      @@ZODAGAWD so the cranes leave the ship and place containers in the field? I guess . We have RTGs also here in jersey but hustlers take the container to the RTG . But most of our piers use Strads from ship to the yard and Vice versa

      @@divinelyles8527 We have Gantry Cranes that are on the dock. They are giant RTG basically. They load and unload the ships. They put the containers onto bombcarts. And the bombcarts take it to its proper destination.

      I unfortunately worked for ITS conglobal after they took over our ramp but ran a kalmar 3 high and have 8 years in one . I miss it but couldn't keep working mandatory 70 hours weeks. Did 3 years 12 hours a day without a break for 3 years before I had a breakdown and physical problems. It fucked up my prostate from yard potcanyons . I heard you need to know someone in the Mafia to get in longshoreman Union. You know Chaz ? He's NS Norfolk southern in Norfolk VA

      Nothing it was a poorly maintained

    • @MrCmulholland40
      @MrCmulholland40 8 років тому +4

      +Mick a poorly maintained what, ifyou mean the straddle carrier was poorly maintained then you did do something wrong, you drove it, driving machinery like that is the operators responsibilty to make sure it is in good working condition at the start of your shift on it, im very sure you would have a checklist to go through when your shift starts, and if there are any defects they would get reported, any serious defects and someone with their own safety in mind would not drive a machine like that if it was not in good working order, i find it hard to belive someone who works in a dock and is qualified to drive one would risk his safety and life driving one that is "poorly maintained" as you say, if you did it is probably better for everyone that works in that dock that you did fall over and dont want to go in one again, they will all be safer now, although i really doubt you have been within ten feet of a straddle carrier, what dock is it you work or worked at, im in seaforth, which is in liverpool and teesport everyday, i will stay clear of you if you are in any of those docks,

    • @TheeTheodoreFurness
      @TheeTheodoreFurness 8 років тому +1

      +colin mulholland I work in teesport on the RTGs, and there is a big preuse checklists which needs to filled out before you operate it. But we are not mechanics and can only really see obvious damage or malfunctions so in the other guys defence it may have been something not properly maintained which he may not have noticed

    • @MrCmulholland40
      @MrCmulholland40 8 років тому +1

      understand what you are saying Theo but the little input he has said leaves me very suspect, just saying he was in it and it fell over, and the reason he gave was it was poorly maintained, so he knows it was poorly maintained yet he still drove it so a big part is his fault, but i think he may just be a fantasist
