young man who drives a car in Rome and is still very active. he was born in Rome in 1935, he lived all his life in Rome. he knows everything about Rome. thanks to this 80 years old gentleman i saw ancient things that many tourists can't see,. the thing that struck me is that this gentleman took pictures of rome in 1950 .1960.1970.1980.1990.2000 .2010 . and still today 2020 this gentleman goes at 5:00 in the morning in the center of Rome to take the photos in Rome and all his art of him! he goes at 5:00 in the morning because so he can take pictures of the real authentic Rome
You were very lucky. My father was from Argentina and spent 3 months a year from 1930 to 1936 visiting relatives there. He had an old uncle who wanted to show the city to his nephews but the only one who followed him around was my teenage nerd father. (The rest lived there and took the city for granted.) My father took me to Rome when I was 19 and remembered his old uncle’s tours. I was lucky, too! I took my daughter when she was 20 but she just wanted to have fun with her distant cousins. Oh well!
Thank you for the beautiful video of Rome, I wish one day God will allow me to go back and see this wonderful place. I lived in Italy for straight ten yrs but I did not have the chance to see Rome, it was my heart’s desire. One day God’s will. Again, thanks so much. God bless.
Brought back memories of 60s and 70s trips with family. My dad lived traveling and loved Rome. Forced us kids to speak Italian when at home. My dad was German. We spoke Italian with a German accent. Lol.
I am anxiously awaiting my trip back to Italy in November. I will revisit all these places. So beautiful and so much history. Thank you so much for sharing. I so enjoy your walks.😊
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I was in Rome in November and walked around so lost, despite having watched a ton of walking videos. I had a general idea of where everything is, but there are so many side streets! I will be back there in 5 weeks and this video ... with the street names and details you included, will be so helpful! I'm also lucky, because you happened to start right by my hotel, in front of Pantheon! I can't wait to follow your exact path and not get lost again! 😊
Astonishing and informative. The only city in the world that looks alive and gives off vibes even without crowds. Thank you for rising early to present this.
Back in the 1980’s we lived in Rome for six months out of the 7 1/2 years we lived in Italy. I must commend you on the best walking tour I’ve seen. What a tremendous job of navigating the streets. Thanks for refreshing my memories!
Thank you. Brings back great memory of our honeymoon to Rome in 2001. We stayed at a great hotel called the Valadier near the Piazza Del Popolo. I love how you can easily walk to all the sites. Beautiful city with history all around. Our favorite trip to this day. Great and informative.

Thanks for watching! I forgot to add that when river Tiber flooded in 1598, the water brought a small boat into the Piazza di Spagna. It was this event that inspired Pietro Bernini with the help of his son, to build the fountain at the Spanish Steps
There is a beautiful Trevi fountain in LasVegas too. The church near the real Trevi fountain is fitting, but the commercial building are NOT. They crowd the square hideously so. The swimming pool base is way to artificial looking. I would’ve used blue and blues and greens slag glass mosaic with a complimentary grout. ..not white…..
Hi great video, can I ask what time of the morning you started this and how long you took you to walk to all the sites ? Was it only 36 minutes? We I’ll be there in June
I started filming around 7 am. And yeah, it takes 37 minutes to walk around the monuments. If you plan to walk in June, you should start by 5 or 6 am to avoid the crowd. Day breaks early in summer.
Late again, as is usual. Sorry! Not one, but TWO McDonald’s on the way to the Trevi Fountain. I won’t cry, but I wonder: Are the McDonald’s in Rome frequented by tourists from North America? Have the Romans developed a taste for McDonald’s? 2nd question, if I may? If I toss a coin in the correct way into the Trevi Fountain and it hits one of the Gods before it falls into the water? Will I be banned for life? I don’t think a coin can damage the marble and I would not aim for anything except the water, but the aim that I manage behind me would very likely land far from my intent. If I put myself in harm’s way, I might be better off keeping my hands in my pocket. So sorry. Strange questions pop into my head but they are sincere and I would not mind knowing, especially about who frequents McDonald’s and keeps them busy enough for several locations. Fantastic video! Heading that way in a few months time and have never been before. I am more familiar with the streets and locations of some things than I have been from watching and reading so many things about Rome over the years! I don’t know how to adequately express how sincere I am. Thank you!!!
